Patrick Cryne, club owner, to the Barnsley fans.
This really does put it into perspective. I don't know how long he has to live but at least the Barnsley lads have given him one more trip to Wembley.

I don't think I can add anything, the thread title says it.

Hadn't seen the original thread when I replied to the second. I've now merged them.

But didn't a club owner think passionately about his club just down the road? And many on here would dance on his grave quite happily.

And that only shows their idiocy and lack of class.
I would hope it's not "many" by the way.

Brave ?? What makes you think that? My brother's dying from cancer and he says there's no bravado involved, it is what it is.

For the millionth time the chant isn't about Jack Walker it's about the Venkys. But don't let your ignorance stop you making sweeping statementstim_noone wrote:But didn't a club owner think passionately about his club just down the road? And many on here would dance on his grave quite happily.

Rest in peaceBarnsley Football Club are devastated to announce that Mr Patrick Cryne has passed away over the weekend at the age of 66.
Mr Cryne had been battling cancer since November 2016.
Club Custodian for 14 years and widely regarded amongst the loyal fan base as the ‘saviour’ of the Club since taking control in 2003, Mr Cryne has been held in the highest of regards both at Barnsley Football Club and across the footballing world.
Born and raised in the town of Barnsley, Mr Cryne’s earliest footballing memories date back to over 60 years ago where a first appearance at Oakwell with his Uncle Ernest caught the imagination, allowing for a lifetime of dedication to Barnsley Football Club in any way possible. This dedication and love, truly earned Patrick the tag as ‘one of our own.’
Mr Patrick Cryne will be deeply and sadly missed by everybody connected to the Club and we are all sending our deepest condolences to his wife Jean, son James and the rest of his close family.
The Club fully acknowledges that this news will be deeply upsetting to many people but we ask for privacy at this painful time.

A sad, but ultimately heartwarming story. A local chap, a committed fan and able to earn enough money to become custodian of his favoured club. (Sound like anybody we know?) Football needs more people like Mr Cryne.

A proper football man who supported his club in the best way possible. I just hope that those he's sold it to respect all he's done for Barnsley Football Club.
Sad, sad news today.
