Pope 7 came and punched a couple of crosses, a good save low down first half.
Ward 7 solid, hope he's Ok, looked to be struggling late on
Mee 8 immense
Tarky 8 as above
Lowton 7 solid
GKN 5 poor crossing, poor corners seemed to take the wrong option time and time again.
Westwood 8 excellent
Cork 7 solid
Lennon 8 constant threat
Barnes 9 MOM . Great goal, but his game management towards the end was fantastic. Great preformance
Wood 7 seemed sluggish, reacted fastest first again for his goal, real poacher

Mr Dyche 9, I must doff my cap again, very proactive, and least gave GKN a go, we certainly pinned them in first half. Some of the ball possession was fantastic to watch as we caressed it around the park like Barcelona.
JBG would have had a field day today.
Great display only tainted by their consolation, as we never got out of first gear, we held them at arms length and had the game where we wanted it.

Pope 8 Made the save when he had to
Lowton 7
Mee 8
Tarks 7 Mistake for goal
Ward 7
GKN 5 Promised a lot. Delivered nothing
Westwood 8 Possibly his best Burnley performance
Cork 7
Lennon 8 see Westwood comment
Barnes 9 inc 3 for the goal. What a finish.
Wood 7 Looked jaded but did what he does best

Another very good TEAM performance

Pope 8 - not a foot wrong
Lowton 8 - very good pass in the gap for Woods goal
Tark 8 - calm as always and excellent defensively again
Mee 8 - typical Mee really
Ward 8 - standard Ward, never drops below a 7/10.
GKN 7 - good performance, his first ever PL start. Raw as hell and with more game time I'm sure his final ball will improve. 1 or 2 really good defensive contributions inside our own box and had a hand in the first goal when drifting in from the left.
Westwood 9 **MOTM** - wasn't sure about him after watching him play bits and pieces last year, since Defour's injury, Westwood has probably the been the best player in the team.
Cork 8 - another excellent display, had a tough spell when we went on the winless run, back to pre-Christmas Jack Cork now though.
Lennon 9 - fits us perfectly, tireless in defence and top draw going forward.
Barnes 9 - WHAT A FINISH
Wood 8 - Another game, another goal, lethal.

Dyche 10 - loved watching today again, even if we'd have conceded late on and drew 2-2 i'd of been happy with the performance and the intent to go and get at them. I can't remember the last time I gave poor marks on the player rating thread, simply nothing to moan about, I love it.

Hi KRBFC, everything is looking right with the world when you enjoyed the game so much. Great post.

Agree GKN made a great contribution to open up WBA for Ash's goal.

Yeah but I do nothing but post negativity and bash the club at every opportunity, haven't gave low marks or moaned about the performance in nearly 2 months. People will always have selective reading though, not my problem :D

Pope - 7
No chance with the goal. Everything else was routine.

Lowton - 7
Played well but I thought his crossing was below average for his own high standard.

Tark - 7
Defensively strong but poor for their goal.

Mee - 8
Calm, dominant and strong.

Ward - 7
Struggled to link with GK although not necessarily his fault.

Lennon - 9
I thought Lennon was brilliant today, fast and tricky just as a winger should be.

Cork - 8
Westwood - 8
Our 2 central midfielders were both on top form. It's great to see Westwood come in and play so comfortably after being on the bench most of the season.

GK - 6
Eager to impress but sadly didn't perform. More starts and more confidence will see him shine. Needs to learn that simple pass is always an option.

Barnes - 9
Ashley on currently form is immense.

Wood - 8
Didn't notice he was playing until he scored his goal but as long as he is scoring that's fine by me. +1 for the goal.

From a very good stream. Bossed it basically, should have been out of sight in the first half but a very deserved win.

WBA are bobbins, but you can't play football if you let Pulis buy all the players as they fit his style and it shows.

The time wasting by us at the end was outstanding, and hopefully the players kept mentioning to the WBA players that its annoying isn't it, but hey, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Pope 7 - solid
Lowton 8 - very good again and another assist
Tarkowski 7 - poor for the goal, but good overall
Mee 8 - hope he signs a new contract
Ward 7 - solid as always
Nkdundu 7 - not a bad performance, certainly something to build on
Cork 8 - excellent
Westwood 9* - he was everywhere, and recycled it brilliantly
Lennon 8 - looks an inspired signing
Wood 6 - poor to be honest, but got a goal
Barnes 8 - what a strike

Subs
Vokes 6
Hendrick 6

Long may this continue, because this season could be absolutely epic and a European tour is looking a real possibility.

