Are We Actually Going to Sign Anyone?
Right, I know we have the distraction of the World Cup and that is temporarily going to slow down any activity, but now that the Dawson/Jayrod fiasco seems dead in the water do we have any targets at all? I seek in vain for even a glimmer of a ghost of a rumour. We could use another decent striker, probably a wide midfielder (although with everyone fit that is not as urgent) and a CB for cover if nothing else, and that is if no-one actually leaves. I know us Clarets are used to having to wait (and wait and wait) but this is getting silly. If we do half as well in the Europa as I think we will we are faced with a lot of games with more chances of injury and suspensions (I don't count 'tiredness', pro footballers should have no problem with two games a week) so what is the score? Anybody know anything? Only rumours we hear are about players leaving (although other than maybe Vokes I don't think they will and if he goes that will make the need for another striker even more desperate).
I think we might just need to loosen the old purse strings a little.

Re: Are We Actually Going to Sign Anyone?
No. Or possibly yes.
But if a rumour would help, I can officially confirm from an unnamed and entirely fictional source that we are going to sign a League 1 centre half as backup, ready to be trained to England standard as usual.

West Brom will bring Bartley in from Swansea for £3.5m by the weekend.
This should see Dawson coming here for £22m

Re: Are We Actually Going to Sign Anyone?
We definitely will not sign anyone.
Our foray into Europe will be a disaster resulting in our being relegated.
Or I could be completely wrong and it will be another wondrous season.
Who know, who cares?

Everything I read seems to suggest it is. Last I heard they were still wanting 40m for the pair and 20m for Jay is a big ask for a 7 goal striker.quoonbeatz wrote:t'isn't.

Hold on mate, it's not THAT serious. I think we might hear more now that Dyche is back from coaching Uruguay.ElectroClaret wrote:Nope. Not a one. Sack the board and get a decent manager in.
Re: Are We Actually Going to Sign Anyone?
Yeah but I think we'll start the season without getting in the numbers we wanted/needed. Less than a month left, I think we'll get 2 in.
Re: Are We Actually Going to Sign Anyone?
As usual we've got our targets and we'll wait all summer if needs be to get them, or make do with what we've got if we can't.
There are signs WBA may be letting Dawson out soon, but I'm not sure where we stand with Jay at the moment.

The window shuts on the 9th August, 3 weeks earlier than previously before. I believe the window has been open for 8 weeks already.sculptureofman wrote:It's the 10th of f*cking July

It’s starting to feel like 14/15. Chasing Dawson and ending up with Juke, Sordell and Reid...KRBFC wrote:The window shuts on the 9th August, 3 weeks earlier than previously before. I believe the window has been open for 8 weeks already.

Well I care Corky the Cat old boy. My wife doesn't though, she has as much interest in the comings and goings at Turf Moor as I have on Love Island (in fact the only thing I know about that is it's title).Corky wrote:We definitely will not sign anyone.

Re: Are We Actually Going to Sign Anyone?
No we won't and apparently Wells to W Brom, Barnes to A Villa and Vokes to Boro so when Wood gets injured we will be completely toothless. Hope that puts your mind at ease

The rumours make the transfer window interesting and provide something to get potentially excited about, so far it's been a long boring 7-8 weeks in the transfer window of nothing but predictable links to players we've been chasing for years.edison wrote:Why when 99 per cent turn out to be nonsense?

Re: Are We Actually Going to Sign Anyone?
Remember when Leeds tweeted out about `more transfer news to come' or words to that effect - then announced they sold someone and that was the end of their business. That was pretty funny
Re: Are We Actually Going to Sign Anyone?
This is the point of football. It's good during the season when we're playing, but it's boring in the summer when we're not playing.KRBFC wrote:The rumours make the transfer window interesting and provide something to get potentially excited about, so far it's been a long boring 7-8 weeks in the transfer window of nothing but predictable links to players we've been chasing for years.

Don't some people ask this every transfer window.
Yes I'm sure we will.

Re: Are We Actually Going to Sign Anyone?
As long as we have enough players for the next game. No need to look beyond that.

Think we’ll get Dawson and Jayrod. Maybe a winger also. Gotta keep the faith.

The transfer window isn’t supposed to be interesting. If you get excited by us being linked with players then you need to grow up.KRBFC wrote:The rumours make the transfer window interesting and provide something to get potentially excited about, so far it's been a long boring 7-8 weeks in the transfer window of nothing but predictable links to players we've been chasing for years.

Shall we watch this space?
Re: Are We Actually Going to Sign Anyone?
I wouldn't like to consider myself as a knee-jerker but if I understand correctly there is just one month to go before the window shuts. And we haven't signed a single player. The LET or BE (I can't remember which) says "Burnley still haven't given up hope on Ben Mee signing a new contract). I'm now thinking he's not going to (I hope beyond hope I'm wrong).
I think we should tell West Brom thanks for wasting our time but we've got to get new bodies in the building. And then sign at least one new CB (at the very least).

A bit of transfer speculation is a good thing. At least it brings a bit domestic football debate during the close season.

Thank God for that, my 32oz Porterhouse Steak was overcooked last time I was there, the Vinaigrette was overly acidic, and the less said about the Plum Duff the better .....
