Best performance in a Burnley shirt. I didnt think he looked fully committed to us last season. But today that was a man putting his body on the line for the shirt.

We were playing against a team who have been in a poor run of form with one man less on the pitch than us.
I'll enjoy the result but won't be using it as a stick to beat Trafford or Kompany with, nor build Muric up to be something I don't believe he is.
you clearly didn't watch a game last season if you are choosing today to judge Muric

FYI it’s not worrying me.

Love a spokesperson.

It’s so boring, we won, be happy.
It’s not worried you we have not played our best keeper all season and when we do eventually play him when it’s virtually too late .. he has a blinder and we win ? ..
I should be just happy we won but not wonder what could have been this season

We were playing in the championship where all of our players were a lot more competent in the style they were being asked to play.

Because he was making an angle for the dead simple pass that O’Shea should’ve made.
Did he tell O’Shea he was making an angle, or just wander out of his goal to make one without letting him know?

Tell me you’ve never played football without actually saying it.

You don’t ever play a blind pass back to the goalkeeper, in between the sticks.

Schoolboy stuff.

It is really really boring.

I don’t see any point in worrying about the past so no it hasn’t worried me. Perhaps you should do a poll before being the spokesperson for Burnley fans.

Muric vs Trafford aside,
all our weaknesses got showcased again, this league is a giant step up for our playing and coaching staff.
Much more enjoyable to get behind them and hope for the best.

I don't think many schoolboys would have been in the bizarre position Muric was, it was a poor backpack from.O'Shea but no way should it have nearly resulted in a goal.

Well actually schoolboys might but pro goalies? Correct position - he was making an angle for a safe backpass and to get an angle for continuing our play out from the back.

That simple, Dara just had a brainfart.

Correct, only watched 2nd half and for latter parts we were naive which was summed up by Odobert crossing the ball in the 98th minute instead of going into corner and winning a cheap free kick. We probably benefited by having a man advantage for the majority of the game.

Guys like myself, Bumba, SJF, Shaggy and a handful of others have received dogs abuse for months for saying we should be playing Muric and dropping that halfwit.

I had every faith we’d be proved right if Muric got the nod. Just a shame it wasn’t back in October.

Can we ease up on Trafford. Been as pro Muric as any but Trafford is still our player, he's mercifully out of the firing line now, time to leave him be and hope he quietly develops in training. Really no need for insults or name calling he's our player still.

There was palpable excitement in the pub at 2pm and rightly so. He was awesome today.

There are still questions about the season but it's a plus in my eyes that VK has made the decision and reaped the reward.

Of course I just don’t go in for mindless support of under performing players, that’s all. The team has been handicapped all season by a daft manager that couldn’t see what was right in front of him.

Glad he’s finally back in the team. He could change it again anytime but I hope that’s the reality check that will stick with him now.

If and when Muric has a bad game that will get commented on no doubt

The evidence suggests it was anything but a safe angle, he's way out of his goals. Dara made a hash of it by getting the ball stuck under his feet no doubt, but the fact he's played a straight pass which nearly ends up in a goal shows the angle made was far from.safe.
Anyway, overall he played well, I'm pleased for him and delighted we got 3 ponts, but please let's not build him up to be something he isn't and use him as a stick to beat Trafford and Kompany with on the basis of one game against an out of form team with 10 men.

Even the O Shea back pass incident shows the difference between Trafford and Muric in distribution. Muric knows he is getting a back pass and has moved left to make an angle so he can play either cross field pass or go up the line first time. Trafford does not think ahead due to inexperience stays central and has to take 2 or 3 touches to get into position to play the same ball and the advantage has gone. In defence of O Shea he isnt used to this and passes back to where he is used to Trafford being.

Top performance from Muric, he really seized his opportunity today and bailed us out a couple of times when we looked determined to lose the game. Surprisingly, against 10 men, it was actually his saves which made the difference today rather than his distribution, although his quick passing helped to set up attacks on numerous occasions.

Quite why some people are using this as another excuse to throw snide remarks at Trafford is beyond me though, but this says more about them than anything else. I have absolutely no doubt that the same people would have been blaming Trafford for some of the close calls today such as the near calamitous own goal (which was also very well recovered by AM) and some of the physical stuff which Trafford has been on the end of all season.

