Cullen
Is Cullen injured as we could have done with him when Berg was sent off..
Re: Cullen
Out of favour I think, although for some reason we’re not privy to the injury list.

It's worrying the amount of last seasons stars that aren't getting picked. How Ramsay gets a game even as a sub is a mystery

Re: Cullen
I like Cullen but he's a younger version of Ashley Westwood: a fine player but undersized for the PL.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 10:01 amIt's worrying the amount of last seasons stars that aren't getting picked. How Ramsay gets a game even as a sub is a mystery
I thought that Benson and Zaroury would be ok wingers in the PL, or at least, they would have been given the chance. I think the red card sealed the fate for Zaroury, and I wouldn't be surprised if he goes out on loan.
Foster looks like he is turning into the real deal as a player and I think could be our first 100 million pound player.

Unfortunately I don’t think Cullens quick enough for the PL.AshevilleNCClaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 1:29 pmI like Cullen but he's a younger version of Ashley Westwood: a fine player but undersized for the PL.

Re: Cullen
He was targeted in the early games by the opposition and was often hurried or dispossessed.
Our game plan from last season was shut down by far superior teams.
The change in formation from the Arsenal game onwards has seen us as a much more resolute and organised side, Cullen would not have the physicality for a two man central midfield.

Re: Cullen
We've certainly been better since Cullen was omitted from the side. It's a shame, because he was outstanding last season, but there's not really any room for sentiment in football and you can go from hero to zero pretty quickly.
Re: Cullen
It emphasises the massive step up to the Prem.
Re: Cullen
He may be slightly more useful now as hes not expected to be our main man in terms of maintaining possession. That job is now Berges so the opposition would probably target him a bit less
Re: Cullen
We’ve been a better side since Al Dakhil, Cullen and Roberts were dropped from the starting 11 which makes those claims that “last seasons team” would be performing better very questionable.

Re: Cullen
we struggled to beat Rotherham, QPR, Reading, Stoke, Millwall etc etc etc last season. We went on a great run and it disguises it a bit but I think our current team beats last seasons comfortably. Look at how Leicester are taking the **** in the Championship, the gap is massive. I think Tella and THB get in this current side though

Re: Cullen
We’ll know VK’s thoughts if he doesn’t start at Spurs. As others have said, he didn’t look like a premier league player at the start of the season.

Re: Cullen
I tend to think Cullen could work in a central midfield 3 but I think he was exposed by VKs early season selections and tactics and hasn't had much of a chance since.

VK has spent circa £15m on Ramsey and has to justify that outlay - when fit, like Sat, he gets picked before CullenWoodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 10:01 amIt's worrying the amount of last seasons stars that aren't getting picked. How Ramsay gets a game even as a sub is a mystery
Same with Tresor who gets on the bench (and occasionally on the pitch) before Zaroury and Benson

Agree with the both of you.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 4:36 pmwe struggled to beat Rotherham, QPR, Reading, Stoke, Millwall etc etc etc last season. When Cullen was exposed it was mainly due to everyone also being poor

He's not had a game at all since his suspension but I think Villa was the first time he wasn't on the bench

Re: Cullen
Cullens best game this season came away at Luton when it was Cullen brownhill and Berge as a 3. However we haven’t played Cullen in a 2 in the set up we have had over last 10 games

And you can also factor in that they lost 3 of their best players in Maddison,Barnes and Tielemans.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 4:36 pmwe struggled to beat Rotherham, QPR, Reading, Stoke, Millwall etc etc etc last season. But they also signed 3 or 4 Premier standard players such as Harry Winks to make up for losing them playersAnonymous Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 1:41 amAnd you can also factor in that they lost 3 of their best players in Maddison,Barnes and Tielemans.

Those players were carried by Benson, Tella and Zaroury.
All were water carriers

Re: Cullen
I don't think Xavi or Iniesta were particularly tall or quick....
I don't think the Man City lite thing worked out and I'm not sure he fits into a 4-4-2 so who knows what's in store for him...

Re: Cullen
Would not write Cullen off. He is still the best midfielder we have at showing up for a pass from our defenders and being able to use it. He is also better defensively than we give credit for and has stopped a number of goals by his anticipation. If he is not getting into the team we need him close to the starting 11, as we are very short in numbers in CM. Against some teams I would like to see him partner Berge and Brownhill at the expense of our one of supposed creative players. He was our heart beat last season

I knew he'd come on against West Ham, didn't realise he wasn't on the bench for those two games that I wasn't able to go to.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 9:02 amHe came on against West Ham.
