Pope 6 couple of routine stops, awful kicking
Taylor 5 very shaky with and without the ball
Mee 6 decent
Tarky 7 solid, tried to play out and drive us forward
Bardsley 5 nothing going forward again JBG had to beat 2 every time
Arfield 6 tried as always, limitations showed
Defour 5 worst game for a long time
Cork 4 did he find a claret shirt today, worst game of the season
JBG 7 tried to be positive, a couple of great balls in, sadly our best header of the ball was sat down
Hendrick 5 offered nothing again, even went to get the ball off Mee once first half. Rest time for Jeff.
Barnes 5 offered zero in their box, won a few free kicks.

All in all a pretty poor display all round.
Looked toothless up top, shaky at the back and the midfield didn't get the ball moving quick enough, or find claret jerseys often enough.

Tiredness has caught up with is I think, a reshuffle of personnel is needed as a couple have been off too much too often knowing their place is guaranteed.

all 6 and it was down to being knackered. We lost a point at the end but I hope we play the reserves at City in the cup and give them a proper rest

Pope 7
Bardsley 5 - very limited; need Lowton back in
Tarkowski 7
Mee 6 - didn’t look like good defending of the first ball for the winner.
Taylor 6 - as above, nice ball for the equaliser.
JBG 7
Defour 7
Cork 5
Arfield 7*
Hendrick 6
Barnes 6

Pope - 7 some good saves, poor kicking and could have done better with their second?
Bardsley - 7 decent all round game
Tarka - 7 welcome back
Mee - 7 blocked pretty much everything, could have done better with their second?
Taylor - 7 good cross for the goal but doesn't get forward often enough and he's not Ward
JBG - 8* our only creative spark
Cork - 6 too many misplaced passes
Defour - 6 dumb free kick to give, resulted in their winner
Arfield - 7 ran himself to a standstill
Hendrick - 6 did ok but just not a natural in that position
Barnes - 8 covered every blade of grass

Pope - 7 - couldn't really be faulted for the goals.
Taylor - 6 - Lacked anything going forward today and failed to block the cross for their first.
Mee* - 8 - Thought he played well today, stood out for me - would have given him a 9 if not for their winning goal. - MOTM
Tarky - 7 - As above
Bardsley - 6 - Seemed petulant and failed on a couple of efforts to put a good ball in on the rare occasions he pushed up to help JBG going forward
Arfield - 6 - Offered very little but always a willing runner
Defour - 6 - Lacked support around him today
Cork - 4 - Looked very tired and off the pace, the worst I've seen him play.
JBG - 7 - Would have been a 6 but he scored, good anticipation for the goal - had no support all game from Bardsley so was fighting 1vs2 all the time.
Hendrick - 4 - Why he's still being played as a CAM I've no idea, about the 4th game in a row he's been out of position and played apallingly.
Barnes - 6 - Held the ball up fairly well, but without a CAM or support from the rest of midfield had little effect on the game at all.

Pope 7
Bardsley 5
Tarkowski 7
Mee 7
Taylor 6
JBG 6
Defour 6
Cork 4
Arfield 6
Hendrick 5
Barnes 5

I'd be starting Vokes, Lowton & be tempted to put Hendrick into midfield and drop Cork for a game..... Or play a full change XI against Shitty.

Gutted we lost to a late goal.

Pope - 6 not his best day at the office, I think he could have come for the late free kick.
Bardsley - 7 did well today.
Mee - 6 got beaten for the header for the second goal.
Tarks - 7 you can see what we have missed.
Taylor - 5 struggled today with the quick pressing of pool.
Gudd - 7 played well some good balls in. Great goal, being brave.
Cork - 6 looked tired today, no surprise really.
Defour - 7 still class but a little jaded, a couple of quality balls sprayed around .
Arfield - 6 couple of chances he could have scored from.
Hendrick - 6 not his position and it shows.
Barnes- 6 normal Barnes gave everything but against some good defenders didn’t get much change today.

Liverpool time wasting against us just shows how far we have come. Shame we lost.