The Muric Trafford debate does not interest me. However its unbelievable that it took until 29 game of our season to try a new GK, when we have conceded so many goals and lost 20 games. VK needs to be made accountable for this , alongside giving Cullen the cold shoulder for so long, Think Trafford would have been bullied today

Honestly you're unbelievable.
He's our player.
Muric played like a lot of us wanted and was great.
Lay off Trafford and just be happy with the result. I'm thinking what could have been too but it's not Traffords fault he was picked, and this is absolutely pointless boo boy stuff.

I don’t know you but your persona is one of a weak little boy. A thread about Muric’s good performance should not be used as another opportunity to abuse one of our young players. You’re just not a very good supporter and come across as a very unpleasant person.

Oh how we have missed his control and passing forwards ... not many errors today ... but some very good mopping up of a couple defensive mistakes.

VK cannot (can he) change a winning team.

I don't think playing a back pass from in line with the centre of the goal at that pace should nearly result in a goal. O'Shea made a hash of it no doubt but Muric's position is taking a risk. Thankfully he rescued it and it was predominantly O'Sheas error but Muric wouldn't have been without blame.
He also did plenty of good things today, with a couple.of smart saves and punches from crosses and deserves to keep his place. I think we would be naive though to think he is a keeper who does not take a lot of risks and that if he is to keep his place (deserved for the moment) there isn't the potential there could be some significant errors made at this level. But I guess we don't have too much to lose at this point.

great display by muric today but lets not get carried away yet . . Brentford handed us a massive advantage early in the game and we still had to hold on for dear life at the end there. Looked a bit shaky overall but a wins a win. I think we'll have to wait til at least the wolves game before we get a good measure of how much difference muric really makes

I don't think playing a back pass from in line with the centre of the goal at that pace should nearly result in a goal.
That's just not a fair assessment at all. O'Shea hits it at a fair pace to outpace Toney, and puts it right into the bottom right corner(from our side, left facing the goal) without looking. Muric is in an easy position to receive a back side pass leftwards.

I don’t know you but your persona is one of a weak little boy. A thread about Muric’s good performance should not be used as another opportunity to abuse one of our young players. You’re just not a very good supporter and come across as a very unpleasant person.
Sadly he's not the only one.

You don’t need do a poll. .. I heard the roar when Muric name was announced on the team sheet and everytime
He cooly collected a cross . I don’t see how it’s boring :. This thread is about Muric .if you don’t want to talk about Muric don’t come on this thread or you run the risk of being bored . Have a nice evening
Correct, this thread is about Muric however you took the opportunity to have a dig at Kompany making out that Trafford has been the problem all season. Another poster has pointed out that our weaknesses were exposed again and that was against 10 men. That game should have been put to bed (against a team in poor form) instead we make hard work of it through our own doing, nothing to do with who is goal.

Hearing the “roar” doesn’t mean Burnley fans aren’t worried about the past btw.

The atmosphere in The Park View before KO was just uplifted when the team news came out. The same as in the ground.
The place needed a lift and having Muric in goal gave us 1.

I'll reiterate it's poor from O'Shea, I just don't recall seeing many passes similar to that from the same position at the same pace nearly ending up in a goal. Fair play to Muric for getting back from the position he was in quickly to spare Dara's blushes.
Anyway let's all enjoy the 3 points it's been a rarity this season!

I'm in a weird spot after that, I'm expecting some people will say I'm never happy but, even as a pro Muric guy I dont think I wanted him to do THAT well. I wanted a good result and him to play well with no mistakes but I genuinely wasn't wanting (or expecting) a man of the match performance.

I think part of me thought maybe the people saying we'd have no more points with him were, while not right, right that the difference was exaggerated. After that I'm genuinely left absolutely gutted at what's gone on this season, it really does feel like we've thrown the season away to unnecessarily blood a young keeper before he's ready. The whole team still had all the hallmark problems of the season- inconsistent delivery, squandered finishing, loose possession, defensive capitulations, but he bailed us out a couple of times and showed how much faster we break with him. As complete a keeper performance as you see. Really hope everyone eases off on Trafford now, he's out of the firing line and can't see him returning soon.
Exactly this.

The pressure was on him big style today, but he was his usual unflappable self.

God how we've missed him. VK has a lot to answer for
