I get the feeling no one dare ask the obvious question!!!
The same question applies to several players from last season that won the championship by a country mile.
Every manager in the history of the game has given the team that got you promoted an opportunity!!
VK knows best 100 hours and they will know the system!! They will get better week on week!!
I feel it has taken 15 games of rubbish to now have a vaguely competitive starting 11. At least now we are in most games.
I really do not see how last seasons team would have faired any worse.
I’m assuming by last years team you mean: Muric, Cullen, Benson and Anass? As the other players that played a lot last here were loanees and we couldn’t afford/didn’t want to come.
On Muric, I agree, he should’ve started the season and been given the chance. I think we’ve made a huge error there and probably forfeited a huge fee for him that I think he’d have achieved.
Cullen started the season and his involvement coincided with our worst period of form. We’ve massively improved since we put Berge/Brownhill in midfield.
Anass has made some cameo appearances and looked really poor. As much as I like Anass, he’s quite weak on the ball and defensively nowhere near Koleosho in terms of his work rate or tracking back. I’d say Odobert and Anass are more similar defensively but Odobert a more talented player offensively. I don’t really see any argument that Anass should be starting over either Koleosho or Odobert. That’s just crazy talk to me.
Benson I agree should’ve got more game time. Although when he does get a chance he’s tackled once (vs Salford) and he’s off again. And like Anass not great defensively, hence preferring JBG. I think Benson should have played more but only from the bench.
So in summary, I agree in part, but only on 1.5 players - not the “whole of last years team” because for different reasons we either couldn’t or shouldn’t be playing them.
