It’s relevant because you have lost all your best players then you are replacing a lot of the squad at the same time.

How do you compare that to a team who have assembled their squad over many years ?
If a team bought player 5 years ago for £5m and he was playing in the championship last year but he’s on a decent salary (like Pukki and Gibson for Norwich for example) then that is part of the cost of assembling their squad.

We were bringing in players for £3m or £4m and paying them low wages…..and it was all money that we brought in from selling players and reducing the wage bill.

The cost of many of the other teams squads have to be looked at over a number of years in both transfer fees and wages. Ours was a much more condensed period for a big bulk of the team for the reasons we all know.
Thats literally nonsense. The claim was that Vincent hot promoted on the cheap. That's patently untrue. Bione is saying it wasn't well pit together but our squad was one of the most expensive in the division.
We had more money because we were a fairly well established Ptem team with Prem assets plus parachute payments.

There was an interesting point made on the Turfcast yesterday, where as the players that won us the Championship in such fine style last year, who are now in the majority overlooked/loaned out, may not be so willing to stay and be part of it again next season and hand in transfer requests due to them knowing there is no confidence in them from the manager to compete at this level. So we may find another complete rebuild on the cards, in which being the case the same can be said for any players thinking of joining us knowing the past history of dropping them once we go back up.

Don’t understand half of your post which is “literally” non sensical…but which part of my post was either untrue or nonsense ?

I was originally replying to a message that said our squad was the most expensively assembled squad in the history of the league which is of course untrue.

I have never said ours was not one of the most expensive squads in the division last season. I was saying that there were other squads that had also cost a lot of money.
The 2 centre forwards in Sheffield United’s team that played yesterday cost more in total on just these 2 players than the total money we spent on our whole squad on VKs first summer for example….and they were both part of the Sheff united team last year.

The other points I was making was that we brought in around £80m in player sales and reduced our wage bill by around £60m in the first summer - again the only reason I brought these up originally was in the context of a post which was intimidating that the only reason we won the league was because of money.

Where have I said we got promoted on the cheap ?
What I do think was that in terms of assembling the team we did, buying so many new players and winning the league like we did I think financially we managed things very well last season.

Of course we were and are in a different league financially to a number of the clubs in the championship who have not had premier league money in recent times. But there was a few in the league last year who had like Sheff United, Norwich, West Brom etc

This is my worry. I would like VK to stay, to own up to the (clear) mistakes that have been made this season and fix them but also to prove that the club is about medium and long term gains and we haven't become a short sighted sacking club.

However, the big sticking point that is going to come is who do we get to play for us next year if/when we lose some of our key players from this season because as you say, last seasons efforts have not been justly rewarded through Premier League playing time.

It would help if you could read. My post did not say it was the most expensive ever assembled

“Fixed that for you” by stating an absolute lie.
Honestly when will you learn to not comment on areas that you are clueless about ? (I realise that probably only leaves Love Island and crisps but I’m sure there are forums for them too)
An absolute truth.

I know you reference the wage reductions a lot and yes it's a 'good' thing but you always seem to omit wage reductions that will be part and partial of pretty much every players' contracts (or should be, referenced by Crouch and others).

Even if we sold nobody and had the exact same team, if reductions are 45% then even a £90mill wage bill will be £49.5mill.

No doubt VK/board reinvested the player sales very well and clearly signed players on significantly less than the existing squad members.

From you that’s funny.
You said :
“The most expensive, promotion winning squad together”

So you are saying that is an “absolute truth” ?
That no club in history has sent more than Burnley did in assembling their team ?
Even putting aside every other season - there was a team in our division last year who had spent more than us in assembling their team.

I reference it because people to suit their agenda will quote how much we spent whilst forgetting how much we brought in player sales and also our reduction in wage bill.

Of course we would have players reductions in contracts for a lot of players but clearly it’s more than that as we got rid of a lot of our biggest earners. Even a 50% reduction in the wages of Tarks, Mee, Collins, Pope, McNeil, Cornet etc still puts them on a wage significantly higher than the players we brought in.

And whilst our wage bill will have increased again by going up getting rid of the big earners mentioned above is I believe a key part of how we fund the spend last summer.
(Putting aside that it’s all turned to rat **** of course !)

Clearly referring to that season.

If I wrote he assembled the most expensive team in history, you would be correct. But since I didn’t please stop misrepresenting what I put.

Sincerely hope not, unless he’s lost the dressing room, but it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest considering how they got rid of Dyche.

Stay.

It's been awful this season, but we're effectively down now. So the only question worth asking is "Who is the best manager to bring us up next season?" I'd say the guy who achieved the (joint) fastest ever second-tier promotion.

Are you just making stuff up?
Not personally made anything up. Was told from 2 different sources but apparently someone on X has been spreading the rumour.
