Who are your favourite stand up comedians?
I went to see Josh Widdicombe in Harrogate a couple of years ago and genuinely, my stomach was killing me I was laughing so much. If you've never seen or heard of him, I'd recommend. Another is Lee Mack. Very funny at stand up and also funny in Not Going Out.
I've also started to watch Greg Davies. Man Down is just weird and funny at the same time and I find he's funny on stage too.

Re: Who are your favourite stand up comedians?
There are a few that I like -
Russell Peters
Gabriel Iglesias
Chris Ramsey - watched his dvd a bit ago and I was pleasantly surprised.
Kevin Bridges.
One that had be laughing A LOT though was a random youtube find not long ago. An Aussia bloke named Carl Barron who was born to make people laugh it seems.
Edit - Just looked up a Barron vid if anyone fancies a laugh.

The England Test Team, although that’s more slapstick than stand up.

I thought he was funny when he first came onto the scene but that was odd bits on panel shows.tim_noone wrote:Micky Flanagan for me. And saw Andy parsons live really funny guy. Not forgetting Ken Dodd a living legend and still touring at 90 !
So I went and bought his first DVD. It turned out that he was funny only now and again, but overall I thought he was pretty poor.
Try Josh Widdicombe, I think you'll love him.

Micky Flanagan, Kevin Bridges, Lee Mack and pretty much anyone who makes me laugh. I went to a Comedy Club in Leicester Square, cost about a tenner and everyone one of the acts were really good.

Re: Who are your favourite stand up comedians?
Lee Mack is disappointingly funny.
Rob brydon is a funny man.
Sean lock also has me chuckling if I don’t catch myself.
The other end of the spectrum is Miranda Hart and Michael McIntyre. Both extremely unfunny and annoying, in a “come here while I smack you in the grid” sort of way.

Bobinho, have you seen Would I lie to you? Rob Brydon hosts it with Lee Mack on one of the teams. It can be very funny.bobinho wrote:Lee Mack is disappointingly funny.

I agree with you about Miranda Hart, but the worst female 'comedian' has got to be Sarah Millican. I can't actually put up with her screeching voice - she must be putting that on. It's just the complete wrong tone for a voice. Fingernails being scratched down a blackboard.

Bill Burr. US stand up on Netflix. Very good stand up.
There is a clip on YouTube where he went on stage in Philadelphia in front of a hostile crowd and ripped in to them for his full set. He is fantastic.

I love Micky Flanagan - however I went to see him live in Leeds and was disappointed. Not a big fan of John Richardson on the telly but thought he was superb live. Jason Manford is very good live. Rhod Gilbert also very good.

Roy Chubby Brown made me laugh till I ached live too, many years ago, but it's probably not PC to admit that these days!!!!

Most of modern stand ups have their moments I suppose and can come up with brilliant one liners and tales on panel shows
But none have yet got anywhere near Billy Connolly.

Re: Who are your favourite stand up comedians?
Good shout for Trevor Noah though he’s been been reigned in a bit now.
Sean lock can be funny ,Lee Mack is ok but a bit of a “try hard”
Jerry Sadowitz -Fantastic
Peter Kay is also a funny man though live he could do a dump on the stage and the audience would still love it .
Jimmy Carr good gag man
Frankie Boyle can be excellently offensive
Steve Coogan is nearest we have to genius but live a bit patchy and doubt he’ll tour again.
And the worst(for me)
Macintyre (so birds can laugh too I guess) though he has mass market mummsy comedy to a t.
That Iranian bird -shaggi koppi or somat? The one that still trades on the 9/11 gag
The blonde Geordie just awful she’s stole a living

I've not seen that much of Ken Dodd, but yes he did make me laugh when I saw him with his feather duster.
