Re: A mini league of four
I still think you can put Forest in the mix . With the way the teams at the bottom are performing ( at present) , 30 points could keep you up . Hopefully we get Beyer and Ekdal back soon plus bring in an experienced cm in January.
Re: A mini league of four
Not a mimi league but as things stand we certainly are a relegation contender with 3 or 4 other clubs.
Re: A mini league of four
Think the OP will be right with the bottom four but hopefully not in that order.

It's a league of six, as has been suggested above.

Although we may struggle,i kinda hope the record we set is the record of gaining the least points to stay up

Re: A mini league of four
I said at the start of the season we and other 2 promoted teams and Bournemouth would be down there it's one of four who will escape , but Everton might enter it if and a big IF they get a massive penalty points deducted.

Staying up will rely on being able to defend.
We can't.
Not as things stand now.

If we are not careful we might end up stranded in a league of our own

Re: A mini league of four
Based on what I’ve seen we are the worst team and if we stay with the same strategy I think we’ll comfortably finish bottom. I think it’s between Luton and Bournemouth for 17th spot. I think Luton can stay up.

Those 2 points sum up Tuesday evening and most of the previous games, with the obvious exception of Sheffield United. Can't score and continue to gift the opposition easy chances is, I am afraid, only going to lead us to the inevitable.

Re: A mini league of four
Never say never.
We've not been lucky with injuries, and if we can get to January with about 15 points then we might have half a chance.
Will Foster go to Afcon?
Beyer / Ekdal may make us a lot more solid.
We are improving, but we need to just scab a couple of dirty wins from somewhere to give us a boost.

Re: A mini league of four
The wolves game would have been a real turning point had we won, but we didn’t and I think that’s the end of any realistic chance we have of staying up. The bottom 3 look likely to be cut adrift in a few weeks.

Just need to be in sight of 17th at the end of Jan.
A few loans/ reinforcements and we may be in with a chance. There’s always a surprise team that loses their way too.

Re: A mini league of four
Weirdly, it's a bit (only a bit) rosier than it was a few weeks ago despite only the one win. Palace are getting dragged into it as are Forest. Not sure how you can be sure a team will have a new manager bounce when you a) don't know how long the current manager is going to last and b) who that manager will actually be. Anyone remember Steve Kean?
Ok, we're making individual errors, but we generally look a bit more robust in terms of our shape and we are at least competitive against established PL teams. Koleosho is obviously a huge blow and we really could do with Foster back soon, but time for somebody to step up and if we can grind out a couple until January, who knows - there's a long way to go yet.

Re: A mini league of four
I’d have preferred to have been playing Forest this weekend.
Re: A mini league of four
We are currently as effective as a one legged man in an @rse kicking competition.
Relegation is inevitable… embrace it.

Re: A mini league of four
I don't expect such a defeatist attitude from a castlefields lad . I'll have to get my mates the Walkers to pay you a visit . Haha
Re: A mini league of four
Sorry pal, I’m only being realistic. We have played a bit better of late but keep committing suicide at the back. I’m not counting the Sheff Utd match as that was just a non contest really.expoultryboy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 7:00 pmI don't expect such a defeatist attitude from a castlefields lad . Who are the Walker lads in Castlefields then? Do they drink in the Telegraph? I don’t go in that pub so I should be relatively safe, although I regularly walk over the footbridge over the river up to Underdale Road wearing my Burnley Beanie Hat!

Mini league of 6, in my opinion.

Burnley
Sheff Utd
Luton
Nottingham F

Re: A mini league of four
Unless we can pick up a minimum of 5 points from next five games up to the end of December, we can talk about mini leagues all we like but we won’t be in it.

Forest let 5 in definitely in our group as are Palace
Everton are improving as they would with Sean running the show and we need to turn Everton over at the Turf next weekend

Re: A mini league of four
When we were robbed against Forest back in September but still got our first point, we were 6 points behind.
We remain 6 points behind after another 10 games, having had a harder run.
If we get to within 2 points when Forest visit the Turf for our final game, we have a chance.
That’s more than do-able, I’m amazed how many are throwing in the towel. Our old friend the Greek who owns it, with his son conducting transfers, they may turn out to be geniuses. Then again, they may not.

The way they are playing it would be a real confidence booster if we can turn them over.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 9:01 pmForest let 5 in definitely in our group as are Palace

With a heavy heart I say it's not a mini league of 4 anymore, the bottom three now have already gone.
Just being realistic.