Pope 7 couple of good saves
Bardsley 6 a bit rash at times prefer Lowton
Tarks 7 solid
Mee 7 great tackle in first half to stop a certain goal but maybe at fault for 2nd goal. Would need to see again so benefit of the doubt 7 rather than 6
Taylor 7 a couple of Super balls in today and generally defended well. Not sure why people are saying offered nothing going forwards, some of his crossing was excellent
Defour 7 thought he was very good.
Cork 4 needs a rest looks very tired
Hendrick 6 good first half no as good second
Arfield 7 best game for a while thought he was good
JGB 7 excellent crossing and set plays. A lot rests on his shoulders with no Brady and he is delivering
Barnes 7 Decent game

Deserved a point, another frustrating one today. Poor start to both halves from us but we fought back well and I felt a draw would have been a fair result

I actually thought Bardsley did quite well today, the lack of support Gudmundsson had came from midfield and Hendrick.

Pope 6
Bardsley 4 awful going forward and asleep for the tap in
Taylor 6 some good bits some poor bits especially In the winner
Mee 6 was my man of the match until he didn’t take command of the situation which led to the winner
Tarks 7 MoM
Arfield 6 defended well and got in good positions but also bit sloppy on the ball
Hendrick 6
Cork 4 Gave the ball countless times and brushed aside with ease in the build up to the first goal
Defour 6
JBG 7 often crowded out and given almost zero support by Bardsley but scored and tried to be creative.
Barnes 4 Movement poor, dominated by Loveren, hold up play and touch were more miss than hit.

10 games in 37 days from Sunday 26 Nov (Arsenal) thru to today - not surprised some legs are a little tired.

Injuries picked up through this period can't have helped.

12 points from 10 games - a reasonable return, probably, given includes 4 games against "big 6."

Now, given we've got a big away following for FA Cup, what team do we put out on Saturday? And, do the tired legs get a few days away in the sun?

Probably a game in which we should have settled for 1-1, but still very undeserved by the bindippers

Pope 7 - thought he could have come for the winner, but maybe being harsh
Bardsley 6 - needs to get forward more
Mee 7 - solid
Tarkowski 8 - give us an extra dimension with his passing
Taylor 6 - lacks the experience to know when to go and when not to. Will get it though and did ok today
JBG 8*- our only attacking outlet, which isn't helping him but still very good
Cork 6 - did ok, but probably needs a break
Defour 7 - looks like he could run all day, which shows what a remarkable turnaround he has had this year
Arfield 7 - did well I thought
Hendrick 6 - ok in patches, frustrating in others
Barnes 7 - did well considering

Subs
Vokes 6
Wells 6

Another game in which we have to take the chances we created in the first half, and another one in which a last minute set piece kills it for us. We are still an excellent side, but we have to take those chances. Its cost us in both the last two games. Still very happy with how we did and where we are though.

Pope 7 - one absolutely superb save
Bardsley - 6 - a tough one for him today
Tarks - 7 - some really nice touches
Mee - 7 - could have done better on the second goal
Taylor 7 - superb cross for the goal, wish there had been more of them
JBG - 7 - our major outlet of creativity
Cork -5 - really seemed off the boil today
Defour - 6 - see Cork
Hendrick - 6 - some nice touches but this is a tough role for him
Arfield - 7 - good game especially defensively
Barnes - 7 - Not much to feed on but MOM for me.
Vokes - 7 - very effective.

Pope 6
Bardsley 6
Tarkowski 7
Mee 7
Taylor 5
JBG 8 (+1 for goal)
Defour 6
Cork 6
Arfield 7
Henrdick 5
Barnes 7

Vokes 7

Thought Vokes made a big difference. Started to hold the ball up and win headers whereas it just seemed to bounce off Hendrick.

I think today the Christmas fixtures caught up with us as a couple of players looked jaded plus we were playing a top class side. Very impressed with work rate of both teams and how the game was played, tough but fair. One interesting thing of note was Klopp stood in the centre circle during warm-up just watching the Clarets. He never took his eye off us.

Pope 6 Not much to do TBH but awful kicking once more.
Taylor 5 He has a lot to learn but does the physical stuff well.
Mee 8* Solid game from Sir Benjamin
Tarky 7 Welcome back. Solid game.
Bardsley 6 He is a bit gobby to the rest of the players and should concentrate on his own game. He is a very talented player and I can see how he is keeping Lowton out though.
Arfield 6 Some nice touches from Scotty but he lacks pace.
Defour 6 Jaded.
Cork 5 Jaded
JBG 7 They doubled up on him which is a compliment. He is our one bright spark at the moment and Klopp knew this.
Hendrick 4. Sorry Jeff you were not a the races today. Should have been hooked at half time IMHO.
Barnes 6 Worked so hard but lacked any support.

