Not messing about those lot, just signed Alireza Jahanbakhsh from AZ, impressive signing. 8th summer signing, 6 outfield players from abroad and 2 British based reserve goalkeepers. They're certainly making the most of that ridiculous income from PL survival.

Anyone you think "Oh wow!"
Not sure you know, looks like they know they haven't learned about quality over quantity yet.

Dont. only response you will get is but did they finish 7th thats what i got . I agree they have spent well and bought some very good players
Re: Brighton
top goalscorer in Dutch league last year, plays out wide, impressive World Cup for Iran. Club record fee, must have a bad attitude.

Excellent stats for a wide player....Vino blanco wrote:You're easily impressed.
Alireza Jahanbakhsh for AZ Alkmaar since 2015:
111 appearances
37 goals
31 assists

Re: Brighton
I think saying he had an impressive World Cup is a bit of an overstatement. He didn’t stand out in any of there performances.
None of them players would get in our first team so why have they had an excellent window.
The only teams on a similar level to burnley that have had a good summer are West Ham and wolves.
All the other teams have signed players that wouldn’t get in our starting x1

The cheating and the scummy way they played was an embarrassment, is this all an act or are you always this petty and thick? Do I really need to explain the difference between an individual in a team and a team of individuals?Tall Paul wrote:But you said Iran were an embarrassment to the World Cup, how can you think any of their players were impressive?

Re: Brighton
Apart from Suarez and Van Persie has there been any other top players come out of that league recently? They all come with an amazing pedigree (Depay, narsingh etc...) but they are all pretty crap in the premier league to be fair.
I will be surprised if he gets more than 2-3 goals for them this season.

Re: Brighton
To be fair, on paper that is an impressive signing.
Im still sympathetic with our stance on transfers but there's no doubt we're beginning to fall behind our rivals this summer and its just getting a touch concerning.
This kid might not be exactly what we need right now given our other wide options and his price tag, but still.

The Dutch League is not much stronger than the SPL,maybe this guy will buck the trend but i doubt it,Brighton aren't exactly the most prolific team either,Glenn Murray was relied on heavily last season.
Re: Brighton
Brighton have exactly what we don’t, an established and impressive European scouting network that has yielded some good players for them over the last few years for relatively cheap prices.

8 signings in one window... Tells you that they are not good enough... Big job getting that to gel! Either that or a few unnecessary signings...

Re: Brighton
Irrespective of some eye catching signings, I’d have fancied Brighton to progress this season in a similar manner to us. Hughton’s an underrated manager and they are a club with excellent infrastructure and community focus.
Good luck to them, don’t mind them myself.

he's older and far more experienced so there's no guarantee it will end the same way - Dyche is way better now than he was 5 years ago

Eriksen, Vertonghen, Alderweireld haven't done too badly with Spurs and all played for Ajax.

And for the last ever so many seasons that impressive scouting network has managed to get them to finish below Burnley in the league table, despite 30k home crowds and a multi millionaire owner.ksrclaret wrote:Brighton have exactly what we don’t, an established and impressive European scouting network that has yielded some good players for them over the last few years for relatively cheap prices.

Since when? Half of their regular 11 during the Championship season weren't British..... Bong, Knockaert, Hemed, Kayal, Bruno, Hunemeier, Skalak aren't British and were all big players for them. Re: Brighton
We can limit ourselves to this market, but as this window has shown, the potential transfer fees and wages can be tricky to overcome,to answer your question we don't have just British and Irish players,Defour,JBG,Wood, arguably three of our most creative players and likely match winners aren't British/Irish.Spijed wrote:So are you saying we can't compete in the PL by just signing British or Irish players?
Will any Premier League or Championship teams ever have an all British line-up again,i very much doubt it,a major factor in this is the lack of talent coming from North of the border,it wasn't long ago most top-flight sides had at least one Scottish player on their books, now the only regular starter is Robertson at Liverpool.

2/11 of Brighton’s starting XI at Turf Moor this year was British. A further 1 was Irish. Their front line behind the striker come from Colombia, Germany (Groß - their star player who cost £3.5m) and France.IanMcL wrote:Not sure you understand the significance of such a change, on a group.

Went through all the transfers last night from other clubs and must say that Brighton’s is the worst business by a mile in my opinion.
A load of shite from leagues that more often that not fail in the Prem.
Huddersfield’s business is bang average too.

Remember Afonso Alves was an absolute beast in Holland. Boro spent a load of cash on him and he was utter garbage.

Hughton did the same at Norwich. Bought the likes of Wolfswinkel etc. He ended up sacked and Norwich went down.
