Not sure he'd like to be Trafford's understudy.

Re: Today's Football
Think the defender is allowed to mark a zone or move into a zone, but isn’t allowed to charge, trip or jump at another player. The reason it is allowed is because when you have short-arses like we do, they have to have a way to defend a corner. Yes, yes, I know
So I assume VAR allowed Endo on that basis but disallowed it for offside, the whole thing though is so un transparent we haven’t much idea.

Arsenal Block the keeper every game at set pieces and score goals in those situations.

I was thinking about this earlier, the whole 'evens itself out over the season' is simply not the case with VAR.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 5:05 pmGuarantee that van Dijk goal would have stood against us.

These young kids would have dreamt of playing in a Wembley final. But not this season I’m sure.

the offside decision, they give it for blocking - so is the decision made at the point in time he blocks or the time the ball is played forward when he isn't blocking ?

Watched the EFL goals this morning. Identical situation in the Cardiff v Stoke match. No VAR, goal stood.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 4:32 pmThat is just a ridiculous offside. If the rules say that’s offside quite simply the rule isn’t fit for purpose.
Same with Assignon yesterday, the offside player has had no impact on the outcome so should NOT be ruled offside.

When the ball is played Endo was in an offside position. If he didn’t interfere with play he would be classed as onside.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 5:24 pmthe offside decision, they give it for blocking - so is the decision made at the point in time he blocks or the time the ball is played forward when he isn't blocking ?

Well the offside line is drawn at the point the ball is kicked, as always, but he doesn’t become offside until he proceeds to interfere with play.

That was a brilliant game of football.
Can't believe just how many first team players at Liverpool were unavailable. The ones they had out there though fought with everything they had.

This is what I'm trying to get my head around, IF they give the decision WHEN he interferes then why don't they give Liverpool a penalty for the huge shirt pull by Chillwell on VVD which happens before ?

Awesome player Van Dijk. The Liverpool keeper was outstanding. Between the two of them for MOTM I’ve gone for the keeper.

That’s the thing, 99 times out of 100, without VAR the goal stands. That in itself tells you why VAR is ruining the game.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 5:25 pmWatched the EFL goals this morning. Identical situation in the Cardiff v Stoke match. No VAR, goal stood.

In his post match press conference Jurgen Klopp’s opening remark was “somebody reminded me there is an old English saying “you can’t win anything with kids” and laughs. I wonder if he was told that it was Liverpool legend Alan Hansen who made the remark whilst appearing on MOTD.

Since Wilder's reappointment, Sheff Utd have won 1 and drawn 2.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 4:27 pmWilder since returning will have a better record than VK in a like for like comparison. Burnley have won 1 and drawn 3 in that time.
Same number of games so "like for like" we are, and I know it's not much but it suffices to prove your mistake, one point up on them in that time.

I couldn't care less what Wilder does, is doing or has done in all honesty. I couldn't even tell you who they have beat with those wins.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 9:36 amIt's not a case of being right or wrong it boils down to his record since returning back to Sheffield United & you might not like to hear it but he's outperforming VK.
I am sure it is some comfort to someone out there he has won 2 games rather than 1.
