Hendrick
I think he proved today where his place on the pitch should be, much more effective. Well done Jeff

Thought he was poor first half (not that he had much opportunity to touch the ball) but much better 2nd half. Much better all round really.

Re: Hendrick
Certainly a better game today from him, even though I'd always select a fit Defour in that role
Re: Hendrick
For all the Hendrick haters today demonstrated the sacrifice that Jeff has made for the good of the team. Hopefully he’ll now get a run in centre midfield.

Played ok today, still the least effective of the midfielders but the other 3 did very well to be fair.
He should start finding his feet in there again now the Burnley Yaya Toure

JBG HAS to play on the wing. And when he and Lennon were on their correct wings they were even better. A Ploy perhaps to start on one then switch?NRC wrote:Agree. And while we’re at it, JBG at #10 please with Georges out wide

Re: Hendrick
Very pleased Jeff was back nearer his best today. I was absolutely appalled at the prat sat behind me in JHU who took every opportunity to berate him and then bollocked his son aged about six for applauding him when he obviously felt he did something of merit. "Don't applaud him he's useless" At least he has now moved on from having a go at Arfield.

Re: Hendrick
Hendricks been anonymous for a while now. His current role isn't suited to him at all. He's a fairly rounded player who excels at nothing. Fine for a top championship side but not enough quality at this level I'm afraid.

Hendrick is a fantastic CM, but his confidence is shot. so some time away from the lime light and pressure will do him some good.

Re: Hendrick
Hes a decent player just a passenger in his recent role, but today the difference for me was how much better Westwood played. Top decision from Dyche to keep him on. Whilst Hendrick plays better as a CM, he probably isn't used to it now having been asked to play a number 10 role for so long.
Jeffs turn for some bench warming I hope. Just a shame it probably means we go back to 442 again when I think 451 would be great if we had a player better suited to that role than him.

Re: Hendrick
Whilst he has been poor in recent weeks, it is more the system that is being played and his unsuitability for the position that is the problem. The blame for that lies squarely with SD. Persevering with something that was not working and it has drained any confidence out of the guy. For what it is worth i thought he was better against Southampton last week without being amazing and much the same again today. He didn't play badly..the tactic wasn't what we needed to be effective in the game.

I am one of his biggest critics but today was the best performance i have seen all season from him. It was ironic that he was pulled today.

Unless dyche swaps him for westwood (which would be unlucky for westy) then unfortunately hendrick's best place is on the bench @ the moment..
Re: Hendrick
He was doing okay today, but nothing special (albeit better than some of his shockers). Just not good enough at this level in my opinion. He's had too long a run in the team.
Re: Hendrick
I'm one of his biggest critics ( as you may well know) however I thought he did ok first half, better than ok in fact.
If anyone I thought Westwood would be hooked, because of the yellow, as well as Hendrick being more of an offensive threat.
However the 2nd half showed what can be achieved when you play the correct personnel, in the correct positions.
Many fans have been screaming out for that line up and approach for weeks. Kind of seems like the post Hull game that started that 23 game unbeaten run. We've finally done what many have seen needed doing weeks ago.
But back to Hendrick, he's best game in 3 months, easily...

He was in The Fence Gate after the match. I don't think he had the same eagerness for post substitution relaxation as a previously substituted Burnley player and he had the decency to wait until the game was over.

I think if he was playing for Ireland tomorrow , in his right position against good opposition (ie Italy or France), you would see what a good player he is
Re: Hendrick
Best game in a while, had some very nice touches. Still thought he should have tracked his runner for their goal.

Re: Hendrick
Quality today - made some great moves and his touch is unreal at times.
I posted last week about confidence and today he seemed the opposite - thought at times that team mates had less confidence in him and I got annoyed with the bloke behind be berating his offside run from Barnes' ball. Made the perfect run but Barnes waited ages to release him.

IMO Hendrick is a good player just not in the "no. 10 role" for want of a better phrase
Surprised he was hooked at half time but not because I thought he was playing well but because its not very often SD makes a half time sub, a decision I thought he got spot on today.

Re: Hendrick
It was the same when got rid of McCann and paired Marney with Jones...everyone on clarets mad were holding on to their Golden boy and how it was never his fault.
Today was an example of how much better you can perform with everyone playing well.
Jeff did okay today before he went off, he played a little better than he usually does, but to be honest I expected that from him 10 games ago. Too little too late.
Those of you who think he was excellent really need to up your standards. We're in the top ten of the Premier league now and we can't afford passengers in the team.
I'm sure he will get his chance again, but I hope it's only further back. He's a good central midfielder but hasn't the versatility to play anything else. If you want the polar opposite of him look at Wayne Rooney, 10 goals in 24 games playing in a poor Everton side. Now there's a number 10.

It's alright thinking that he can't play behind the forward and/or the opinion that he's not fitting the system, but this 'passenger' shite is a load of f***ing b0llocks.

Hendrick has simply been out of position too long and it has probably knocked his confidence a bit. I didn't think he was too bad in yesterday's game but if a change had to be made (and it did) then it made more sense that he make way.
Re: Hendrick
No vendetta. He just generally hasn't played well enough. Too anonyomous too often. And too many supporters feel the same for that to be dismissed.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote:I thought he played pretty well before being subbed.

Re: Hendrick
I think Hendrick has been an ok signing. He has a presence. However he really struggles in the 10 role. He hasn’t got quick feet or a quick mind. He is ok in a more regular midfield role and he looks to have tried to do what the manager has asked if him. However he just can’t do it at this level. It is not his fault. Still I think it may stand him in good stead for the future as he has tried to add some of the skills to his game.

Re: Hendrick
It was his best game for ages. However the main reason we scored 2 and therefore won was that he went off. He is not a nr 10 for home games at least and never will be. People can have a go at people like me all they want but on this we are right and have been all along. Outcomes are what matters and yesterday was proof.
Re: Hendrick
Anyone think we will go 442 now for the remainder of the season with Barnes/Vokes and Wood?
Re: Hendrick
Think that should be the favoured format with Lennon proving what a top class right winger he is, Barnes play well and Wood too good to be not playing when fit.mdd2 wrote:Anyone think we will go 442 now for the remainder of the season with Barnes/Vokes and Wood?

Re: Hendrick
He did do better with wood earlier in the season to be fair and i think he has missed ward and in particular brady. However, going forward we need a proper nr 10. I really believe we are only that short of being the real deal.
