Harry Kane statue
It's diabolical, like most statues these days!
Looks like a member of an alien species who are human-like in some ways.

I was assuming it was somebody's GCSE Art exam project.

When I saw him sitting on a bench, I thought it was Manuel Benson.

The main question should be what's he ever won in his career to have a statue made

Re: Harry Kane statue
Strange isn't it how the Greeks and Romans could literally chisel perfect replicas to high detail yet 2,000-3,000 years later with CNC machinery and all the technological advancements they keep coming out with crap like that?

Is it made of chocolate?
Re: Harry Kane statue
It doesn’t even look like him. I’d be up in arms if I was a local rate payer. What a waste of money.

Yeah, but how do we know the statue of Julius Caesar is spot on!!? Maybe Julius actually looked more like Ian Dowie in real life!CoolClaret wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 6:33 pmStrange isn't it how the Greeks and Romans could literally chisel perfect replicas to high detail yet 2,000-3,000 years later with CNC machinery and all the technological advancements they keep coming out with crap like that?

Maybe a statue of a local war hero would be more fitting.
Re: Harry Kane statue
Stick a rainbow flag on it, someone will snap it up

It looks more like Gascoigne than the guy who has never won anything and blew his chance to do it with England. And I’m thinking of the 60 year old Gazza with that grey beard.

Don't know who the statues modelled on, but Kane looks like one of Beavis and Butthead.

Re: Harry Kane statue
Pay £7k for a statue and that's what you get.
Yes £7k is a lot for a council to spend but it isn't a lot for a statue. I'm sure Julius Caesar employed a master craftsman to make his by hand.

If only that were true. It would soon be eaten.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 7:45 amAs an easter egg it is better than your standard bunny
(this thought stolen from the film 'Sitting Pretty' where a woman who fancied herself as a sculptress had made a snowman and asked the pompous hero what he thought of it. 'Oh well, it will soon melt' he replied.)
Re: Harry Kane statue
I think the sculptor got his Kane and Caine mixed up.
Re: Harry Kane statue
The proportions of his feet don't look right somehow.

Ah I see, I don’t think anyone deserves that to be honesy. My post should have been in response to agent claret in that case.

Awful. Looks like a kid has made it out of plasticine. Who commissioned the sculptor and how much did they pay him ! It’s crap
