Pope 7 made the two saves he had to make
Darikwa 7 some great crosses including the one for the goal. Positive going forward
Keane 8 untroubled all game good on the ball
Tarkowski 8 Imperious great on the ball
Flanagan 6 fine defensively did not offer much at the other end
Boyd 7 first 15 minutes was brilliant then less involved but still influential
Hendrick 8 MOM Another superb performance
Barton 7 part of an excellent midfield 3
Defour 7 clever player kept the ball excellently
Kightly 6 Didn't do much wrong but didn't offer a great deal in an attacking sense
Vokes 7 Brilliant header

Gray 7 took his goal well and looked sharp.

Really enjoyed it tonight, some nice passing football. The midfield 3 were great to watch, JT looked fantastic and Tendi offered pace and a great attacking threat. Nice to have another way to play if we need it. Appreciate Sunderland were terrible and we won't be able to play so much short passing football against the really top teams but it shows we are capable of knocking the ball around nicely and be effective in winning a game doing it. Didn't really get out of 2nd gear and we were still far too good for Sunderland. Shows how far we have come that we played another Premier League team with 6 changes expected to win and did it comfortably. Would love to see us go a long way in the FA cup. UTC

Pope - 7 - Easy night. Kicking was good and some smart but routine saves

Darikwa - 7 - Bit shaky and poor in possession but what a cross for Vokes goal. Looks better as a winger than a full back
Flanagan - 7 - Grew into the game and looked good. Slow start but I think he'll be knocking on the door the way he ended the game
Keane - 8 - Solid and calm but didn't have a lot to do
Tarkowski - 9 - Like Keane but his passing and distribution was fantastic. Must start at the weekend.

Barton - 8 - Broke play up and set the ball going forward. Wasn't a booking.
Defour - 8 - Looks better in a 3 and better with the freedom. He's an excellent player. Has an eye for a pass but the best part of his game he keeps the ball moving and moving forward.
Hendrick - 8 - Played more as a forward but you could say the same as Defour.
Boyd - 6 - Thought he was off the pace and with the 3 in the middle playing so well it showed his lack of pace & skill. We didn't need his defensive quality tonight
Kightly - 5 - Awful. Didn't offer a thing. He's been a great player for us, especially in the championship but I'm afraid his time at our club is up.

Vokes - 7 - Point for the header which was superb. I can't really recall him having any other baring on the game. Won a few headers but that was it.

Let's not beat around the bush...it was Sunderland. They are 1 step better than Blackburn. However, we never looked in danger and that's pleasing to say with a second string out 8-) :)

We won without breaking sweat. Barely tested by a reasonably strong Sunderland side, who in fairness, look desperately like a side that are on their way down! We are miles better than them in the recent three showings!

Training ground stuff for our lads tonight such was the gulf in quality and application. We played some wonderful stuff at times.

What an absolutely amazing time it is to be a Burnley fan when Tarkowski is able to come and and by all accounts out-shine our England-ready centre half.

Flanagan 7 not first half but very good second
Boyd 6
Barton 8 excellent and worked hard
Defour 8 excellent and classy

Pope 7 good distribution
Flanagan 7 poor first half, improved second
Tarkowski 9 majestic.
Keane 9 as above
Darikwa 8 solid and offered support going forward. Lovely assist
Kightly 7 battled hard
Defour 8 some good passes, pressed their midfield well
Barton 8 as above
Hendrick 9* all over the place, ran the show in midfield
Boyd 8 tireless as always but made some good runs and link up passes. Always open to receive the ball.
Vokes 9 won plenty of headers and linked up play well. Extra for the goal

Gray 7 caused issues in his brief cameo, Sunderland must have been sh!tting it.

Enjoyable evening and a great result. Bit of a mixed bag of performances from the fringe players. Tarka looked very good, Kites was awful, and Darikwa and Flanagan somewhere in between, but posing no real challenge to Lowton and Ward for a starting place. Hendrick gets better every game and Boyd has been back to his best the last two matches, tireless running and always available. Bring on the Bristol!

