Rain !!

Post by Clarets4me » Mon Jul 16, 2018 7:54 pm

Lots of it ! A lovely deluge for about 7 minutes, just under an hour ago, then bits on and off for the last hour... Lets hope plenty fell on Winter Hill and the other Moorland areas...
Underrated is rain ! ;) ;)

Agree, the wildlife that depend on it will as well, the worms probably won't agree.

I have been leaving the conservatory door open in the evenings for weeks. Kept looking at the rain out of the front window getting excited because I don’t have to water the allotment like a bloody idiot and eventually went round the back to see a flooded conservatory. What a dick!

It really came down, but the ground is so dried out it just sat on top and flooded a large part of the garden! Weather states back to warm and dry tomorrow though.

It rained here about 7.30... I went outside to WATCH it for about 10 minutes.

My brother told me about Fijian lads or whatever in the Army in Germany crawling out of their tents at 3am just to "watch" it snow... They'd never seen it before.

I can honestly say I knew how they felt!

Thats not rain, what about the abandoned boxing day game against Port Vale in 1994? Now THATS rain. The Longside was full so had to go in the Bee Hole end, soaked to the skin, and as i walk on never got a refund or a ticket for the rearranged game.On the plus side i think we were losing 2-1 and seem to remember the Tinman scoring a cracker. We won the rearranged game 4-3 as well.

Well we didn't get any, not a drop. :(
I was hoping for a good downpour as advertised on the bbc weather app to fill my water butts. Can't ever remember them running out.
The butts are on either side of the house solely for watering a couple of hanging baskets each. Out of the 200 litre capacity they are down to less than 10 litres in each. :o
Probably a good time to give them a good clean out I suppose.

''A hosepipe ban was introduced in Northern Ireland at the end of June.''

Unbelievable virtually every weather forecast in the winter seems to show rain or clouds over NI.

A while ago now mate! Late 90’s - Mid 2000’s. I played there for Barnstaple and ilfracombe. I think there were two different cleavdon teams. The western premier team went on to the southern league and one (clevedon united?) played in western league 1

Football and Rugby pitches agin one another, lots of mud and plenty of beer afterwards. Clevedon United are still there.
Clevedon Town sold their stadium for housing and are now on the outskirts at what was the Hand stadium, now known as the Everyone active stadium.