Pope 7 did his job well but distribution wobbly
Bardsley 5- time for Lowton ,he’s full on is Phil but slow as an armchair and useless final balls
Tarkowski 7 good to be back and solid
Mee 6.5 not his best but brilliant 1st half intercept
Taylor 6 - great ball for the equaliser for average
JBG 8 mom well taken goal and worked bloody hard
Defour 7 always busy though a tad tired
Cork 6 ok but as above
Arfield 7- braveheart as ever good goal effort but limited
Hendrick 5 seems a bit lost in his role
Barnes 6 won a few free kicks but little else

Tough conditions for a slightly tired team to play in.a touch unlucky as matched Liverpool.Though were as slow as I’ve ever seen a Burnley side felt we missed Lowton and Ward a bit this last week

Pope 7 made a couple of good saves. Nothing anyone could do about the first, and the second wasn't down to him
Bardsley 5 not his best, I was screaming don't give away a stupid free kick but he did........
Tarkowski 7 good game
Mee 6 plays great, BUT it's normally his little mistakes that cost us. His poor header out against Utd, his failure to pressure that final free kick.
Taylor 6 I think he's ok at defending, but still needs to improve going forward.
JBG 8 mom becoming a real star, it's such a shame he's doing so much of the donkey work on his own, with no Brady on the other side.
Defour 8 very good game, bar one poor pass
Cork 5 glimpses of his old self today, but I've marked him down because he just looks so much off the pace compared to early season.
Airfield 6 ok
Hendrick 5 another ineffective game. Gives the ball away horribly in some good positions.
Barnes 7 I thought Ash did well, considering Liverpools CH's were playing for their places

I'm another who would like to see Ash playing off Sam. Much more dangerous going forward, and capable of being as big a nuisance to the opposition when pressing as Jeff.
It's fine margins. We have a fantastic team, better than that really, the best we've ever had, but still just that little bit away from being seen as a real top 7 team by the rest of the footballing world.
Should have had 7 points from the last 3 games, but our naivety has brought us only 2. Very fine margins.

I thought Liverpool put out a super side with AA at fullback the only real weakness. Two holding midfielders nullified Hendrick but he was needed to track back when they had the ball so we couldn’t go 442.

The finish by Mane was the difference. Arfield nearly matched it with a fantastic piece of technical skill to curl one first time with his wrong foot just wide of the post (I was right behind it). One or two of ours struggled with the level - Taylor and Hendrick primarily.

Cork wasn’t suited to the horrendous weather, it was a day for machines not for craft players.

We are matching sides like this though bar one or two moments - incredible progress, and not a fluke. You just sense that against mid table and lower sides we will continue to churn out points. Leicester are the only side I see overhauling us.

Pope - 7
Bardsley - 7 Seen some 5's from Lowton fans...
Tarks - 7
Mee - 8
Taylor - 7 Great assist and should get forward much more just needs confidence
JBG - 8 Plus 1 for the goal
Cork - 4 Hate to give such a low score but should have been rested
Defour - 6 Again looked tired and not his usual self
Hendrick - 5 Looked poor for weeks minus Man U
Arf - 6 Great effort can't really knock him but very poor on the ball
Barnes - 5 Can't lead the line on his own, Vokes is the better option in a 4-5-1

Vokes - 7 Helped get us back in it, should have started and given a run in the team without Wood

So disappointing to concede so late however we were a point point at best. Solid as ever but with Barnes up top on his own, no Brady and tired legs in CM we lacked any attaching quality.

I think Bardsley and Taylor have done us proud however, for Palace, back to Lowton and Ward and Vokes up top, fire those croses and balls into him like Chelskea.

pope - 7 a couple of very good saves, kicking not great but in difficult conditions. thought he could have done better with the winner from the other end of the ground.

bardsley - 6

tarkowski - 7 good to have him back, as well as long has done. a bit hollywood at times with his passing but when he hits the mark its superb.

mee - 7

taylor - 6 again, he's still finding his feet a bit and clearly under instruction to be a bit cautious and get the defending right first. lovely cross for the goal

cork - 5 looking a bit leggy, unsurprisingly

defour - 7

arfield - 8 seems to like playing liverpool. unlucky not to score a couple, the one with his wrong foot was almost a carbon copy of the one he bagged at anfield

gudmundsson - 7 great anticipation to follow in and get the goal that his recent performances have deserved

hendrick - 5 liverpool made a point of shutting him down in between the lines and he didn't really know how to combat it

barnes - 6 unlucky with his volley in the second half. not a great day for him though, he was dominated in the air by lovren and we looked a lot better when vokes came on.

the first half was like watching 22 blokes with hangovers amble about as neither side seemed to want to take hold of the game and try to win it. second half wasn't that much better and a point would have been a fair result. poor defending has cost us though, its a really soft goal to concede.

