Scott Hogan was an unused substitute for Brentford today despite the assurances from the manager pre-match that he expected the player to play a full and instrumental part in their game against Newcastle.

Re: West ham target gray
Seems slightly bizarre that they/the media have attached the same value to Gray as they have to Scott Hogan.
Hogan hasn't played a full season in the Championship yet.

Re: West ham target gray
Am I right in saying Gray only has 18 months left on his contract? This is the last thing we want is the West spams of this world dangling 60 Grand or more per week contracts around
Re: West ham target gray
You are correct Rightfoot.
Think it's not to daft to think either get him to sign a new deal or cash in. We are in a great position to get in a replacement.
We have almost guranteed top flight football next season, and Gray stated that's where he wants to be.
I'm personally not bothered if he stays or goes as long as we replace him. ( without sounding harsh )

Re: West ham target gray
Defoe is worth £6m. Gray deficient in lots.
Re: West ham target gray
We are absolutely not almost guaranteed PL football next season at this point so we'd be foolish to sell any of our key players this month.

Another story without any basis. Transfer window is so slow the papers are having to make them up now. Not going to happen IMO.

Joe neenan! There's a blast from the past.
We have come a looooong way.
I thought cooky and grant were quite decent players tbh.

Re: West ham target gray
West Ham are targeting the key players of relegation rivals - Defoe, Snodgrass, Andre.
That's a naïve approach and looks like a club in some disarray.

I disagree.taio wrote:We are absolutely not almost guaranteed PL football next season at this point so we'd be foolish to sell any of our key players this month.
If you don't think we are safe get a bet on, Im sure if it was Boro or Hull on our points, our fans would be claiming they were safe already and using it to bash our manager/board/players.
It's not just the points total what makes us safe IMO but the form of others, rivals next half a dozen fixtures and the amount of teams below us.
I'm not sure but I doubt a team will have ever got relegated having been where we are position and points wise now.
Re: West ham target gray
Why would I put a bet on when I think we will stay up. But that's different from becoming complacent and thinking we are almost guaranteed to stay up. I reckon Dyche and the players won't for a moment think we are definitely safe. If we have a run of bad results watch the panic set in on here. I'd prefer to take a balanced view.
Re: West ham target gray
Oh not for 1 minute will any players/coaches/board members will think we are safe. But as a usually cautious fan I just can't see the others catching us.
We will IMO go into the last half a dozen games safe and playing with a swagger and freedom.
There will be some great unexpected results coming up, but for once it will just be putting iceing on an incredible season.

Re: West ham target gray
We're currently 7th favourites to go down with odds of around 7/1. So the bookies no longer think we're going down, whereas only the other week we were 3rd favourites.

Re: West ham target gray
I always thought it was a mistake to give him a 3 year deal. I notice some clubs have got players on 5 year deals now.. I think we need to start getting players to sign 4 year deals if they will sign them of course.

During yesterday's game when we were still on 23 points I think the commentator said that since the Premier League started (1992?) only 2 clubs had been relegated from the Premier League after amassing what we had achieved at that point.
Re: West ham target gray
Even slimmer odds now.
Also doubt there were same number of teams between that team and the relegation zone, and those in it with so fewer points.

Re: West ham target gray
Blackpool had 28 points from 21 matches........and still got relegated
But 3rd from bottom had 21 points at the same stage!

We should not be selling any of our playing assets until we are absolutely sure of what division we will be playing in next term. Let's take stock in early summer.
