They came to York in Their Thousands
Is this our 'They think its all over' moment?
Can anyone think of any other similar quotes or pieces of commentary when you think of Burnley FC?

If that is to be the one that takes them to Wembley, you cannot argue with that, pure...quality!

What about the Plymouth away commentary to get to Wembley. Wasnt along the lines of Burnleys Claret & Blue Armada will set sail for Wembley. Think they used it in that crappy Panoma Joes song with the Johny Francis goals commentary

Thompson, with a touch past Duberry. Now Paterson. A lot of space for Paterson to run into - hes going to take it on. OH GOODNESS ME WHAT A GOAL FROM PATERSON!

You know the thing about York that you didn't realise at the time?
It was the start, the comeback to where we are now.
Thinking back to my nineteen year old self then and where we are now?
Crikey

Deary coming in from the right. Good over lapping. The ball comes into the area. Might come to Parkinson who gets it. Shoots! keepers not saved it! It's gone in! It's gone iiiiin! Burnley have done it!! Gary Parkinson who was playing reserve team football at the start of the season has scored for Burnley to seal promotion!!!

I will never forget that night as long as I live sat behind the Director's box in the York End.
Full of Burnley fans.

Totally agree with that. We turned a corner that night and although there's been loads of ups and downs since, the general trend has always been up.Lancasterclaret wrote:You know the thing about York that you didn't realise at the time?

Re: They came to York in Their Thousands
Already mentioned the Clarke Carlisle commentary at Wembley, must be something from that, “What an awesome day, just look at the fans”.
“Bolton is a good job for someone else. I will stay at Burnley just as long as I’m wanted,” or do we not include lies?
There will be a whole raft of Bob Lord classics.

I was stood in the Bee Hole end after walking from the Longside on a match against Newcastle in the 70s boxing day
It was getting quite dull as the floodlights had not been turned on
This bloke cries out "Miller you leper get ten bob in that meter"
Dont know to this day why it was anything to do with Brian but quite funny at the time

Ah York away on that unforgettable night
Re: They came to York in Their Thousands
“We had no celebration,” Grewcock recalls. “We went to the players’ lounge, had a couple of beers, and everyone dispersed and did their own thing, I went out for a meal with friends. It was just a sense of relief. The buildup was horrible, not a pleasant situation to be in, I feel for every team now that’s in that position.”
