Superbowl
two epic play off finals tonight resulting in Kansas v San Fran in the final. One of my mates thought he might go........cheapest available ticket is $8500 plus fees - so about 7 grand.
Anyone remember when they could afford to go to a sports game with your family ?

2 teams I can’t stand. KC are in it every year (kinda like Man City) and every damn Californian that moves out here because you can buy a big house for the price of a San Francisco dog kennel bleats on and on about the 49ers all year.
Can’t you just sneak in Vegas? Do the old “slip the turnstile operator 50p like on the Turf?”

My Buccaneers went on to have a fantastic season way above the expectations of every non-buc "expert" in pre-season so it's been a great season. I don't like either team and was hoping the Lions would win it all after beating us and my man crush for Coach Dan Campbell, but i guess i'd take the Niners over the Chiefs
Re: Superbowl
Be tough to beat the Chiefs. You have to beat the team, the refs and Taylor Swift.Foshiznik wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 8:30 amMy Buccaneers went on to have a fantastic season way above the expectations of every non-buc "expert" in pre-season so it's been a great season. Super Bowl isn't really just a sports game though to be fair - its more a massively hyped up mega event.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 3:03 amtwo epic play off finals tonight resulting in Kansas v San Fran in the final. Honestly, if someone wanted to experience the NFL at its best with high-stakes, great players and a great atmosphere, I'd go to a conference championship game or a divisional round playoff game over the SB. You will watch it with people who are real fans and massively into it. Unlike at the Super Bowl.
In fact, most regular season games would be more of a sports experience than the Super Bowl.

yes I have a mate who watches some of the collegs games in OK, pays about $50 for the tickets. Regular tickets during the season here for the Raiders are still hundreds sadly, it was the same for the Cowboys when I used to live in Dallas, way too expensive.forzagranata wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 9:56 pmSuper Bowl isn't really just a sports game though to be fair - its more a massively hyped up mega event.

A friend of mine has been and said it was quite soul less despite the impressive modern stadium. Hardly any Raiders branding. Is that what you’ve found?Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 10:13 pmyes I have a mate who watches some of the collegs games in OK, pays about $50 for the tickets. This is one thing that MLS has in its favour - its still pretty affordable (as long as Messi not involved of course).
You ever been to watch the LV Lights in USL?

I haven't been in, watched a few games and as expected it's at least a 50/50 split between 'Raiders' fans and those flying in for the weekends from the opposition. Looked like there was plenty of branding tbh

Will be the same as the Golden Knights, price is inflated by it being Vegas and away teams will get a good following there as well as general tourists wanting to see a game.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 11:48 pmI haven't been in, watched a few games and as expected it's at least a 50/50 split between 'Raiders' fans and those flying in for the weekends from the opposition. Well its USL, which is the 'second division' - I watched plenty of it when we had a team in South Florida in that league. Re: Superbowl
Major college football has a wonderful atmosphere. My parents and I had season tickets to Penn State for many years. 100,000+ for the games, good times. Been to several NFL games, always as an away fan. Only regular season, never playoffs. Pretty good atmosphere and just good natured back and forth for me. College Bowl games not such a good atmosphere, except in 1987 when I went to the Penn State vs Miami Fiesta Bowl for the National Championship. That was very good.
Now I live far away from Pennsylvania so am stuck going to Nebraska games and occasional Penn State road games when they are close. Still great fun even without a rooting interest.

Re: Superbowl
Saw Alabama utterly destroy Notre Dame in the college championship game in 2013 in Miami. Alabama fans and locals chanting SEC, SEC once it was clear who was dominating. One of the best atmospheres.

I went to Saints vs Panthers a few years back, atmosphere was cracking, game was won by Saints with the last kick of the game. Ticket was about 100 quid and we were quite high up but could see all the action. I'd definitely go again.

Re: Superbowl
it's really good, there is loads of skill but to understand it you need to watch it quite a bit, lots of rules and oddities. It took me a good while to get into it but I'm glad I didClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 9:57 pmDon’t understand the hype, iv tried watching the sport don’t have a clue what’s going on, constantly stop start, is there any skill to it ?

Too many adverts and stoppages, yeah agree with that but in all honesty you get used to that quickly, no big deal. It's not our football and isn't meant to be, always amusing when people compare it.

There are 5 I think for the nfl teams
Then there’s some stuff on Netflix, about high school players
Yes there’s skill involved
Adverts are designed to fit into the stoppages
Think about how many we get in our football games, it was worked out that we only see about 50-60 mins of football if we’re lucky in every game

Not everyday you see Turf Moor featured in the SuperBowl program.
Re: Superbowl
I criticise the owners a lot but must say JJ Watt has been an absolute breath of fresh air. His positivity not just about the club but about the town itself is just fantastic to listen to and gives us all something to be proud of.

I record all the weekend games and watch every play and ff the game breaks and adverts. You can easily get through a game in an hour.ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 9:57 pmDon’t understand the hype, iv tried watching the sport don’t have a clue what’s going on, constantly stop start, is there any skill to it ?

The game time is 4x15minute quarters but it’s a running clock, a lot of the time, so the actual time for all plays is much less.
There is so much to enjoy. Great QB plays, catches and runs by wide receivers, runs by running backs, defences getting through to the QB, interceptions and returns and it regularly isn’t decided until the last minute.
I’ve been with it since C4 in ‘84 and love it.

On a serious note, I've been in Vegas now for nearly 8 years and it has got ridiculously expensive. I've no idea how people afford to come here on holiday but it's pretty much always hammered. This weekend is as expected very very busy !

Crazy!
You literally cannot give the Chiefs a sniff. I know it all to well in the games my team (Dolphins) have played against them.
Make a mistake and they will punish you - as all top teams in all sports do.
