53 goals conceded in two Dyche relegation seasons.
Currently conceded 55 and we have 13 games left

....and Kompany was a fantastic defender ?Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 8:19 pm53 goals conceded in two Dyche relegation seasons.

I thought all good managers build from the back?
Re: A case for the defence
Kompany looks lost. We are a mess right now
Re: A case for the defence
Kompany looks very alone.

lack of experience and leadership on the pitch, root cause.

There isn't one.
Re: A case for the defence
A suitcase, pack it and p1ss off.
Re: A case for the defence
40 goals of our 55 conceded have been against teams in the top 10. In our next 9 games we play just 3 teams in the top 10.

You see the thing is... you kinda have to play the top 10 every season in the PL and need to take points off some of them if you want to stay up.

Not like you two to miss the point (hint, look at the thread title).Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 9:32 pmThe league table has proven how completely pointless that stat is.

Re: A case for the defence
I didn’t miss the point at all.
I am saying how completely pointless that stat is. Basically our defence is crap but less crap against the worse teams. Well done that’s every team in the league
Re: A case for the defence
The defensive coaching at our football club is inept.

Re: A case for the defence
We’ve conceded 19 to the side in 10th (Chelsea) and below by my reckoning?
Re: A case for the defence
Top 10 includes Chelsea, in 10th.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 9:48 pmWe’ve conceded 19 to the side in 10th (Chelsea) and below by my reckoning?

That’s a very good point
Re: A case for the defence
Wait until we play teams on our level. I remember hearing this at the beginning of the season when it was clear the set up was all wrong. What a silly post above.

Re: A case for the defence
The panel at Talk Sport baffled by Trafford in the team describing him as looking like a youth team player completely out of his depth .. that’s what most people see .. it’s worrying how VK can’t see it

Re: A case for the defence
We finally look like we have round pegs for the round holes in the back four but there is literally no protection from the players in front of them, either by ball retention or winning the ball back/breaking up attacks.
The first goal today was a mirror image of so many goals this season.
Confidence is shot throughout the side now, the only way to correct this is to win a game or two but we look a million miles off being able to do that.