N'Koudou was involved a lot but not much in the way of end product. Wood seemed hardly involved but then had end product.

Lowton 7 - nice pass for the first goal solid

Ward - 7 - Decent enough though exposed for speed
Lennon -8 fast and tricky good game
Westwood - 7 slotting in well solid
Cork - 8 - back to his best
GKN - 7 very rusty but touch of class bit greedy
Barnes - 8 - what a goal but average otherwise
Wood - 7 1 for goal not a lot to do

A cracking team effort and fantastic Barnes goal to get us moving effectively.
Nkoudou had a lot of the ball and tracked back as demanded. Some good stuff but lacked pace! Odd statement but he stood still as soon as confronted, so any momentum lost. Wayward final ball on occasion. Still young and first start.

Whatever ratings are given on here, they're unlikely to be as damning as those given by Naftaly Frenkel on the BBC to a WBA player. Comment 27.

Just trying to work out your method of scoring. Pope 7 'solid', Nkoudou 7 'not bad'. Any chance you could expand a little more on how you arrive at this please LancasterClaret? Not trying to start an online argument, you're entitled to your opinion, I'm just interested that's all.

Pope - 7 - One good save at the end of the first half, one dropped cross in the second half, but otherwise a relatively quiet but solid afternoon.
Lowton - 7 - A little bit casual at times in the first half, but involved in the first goal and solid enough as the game wore on.
Ward - 7 - Nice and reliable, although he struggled to get in on the overlap as often as normal.
Tarkowski - 6 - Thought he was sloppy by his usual standards throughout, and in particular for the goal.
Mee - 7 - Mr reliable - its so important we get him to sign a new deal.
Westwood - 8 - Kept the ball moving quickly and smoothly all afternoon, and did the ugly stuff too.
Cork - 8 - He and Westwood dominated the midfield in the first half, although he got a bit less tidy than his normal standards allow when WBA came into the game.
Lennon - 9 - A real pacy, direct threat all afternoon, and involve in both goals.
Nkoudou - 5 - Showed his pace, and his trickery, and his hunger to get involved and showed some promise, but his game management was pretty poor and he had probably more chances than any Burnley winger in 2 years to get on the ball in good positions and make things happen, but the truth is there was very little end product to show for it apart from one good pass on the counter from which Wood should have scored.
Wood - 7 - Ran the channels really effectively and showed great mobility, but his goal was overdue once it came given he'd missed a couple of really good chances.
Barnes - 8 - Took his goal brilliantly, and linked the game really nicely all afternoon.

Hendrick - 7 - Super pass for Lennon for our second goal, and did a solid enough job up and down the right flank in the last 25 minutes.
Vokes - 6 - Did OK in the time he was on the park.

A slightly weird and un-Dyche like Burnley performance - great in possession for periods, but a bit sloppy at others, and at times lacking in the end product to match the sweet approach play. WBA were absolutely rank, but you can only beat what is in front of you and in the first 40 minutes, we were outstanding - dominating the ball, making the pitch big and working really good positions on both flanks. We didn't make as much of them as we should have done, but we got one excellent goal a really good team move and then controlled the second half as well. Against that, we were a bit sloppy - a bit wasteful at times, and then a bit casual as we went towards half time and again once we got 2-0 up.

But its really hard to be too critical of any away win in this league, and certainly not one that takes us to 46 points with 7 games still to play.

Rarely seen BFC away from home so much in control as in first half. Weathered the pressure well when WBA came out of the second half then scored again. Bear in mind we had 3 key players still out

Pope 7
Ward 7
Mee 8
Tarks8
Lowton 7
GK 6-gave ball away, and poor crossing, but actually was very direct and caused them problems.Dont write him off
Cork 8
Westwood 8
Lennon 8
Barnes 8 including one for the goal
Wood 7

Great team effort. The togetherness in this team stands out

Pope 7 An excellent save at the end of the 1st half but struggled with the aerial bombs in the 2nd

Lowton 7 Tough day going forward
Tarkowski 7 Solid enough except for the 1 lapse for their goal
Mee 8 Tough day especially with the 2nd half aerial bombardment
Ward 8 Usual solid performance against some very direct play

Lennon 9 Looks better each week
Westwood 9* Brilliant to watch today
Cork 9 Back to his pre Christmas form
GKN 6 Tried hard, showed lots of raw talent

Barnes 9
Wood 7

Vokes 6 Looked understandably rusty
Hendrick 6 Defensive work is not one of his strengths

Hendrick - 7 - Super pass for Lennon for our second goal, and did a solid enough job up and down the right flank in the last 25 minutes.