Pope - 7. Made a superb save at the death to keep a clean sheet, but other than that it was a quiet night for him.
Darikwa - 8. Some great work down the flank, and the cross for Vokes' goal was superb. Not as shaky defensively as he was previously imo
Keane - 7. Solid and didn't seem to have a lot to do
Tarkowski - 8. This lad is a real talent. Confident on the ball, and picked out some brilliant passes cross field
Flanagan - 6. Let himself down by getting easily dispossessed in the first half. I've not been overly impressed with him.

Boyd - 6. He ran and pressed but nothing really above what he normally does. Darikwa rightfully seemed to bollock him in the first half for not making a run, and it seemed like little mistakes he made just broke down the attack
Barton - 8.
Defour - 8.
Hendrick - 8. All three were brilliant tonight, and ran the midfield
Kightly - 5. Just seemed to slow us down on the break. Shows to me we need another winger to cover for injuries

Vokes - 7. Took his goal well and looked better for the crosses from Darikwa. My concern is he looks shot about 60mins in, as opposed to Barnes who can bomb about for the full 90.

Gray - 7. Came on and made a nuisance of himself and took the goal well.

Brilliant to see such a strong central midfield of Barton, Defour and Hendrick.

It was losing Marney without adequate cover last time we were in the Premier League that really did for us in the end. We are so much stronger this time round.

I wish we could give 1/2 marks. Most of the 7 s are actually 6.5 s but that is only cos we didn't need to get out of second gear.

Pope 7 did what he had to
Darikwa 7 dreadful until the assist then very good second half
Keane 8 never troubled
Tarkowski 9 second best central defensive performance I've seen at tTurf. Needs to play.
Flanagan 7 better than he has been
Boyd 7 energetic
Defour 7 didn't quite click but always trying to find the killer pass
Hendrick 8 he is getting to be very consistently good
Barton 7 tried but didnt quite click
Kightley 6 tried but a bit rusty
Vokes 7 silly offsides

Pope 7-Looks more than a good understudy to TH.
Darikwa 6-Good in parts and good cross for Voksey's goal but his touch lets him down at times.
Keane 8- Class as ever
Tarkowski 9- MOM and fitted in to the system seamlessly. Outstanding.
Flanagan 6-At times looked a little rusty but needs game time.
Boyd 7-Typical Boydy, hope new contract isn't too far off.
Barton 8-Like he's never been away. Joey's presence eases my anxieties.
Defour 8-Another excellent performance, linked up well with Hendrick and Barton
Kightly 5-Personally don't think he did himself any favours with that performance.
Hendrick 8-Growing in confidence and stature
Vokes 7- Works tirelessly and good goal. Still think at time he needs a little more composure in front of goal.

Gray 7-Good sub by SD as although we dominated, we certainly needed another goal to make it safe. Andre caused them problems.

Very enjoyable game without the Premier League pressure.
Our midfield kept the ball well and controlled the game. There was lots of good play from the clarets, but Sunderland looked very poor.
Great to see the high line we take when Sunderland had the ball with their keeper and back four. There was nowhere for them to go, hence we penned them back most of the second half.

Pope 7 not much to do, but a good save at the death
Darikwa 6 showed lots of intent, but his ball control was poor. Good cross for the goal, but very unlikely to push Lawton based upon this performance.
Keane 8 typically assured performance
Tarkowski 9 Tarks looked to really enjoy his run out. A real prospect, commanding and controlled, good range of passing too.
Flanagan 6 got better as the game went on. A couple of well timed tackles, but showed little to challenge Ward
Boyd 7 another tireless performance. Gives the ball away too easily at times, but he is important to our form at the moment
Hendrick 9 Really developing into a quality player for us. His work rate is up with Boyd, but he is starting to use his control and strength to dominate midfield
Barton 8 picked up where he left off last season. Great organisation and desire to win the ball. I doubted his level coming back, but so far he has been great.
Defour 8 good 90 minutes and good to see him battling to win the second ball. Works well alongside Barton and has the quality to unlock defenses.
Kightly 6 Plenty of effort, but pretty rusty performance with little confidence. Might need to drop down a league or two.
Vokes 7 Won plenty of headers, as usual, including a well directed goal. Should have scored in the second half.

