I'd have Charlie back any day of the week if I thought he'd be fit enough to give us enough gamesHendrickxz wrote:Sooner have Charlie Austin any day. He was the better striker for my money.

I`d be happy to take a risk on getting Charlie Austin back here - he's got quite a bit of baggage too but he is a natural goalscorer.
His injury record has been worrying last season but when he played he was the only player who looked like scoring for Southampton.
If his injuries meant we could pick him for £10m its a risk that would be worth taking for me.

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
Problem with Charlie is him not playing enough games. He scores for fun but has only started 23 Premier League games for Southampton in two and a half years. That's 23 out of over 90.TVC15 wrote:I`d be happy to take a risk on getting Charlie Austin back here - he's got quite a bit of baggage too but he is a natural goalscorer.

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
I for one would not object to Ings coming back to Burnley
as long as Sean wants him here and thinks he can do a good job for us
then that's good enough for me.
Whether he does is another matter.
Ings certainly has something to prove - be it his fitness and desire to get back to where he was
whilst he was with us. I think he would be able to find a role and it could be the making of him
even though the jury is still out in terms of whether he can get back to the levels he once achieved.
If he could then he offers us something none of our other strikers has.
A potential risk admittedly but there's risks involved with whomever a club might sign.

Wow - did not realise it was that few.ClaretTony wrote:Problem with Charlie is him not playing enough games. He scores for fun but has only started 23 Premier League games for Southampton in two and a half years. That's 23 out of over 90.
He had that one injury free season when he should have played for England and then since then he's been dogged by lots of different injuries - including the shoulder one coming back to haunt him.
This must mean he's coming towards the end of his contract - so maybe if he is available at a knock down price he would be a great option. Even if you only got 15 to 20 games out of him a season his scoring record shows he would probably score 7 to 10 goals.

The exact player that we need in our system and from his brief cameos at Liverpool recently he's got all the pace, movement and intelligence he used to have. All this stuff about bad attitude and conflicts with Dyche sound spurious at best and no doubt something that two grown adults could sort out between them. Sign him up!

Never said anything about our current system.
We had Jones and Marney in the team that Ings played in and they were both perfect for that team and the style of play.
Ings was the best player in the championship that season by a country mile - that’s in a season when Vardy and Marhez were in the league !

Ings was class, but I’d rather have Rodriguez on the fitness basis.
Then again, I’d rather have Austin than either of them.
We’ve had some bloody good strikers in the last decade, you don’t realise till you recall them all.

Even going back to Payton/Cook. I actually cant remember when we didn’t have at least one class option up top.jedi_master wrote:Ings was class, but I’d rather have Rodriguez on the fitness basis.

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
Yep really - he was a far better player than fat Ross McCormack.KRBFC wrote:By a country mile when McCormack scored 28 league goals, really?
Seriously though McCormack did have a great season in a poor Leeds team but Ings was voted Championship player of the year and when you think of some of those Leicester players in the league that year many of which went on to win the Premier League it shows what a season Ings had for us.
Not sure when the last time was we had a player winning an accolade like this at such a high level - must have been a long long time ago
Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
Better player than McCormack, I agree. A better season ''by a country mile'' is the part I disagree with. I thought Knockaert was outstanding that season for Leicester. Ings was the best breakthrough player in the league, probably why he got the award. A toss up between those 3 for it really. The last Championship Player of the Year accolade? I'm sure Andre Gray won it, unless you mean before Ings? then yeah it must have been a while ago.TVC15 wrote:Yep really - he was a far better player than fat Ross McCormack.

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
If he hadn't have played for us would we really want to be linked with a knee injury prone forward with no consistent record of scoring in the Prem and no marker 're his burst of speed capacity after his last operation. Head first for me so a big no.
Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
Yep Andre Gray won it after - I don’t think he was the best player in the league that year personally but I did think that with Ings as if he wasn’t scoring goals he was still making them for Sam Vokes and contributing a lot more to the team than Gray would when he was not scoring.KRBFC wrote:Better player than McCormack, I agree. Good player. Left maybe not on the best terms and has had seriius injuries. I think Trippier helped to make him the player he was for us and now we know just how good Tripps is

There are a lot of strikers at top 6 sides who wouldn’t sign for us due to not being first choice. That’s the level we have risen to. Ings is just one example.

Best football yes. Because we had Trippier and WALLACE as well.TVC15 wrote:He’ll go West Ham or Bournemouth
He will then have a really unlucky serious injury in a pre season friendly against Weston Supermare Rovers after looking very sharp in the first 20 minutes !
In all seriousness i’d have him back because I loved him as a player - I thought he was brilliant for us and the best forward we have had in many years. He also brought the very best out of Vokes and that season was the best football I think we have played under Dyche - albeit at a lower level than we are operating at now.
Ain’t got a clue if he is ever capable of recapturing that form with his injuries but if he was he would walk into our team.
