The £50 ticket is the safest option as it will be closed within 5 minutes of the 1st goal

There'll probably be a queue of 3 or 4 thousand at the bar and two bartenders serving....

I thought these sorts of drink offers were illegal these days - all-you-can-drink, 3 for 2's and Happy Hours etc

Re: I can only see this going well
That place is a bit closer to Sunderland than Newcastle, but as Sunderland are at home it could draw a fairly evenly split crowd of Newcastle, Sunderland supporters.
It also happens to be close to Easington Lane which is probably the worst part of the North East for organised crime, ASB and general disorder.
I think i'll give it a miss.

"All you can drink draught £50 per person
11am-2:30pm"
They'll be people wanting to break even, even at a fiver a pint, that's 10 pints of draught beer to drink in four and half hours. I'd struggle to drink three in that time.
It's going to be a bit messy, especially when security is telling those who only paid £50 that they need to leave.

I’d sup 7ish in the 3.5hrs time limit but I’d be fairly rocking. I can’t force cheap crap down though so would likely spew up as wellclaptrappers_union wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2023 3:24 pm"All you can drink draught £50 per person

Re: I can only see this going well
It's not big or clever, but I remember finishing work at 1pm with my dad and uncle one particular thirsty day and we'd each had a gallon in the thatch and thistle before a 3pm kick off.
Happy daze.
Happy daze.
Re: I can only see this going well
It takes about 30 seconds to find the clauses in the Licensing Act 2003 (and subsequent orders) which outlaw this type of 'irresponsible' promotional practice. I can't believe a venue have even tried to roll with this.
If they're allowed to proceed with it, it will be a traincrash

If you're going to go somewhere like this to get trashed, especially on a derby day, then you should know what you're in for. It's the people who have to clear up and police the aftermath who I feel sorry for.

Ridiculous idea.
Re: I can only see this going well
It's horrendous, sickening, frightening and outrageous.
However, I have 2 spare tickets, if anybody fancies joining me.

I had to clean up the stage at Manchester Academy after a Steve-O stage show in the early 2000sClovius Boofus wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 9:06 amIf you're going to go somewhere like this to get trashed, especially on a derby day, then you should know what you're in for. Re: I can only see this going well
I'm sure pocketing some of Steve-O's teeth makes for some interesting conversation, though.

I don't know the Act, but how is this different to bottomless brunches other than the footy on a big screen?Leon_C wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 8:32 amIt takes about 30 seconds to find the clauses in the Licensing Act 2003 (and subsequent orders) which outlaw this type of 'irresponsible' promotional practice. Get cameras on it. Should be a better watch than the match.
I feel for the GFs that get dragged along by neanderthal man for the craic.

Re: I can only see this going well
You’d need to drink 10 pints just to break even wouldn’t you ? That’s some going. One of the very few fixtures I’d liken to a BFC v B@stards fa cup fixture where they have to give a big allocation but would likely ban alcohol , early ko, travel restrictions and do all they could to kill the atmosphere.
Re: I can only see this going well
Haven't they made it compulsory buses for the Newcastle fans?
Re: I can only see this going well
It's a good question. I'd say that they were usually in breach of the Act. However, licensed premises may or may not be challenged depending on the impact on their community. If you get punters kicking off and vomiting on the street, then the police/local authority would undoubtedly intervene.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 12:50 pmI don't know the Act, but how is this different to bottomless brunches other than the footy on a big screen?
I enjoyed a BB in Cottonopolis in the NQ a couple of weeks ago, although it was quite tame - bottles of Estrella and a handful of cocktails, one at a time, for about 2 hours.