Combination of us being very good, Sunderland being very bad and a lot more football on the deck made this possibly the most comprehensive 2-0 you will ever see. Sunderland had two chances, one in the 89th minute and a free kick in the 90th. Tarkowski, Defour, Barton, Hendrick all outstanding, Boyd did more running and covering than the entire Sunderland team. Very Enjoyable!

Pope 7 - good kicking. Mind you, I'd have got a clean sheet against this lot
Darwika 7 - great cross for the goal. Good going forward, bit iffy defensively
Keane 8 - untroubled
Tarkowski 9* - did everything right, and looked like a combination of Beckenbauer and Baresi. Now can he could do that against a decent team?
Flanagan 7 - horrible first half, million times better in the second
Boyd 8 - workrate exceptional, having a good season is George
Defour 8 - 2nd half completely ran the show
Barton 8 - like he'd never been away
Hendrick 8 - continuing his run of exceptional form
Kightly 5 - one great flick but thats it. Needs to move on.
Vokes 7 - great header and did well

Subs
Gray 7 - if he'd started, he'd have probably got another hatrick

Pope 6 - Did nothing wrong, but had nothing to do.
Dariwka 6 - Willing runner & outlet, most good work ruined by hesitancy and / lack of composure
Flanagan 7 - Grew into the game. Careless in possession but tenacious in defence.
Keane 8 - Never in any trouble
Tarkowski 8 - Ben who?
Defour 8 - At the heart of all that was good.
Barton 7 - Never let Sunderland settle. Ball retention questionable at times.
Hendrick 8 - Supported Vokes, carried the ball well, covered every blade of grass
Kightly 5 - Seems determined to make the least of every opportunity. Didn't fancy it physically, either.
Boyd 6 - In and out sort of game, with the usual lung bursting runs. Great 1st half effort.
Vokes 7 Goal and an assist, battled well against 3 centre halves. Never got to grips with being onside.

Gray 7 - Instant impact, forced the Sunderland backline to drop by 15 yards.

Pope 7 - Good save at the end and did well with what little he had to deal with.
Dariwka 7 - good performance and some good runs and crosses. Just lacks composure (and a little balance) sometimes
Flanagan 8 - Thought he had a very good game and was showing signs of the player he was / could be again
Keane 8 - Solid as awlays
Tarkowski 9 - Fantastic performance. Looks every bit as good as Keane on this performance.
Defour 8 - The cultural lead in the team and made us tick. Real quality player
Barton 8 - The leader. Embodies the "Dyche ethos". Only hindered by a ref who blew for a foul anytime he challenged for the ball.
Hendrick 9 MOM - On this type of performance we got a bargain. Untouchable all night and seemed to be everywhere.
Kightly 6 - Just doesn't seem to fit into the team / squad. Tries but not quite the right level of quality.
Boyd 6 - Started well but seemed drift out of the game a little. Always working and helps out the defence.
Vokes 7 Superbly taken goal but had easier chances than the one he took. First touch was good and linked play well.

Gray 7 - Nice finish and looked sharp and dangerous as soon as he came on. Sunderland were terrified of him and it showed.

Pope 7 barley had anything to do
Darikwa 8 I have liked him for a while
Flanagan 7 better than usual
Keane 8 never causes us any trouble
Tarkowski 8 very solid performance we've got 3 centre backs of the same quality
Barton 8 led the performance
Defour 8 most talented but doesn't always show it
Hendrick 9 best player for us on the night
Kightly 7 was ok
Boyd 7 wasn't very effective
Vokes 8 nice having a strong forward up top

Gray 7 terrifies their team
