Too many women; it's not normal for mens football.

I've nothing against female commentators - but if that lass who always seems to get the Burnley games on MOTD is at Russia for the BBC I'll be watching on mute. Nothing to do with her gender, she's just wooden.

It could be worse, there could be Michael Owen. He's worse than any female commentator.

Why is aluko there? It just feels like they are trying too hard to be diverse. Its the mens world cup not the womens world cup.

I’m not a fan of female commentators at all. Not because they’re female, I just don’t like their tone of voice when associated with football. I’m sure they’re as knowledgable as anyone, it’s just personal preference.

I enjoy football on TV much more these days since I started muting the sound, as I don't like any commentator

Easier to take her and pay her than face a lawsuit for not doing.

Get with it there's not enough GBLT commentators

In all fairness I prefer male commentators. It's all agenda (and gender) driven. Soon the 5 live classified results will include the women's results.

The last few months has gone crazy in football and cricket commentary and punditry.

Seems like the only qualification you need to get a job at BBC Sport at the moment is a pair of.....

Seriously Aluko was awful today - the other lady who was with her and Ryan Giggs (Jackie Oatley ?) is not too bad but she has been doing it for a number of years and presumably got the job purely on merit at a time when there were very few women in these jobs. Gabby Yorath is also good and again she has many years experience.

The roles should be given purely on merit and knowledge of the sport being covered...and in the last few months that is simply not the case. That is discrimination.

Tydsley sounds like he spends too much time scripting what he is going to say in commentary in the hope it’ll be a moment that’ll be replayed over and over again for the next 50 years.

The amount of pundits needed for one match on either the tv or radio is ridiculous. They may as well stick a camera or microphone in a random pub and get the thoughts of everyone in there as well.

In this age of social media they could just read out message board comments or tweets, but some of those might not be diplomatic,i only caught the last 20 minutes of the Russian game and than they went to the studio and there was 4/5 pundits plus the 3/4 match commentators/experts in the ground, this was ITV so commercial television, will be curious if the BBC have the same numbers as they are claiming their budgets are getting squeezed.

The US commentary was so bad I went to satellite and watched it in Arabic. Couldn't understand a word but it was better.

Not been the same since Barry Davies hung up his mike. For me the greatest commentator of all time. When I worked at the Turf, I was heading to the Sponsors Lounge pre match and I heard a familiar voice chatting with Inchy. He was talking about a goal Everton scored v Oxford when Kendall was under pressure. It turned their season and saved Kendall's job from memory. I instantly recognized the voice before I entered the room, so familiar were his tones. Today's commentators seem to talk for the sake of talking. Davies was in the "if you can't add anything useful, say nothing" category and was so much better for it.

If that Seema Jaswal does the studio punditry on every single game, plus all the 'England training ground reports and interviews', it will have been a great WC for me :D