When he got tackled, and the ball fortunately fell to Lowton who then played a great ball to Wood you mean?

We all have our favourite players, and your assessments are mostly balanced and fair ( or so they seem ) but your assessment of Hendrick is wide of the mark today.

Hendrick did a great job of slipping that ball out to Lowton whilst riding the tackle.

No, I mean the pass that went where, from the away end, you could see he intended to play it. It might have taken a bobble off the defender as well, I'm not sure, but im pretty sure the pass was one Hendrick was aiming to play. But I'm also taking about the rest of his performance, which was solid and helped us neutralise the threat of Brunt down their left. No coincidence the goal, and both their subsequent chances, came from the other flank.

Hendrick wasn't great, but he was solid in his 25 minutes on the pitch. In fact his performance wasn't particularly noteworthy either way so I'm a bit surprised you've drilled into it.

Sorry but Hendrick did not mean to pass the ball for the second goal - he got tackled and the ball was luckily diverted

Can’t say I noticed him much for the rest of the game. We didn’t play great in that last 20 minutes in terms of possession.

Game management and in control for 80 minutes, got a bit hairy in the last ten minutes, although we seem to be learning how to run a clock down,
Westwood and Cork bossed that game.
Barnes played very well again.
Pope's distribution very good, used the short throw and a great long throw to GKN who set up Wood, very few long kicks.
Positive from Dyche to play two wide men and two strikers especially away from home
Excellent turn out from the fans and a decent reasonably priced fanzone, good day all around.

I might be the only one but I thought Brunt was anonymous until Hendrick came on, he had Hendrick on toast, he looked like a Northern Irish version of David Beckham and then fluffed a sitter at the end.

You praised Hendrick for having a hand in the 2nd goal when he got tackled but ignored the fact GK found nice space in midfield off the left and layed it out wide for the first goal. We all know you love Hendrick but it's gone abit far I think. Are you related?

Hendrick was fine. He did a job out of position, again, and whilst Brunt got in one good delivery, it was pretty much the only one they got in all afternoon and that shouldn't be a reflection on Hendrick.

Not for me I'm affraid. Wanted a foul, looked to be coming inside, we really are clutching at straws if we believe he meant that..
A stroke of luck, which we are more than happy to accept.
He did a job out of position, nothing special though IMO.

That pass from Nkoudou was 4 passes before the goal. It was a perfectly competent pass but it's the sort of pass all of our midfielders, including our more maligned ones, have been making all season (and indeed for ages) - a well weighted simple pass into space.

I don't agree with you regarding Brunt by the way and I don't think the events of the game bear you but each to their own.

I don't "love" anybody our players, incidentally. Just support all of them. Including Nkoudou, who as ive said showed some promise yesterday, even if his end product and team play in possession was extremely raw. There's some folk getting a bit over excited about Nkoudou, just as there are other players who get unfair stick.

No time to fully rate them today, but Nkoudou was unlucky to have Livermore playing well in helping Nyom / Dawson to stop him. Lennon had far more freedom to operate. Sometimes players get harsh ratings which have an element of truth in them, but the tactics of the opposition are also a factor.

I don't personally agree, the way an opposition plays is relative to how his opposite plays, if a player comes up against better opposition who play well and he doesn't, he should justly be rated for not besting their performance.

We are sitting 7th in the premier league and may not have the budgets of other teams but we (and the players) certainly know they need to be performing better than the opposition.

By rating a player based also on how players play against him would be largely irrelevant..by taking in opposition performances into consideration upon rating you are immediately rating them, not your own player.

Been at work.

That first half was like an exhibition match. Passing the ball about with a great deal of aplomb. It felt like one, possibly too much. With more emphasis on attacking, we could have put this game to bed way beforehand; such was our dominance.

Pope 7 Obligatory saves, nothing more. Had little to do
Lowton 7
Mee 8
Tarks 7
Ward 6
GKN 5 Tried too hard for me. Obviosly has talent, mixed bag.
Westwood 8
Cork 7
Lennon 7 Not his best performance for us, but not his worst. Steady as you go.
Barnes 8 I've been saying for a long time he offers something many players don't and I include other Premier League teams in this. I love his desire to draw a foul and even niggle the opposition. Some may not like it, but he gives as good as he gets, which we sadly lack from other players.
Wood 6
