Exactly - i'd rather give Kompany another crack at that with some of the younger talent he's brought in

It’s not massive but still arguably representative of a smallish fan base, given you get fans of all ages on X.

Would anyone have even remotely cared if we won or came second? Both end up in the prem which is the whole point of the championship
Whether VK is up to the job or not is a totally different question.

Re: VK OUT !!
Pace gave Kompany a new contract until 2028. So sacking him now would mean being prepared to pay off four years worth of his no doubt very high wages. Pace would probably need to take out another loan to cover that - and find a new manager and coaching staff on top of that.
Can't see how it happens.

There’s plenty of managers that will get the team with the biggest budget promoted next season.
Why would anyone want VK to get us promoted? We would just have to suffer through this shite again.

Genuine question for people who are VK in.
What have you seen this season that makes you think he is the right man to take this club forward?

It ain’t going to happen. VK is here for the long haul. Just accept we’re not good enough this season and let him start his prep for next season.

It really is a rough ride but we have to tough it out. Clearly many can't.
I would be more disappointed than I am after today's surrender if Pace pulls the plug on Kompany. There is a clear long term plan and you just don't tear that up otherwise you lose all belief.
Of course I feel vulnerable as a supporter but I would be deflated if Kompany was sacked now. I do expect though the board to be discussing whether another manager could take their plan forward because he has performed poorly this season.

Re: VK OUT !!
This wouldn’t work in our circumstances. Not now. We’ve left it too long if we were going to change manager. We’re cut adrift, confidence is shot, what manager is going to want to come in and manage this mess for 13 games? And then end up with a relegation on their CV that isn’t down to them? Not many, I suspect. Not managers that we want long term, anyway.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 6:11 pmThe reason to replace him now, is NOT to avoid relegation, it's to let a new manager get his feet under the table and be ready for next season in the Championship, which is now totally inevitable.
Today was appalling and the fact that only half the crowd stayed until the end, said it all. Surely Alan Pace has had enough by now. I know most fans have
If we did get rid of VK now, not that I think we will, then the only real option is to give it to Jackson to manage to the end of the season, and give a new manager the whole summer.
No way a manager like McKenna (or a manager of that ilk) comes at this point.

He will get it right and learn from this for sure.
We messed up big time not getting our warrior THB. We messed up not getting our goal scorer Nathan Tella and messed up not getting Maatsen for sure.
We should now build a team around Berge and go again with his knowledge. The Championship is poor, very poor and even this current team would storm that league.
5 year plan - Stick to it with VK !

In for me. No question. I like the guy and he still has plenty of credit in the bank with me from such an enjoyable season last year.
That said, lessons clearly need to be learned. The naivety/arrogance that appears to have driven our recruitment last summer, cannot ever be repeated.

A) irrelevant as he isn’t going anywhereJakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 6:37 pmPrecisely. it would take eye watering astronomical sums to see the back end of him & his entourage.
B) he would only be paid until he starts a new role, which wouldn’t be long
C) £3.5m a year I think he’s on (low in terms of epl managers)
D) if you worry so much about the cost, if he’s sacked after a poor start next season (high likelihood this won’t happen) then it’d be considerably cheaper. He’d be back on his champ wage and a year less contract
E) irrelevant as he isn’t going anywhere
Personally I’d let Pace have the worry of the logistics of all that, didn’t stop him sacking Dyche.
Re: VK OUT !!
The decision for Pace is can he continue to support thru this season and will he get us promoted next season ? Personally I doubt it. Will be a strong league next season We have been unlucky with decisions and injuries but I assume VK has chosen the players we have signed ( subject to board approval) and that is my big worry. Is our current team good enough for promotion next season ? Final decision is can we afford to fire VK even if we want to ? Obviously I have no knowledge of the terms of his contract. Tough call for Pace which personally I don’t think he has the experience or the knowledge of UK football to make. Interesting times ahead

Weirdly I think he's absolutely bombed this season from recruitment to team selection to substitutions, BUT he ****** it last season, so based on the fact that we're going down and have been from basically the third or fourth game and we'll be championship come August, it makes sense to stick with him and with this squad. They're clearly very good and SHOULD walk the championship. Obviously when it comes to Premier League, they're not good enough and that's another matter.

Right now Cooper is probably the best shout.
Theres plenty of decent coaches out there and some are free transfers.
Hassenhutl, Marsche for example.

Wishful thinking that we are going to storm the Championship next season given that a rebuild will again be needed and several other clubs in the Championship have incoming new investment.

Re: VK OUT !!
It was clear after the first month or so that he’d made huge mistakes in the transfer market, that he was woefully out of his depth, that he’d disrupted the squad beyond repair without good reason and that he was making the same tactical and selection mistakes without learning from those mistakes.
Nothing has changed.
If he wasn’t Vincent Kompany, he’d have been sacked months ago and rightly so.

No long term manager that we want would come in now to end up with a guaranteed relegation on their CV.

Re: VK OUT !!
I think I'm VK in. Don't think this is a sensible time to change manager because nobody can save us from relegation and as we learned after we sacked Dyche you're better off waiting until the summer to find a replacement. And in the summer we'll be looking forward to the Championship which we should be pretty confident about with VK in charge.
The big caveat is that he needs to have learned big lessons from what happened last summer and at the minute it doesn't feel like he's learned anything. My concern is that we will have a third consecutive summer of massive turnover and we will find that the success in the summer of 2022 is not something anyone can do consistently.

Whether we want VK in or out, he'll be given another opportunity next season regardless. I fear for us next season. The players he's brought in are miles off Premier league level and have cost us more than we've ever spent on transfers. There's a naivety one would never had expected after last season, tactics, leadership on and off the pitch, team selections, organisation, experience and fight. Its very very worrying

Why is it so beyond the realms of possibility that Kompany could improve as a manager? Why do we have to throw the baby out with the bathwater after one bad season? Do we really want to be like most the other clubs that turnover managers everytime there's a rough patch. I understand its frustrating to watch at the moment, but we have to let things develop. The squad will improve, Kompany will improve. I really hope the majority of fans will stick with him, this squad of players are incredibly green and will be so much better in a couple of years. Even then Kompany won't be 40 years of age.

Pretty much identical I’d suggest unless you’re slanting towards VKs allowed net spend of circa £50m over four windows as opposed to Dyche who had two bob but inherited some solid players as a starting point.
Plus footballs spiralled financially in the 10 years since.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised (if sacked) if he just becomes a pundit