Pope 7-Not seen replay of 2nd goal but feel Pope could have been more proactive for ball in, but overall v good.
Bardsley 6-Difficult, defensively good but I can't help thinking Lowts is better offensively and links better with JBG.
Tarkowski 8-Always impresses me.
Mee 8-Thought he was immense and lead from the front. Only stain re their winner as he was partly culpable.
Taylor 6-I think Charlie is getting better game on game.
Gudmundsson 6-As above, can hesitate and slow play down. Think he would benefit from Lowts down right flank.
Defour 7-SD sets his own standards and slightly below par but still good.
Cork 5-Last 2 home games against the big boys he's been very poor by his standards.
Arfield 6- Typical Scotty, unlucky with his shot in 1st half.
Hendrick 5- never a number 10.
Barnes 8-Was certainly a handful to a very good LFC central defence without having much support until Vokes was introduced too late imo. Should have come on for JH a lot earlier.

Punished for sloppy defending.

Pope - 7 - Made a couple of decent stops.

Bardsley - 6 - Excellent defensively, with one first half last-ditch clearance particularly impressive, but not for the first time the inferiority of his distribution, and attacking impetus, compared to Lowton was noticeable. Has a tendency to attack inside Gudmundsson, which diminishes his options, and he doesn't provide anything like the same precision in his forward passing to the front men.

Taylor -6 - A couple of decent crosses later on when invited forwards, and stuck to his task well against Mane, but he's still rather too hesitant in possession and not decisive enough in his attacking play.

Tarkowski - 8 - Solid and reliable and good to have him back.

Mee - 7 - Very good until the end when he looked to be at least partly responsible for the fiasco that was their winner.

Cork - 5 - Well off his best in possession, and also a bit slow to the punch - Liverpool's winner coming as a direct result of his failure to compete for a second ball after Barnes had disrupted the clearing header in the Liverpool right back slot.

Defour - 7 - Showed impressive energy levels to keep going and pressed reasonably effectively.

Hendrick - 7 - Our best player in the first half, and the marks on here astonish me, but there we go. Less effective after the break although still far from our worst player, and I was a bit surprised it was him rather than Cork who made way when Dyche decided to go more direct.

JBG - 7- A really brave header for his goal, and a bit of a threat in the first half. Generally well shackled and not helped by the absence of an option from full back outside him.

Arfield - 7 - Our biggest goal threat and a steady influence down our left side.

Barnes - 6 - Did Ok in his hold up play but lacked composure a few times in good positions. Did pretty well when moved to the left side to use his obvious physical advantage over Alexander Arnold.

Vokes - 7 - Gave us a more composed focal point to our attack and a super header for his assist.

Wells - A cameo, but an effective one.

We weren't at our best but we deserved a point and really frustrating that a very poor bit of defending from a set play cost us that. If either team looked like they might nick a winner it was us, and one of the positives we can take from the game is that both Wells and Vokes made a really positive impact from the bench. After a slowish start, we grew into the game and probably just shaded the first half, but the second half was a bit of a scrappy stalemate until Liverpool scored and prompted us to chase the game a bit more - by moving Barnes to the left hand side we exploited Alexander Arnold's weakness in the air (something Dyche focussed on at Anfield but which we oddly failed to exploit yesterday for 70 minutes) and Vokes gave us a more composed out ball down the middle, and when Wells came on we suddenly also had the pace to worry Liverpool. With hindsight, perhaps a game when an earlier change at 0-0 might have altered the dynamics.

Still, onwards and upwards. The fine margins aren't going our way at the minute, but we're still 7th.

JBG 8
Cork 6
Rest of team 7

IMO a much better display than some on here think playing in awful conditions and against a very mobile and athletic Liverpool team. Should have settled for a point and kept things tight in the last 5 mins.

Taylor looks like he is raring to go down the left wing. Give him cover, give him the ball and he will deliver quality crosses for Barnes and Vokes.

More about tired legs than anything. We certainly have more than a few who would benefit from a rest at City - Cork and Defour being the main two. They're integral to our game and playing 90 minutes four times in just over a week is a stretch for anyone!
