Re: REPORT: Brilliant Burnley at the Bridge
It was very much a lifting away day. But it was the non-Kompany signings that saw the day out for us. And also the forced correction of his starting line up to steady us. What was he thinking in dropping Charlie Taylor just to put square peg Zeki Amdouni in a round hole ?
Good report as always. Thanks.

The Kompany signings were the ones that scored and kept us in the game. Think you’re basically saying Taylor did well when he came on and you don’t like Kompany?Vim Fuego wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 11:43 pmIt was very much a lifting away day. We actually started the game very well but I’ll give you that Amdouni shouldn’t have been starting.

Three of Kompany’s signings, Muric, Cullen and O’Shea, were the best players on the pitch, just for balance.Vim Fuego wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 11:43 pmIt was very much a lifting away day. Re: REPORT: Brilliant Burnley at the Bridge
Like Kompany? It is all about him making good decisions to make sure our club is heading in a good direction. So far this season decisions have been very strange. It is irrefutable that VK has made crucial mistakes and still continues to do so. I will point out one fact tentatively. Our performance on Saturday was better once our manager was sent to the stands and the balance of the team was helped by one of his favorite players being taken off. Being down to 10 men didn't really feel like we were down to 10 men
Re: REPORT: Brilliant Burnley at the Bridge
Excellent stuff, thanks Tony.
Re: REPORT: Brilliant Burnley at the Bridge
For us that didn’t go it’s good to read how well we played. Keep this up and who knows? Thanks for the report.

Good report. Interestingly, regarding the “almost impossible” rebound chance for Jay, Understat gave it 0.51 expected goals (51% likely to score) and his header they gave as 3% likely.

Yes, excellent report CT and as said above, your time and effort is appreciated to inform those of us who weren't
there.
A much improved performance there for all to see.
Four points from the Wolves and Everton games would
give all a great boost. (Hopefully six, of course.)

Talking about the 11 that started the game we only had the number 2 in it from a traditional 1-11 line up.

And he wasn't playing in the traditional number 2 role!Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 12:08 pmTalking about the 11 that started the game we only had the number 2 in it from a traditional 1-11 line up.

A summary of your day out in London and always a better read when the team have performed well and earned some reward. Shame about the match officials but its becoming commonplace now for our games.

Re: REPORT: Brilliant Burnley at the Bridge
Cracking write up.
Have to say I was absolutely delighted with the response after losing Assignon and Kompany then going in 1-0 down at half time.
There has been plenty of criticism levelled at the team at times for a lack of fight, questionable attitude etc, so to see a response like that was absolutely brilliant and they deserve full credit.

I definitely picked the right game for my first of the season. What a great day.

Re: REPORT: Brilliant Burnley at the Bridge
Interesting that none of the three in the team of the week made the Garth Crooks lineup. He’s such a great judge of performance. Coming back twice at Stamford Bridge and deserving to win is not enough for any of our gallant ten to be included. I reckon Stevie Wonder could do a better job than Crooks tbh.
