It's amazing isn't it the amount of Clarets moaning and groaning and not trusting in Dyche and the Board....
What a fantastic window...so far! Still think we will see 1 or 2 more yet!!!!

Re: What a bloody window!
I was just about to type something similar Zizkov. Tying current key members down on extended contracts, the incomings, the possibility that we are not done yet too, I mean, if it gets better than this, it will truly be amazing.
Add that all to our European adventure and a third straight season in the Premier League, and well, lost for words!

I'd feel like a massive idiot right now if I'd spent the last month or so criticising the recruitment team and transfer policy.

Re: What a bloody window!
To be fare to anyone who was moaning it has been frustrating watching as others made signings. Everyone knows including the recruitment team that it is better to have the players in early but sometimes that isn’t possible for a multitude of reasons. I never understand the moaning about money though surely we should be judging everyone not on how much we have spent but on who we have bought. I personnally couldn’t care less if a player costs 20p or 20 Million as long as he is the right charecter and adds quality.

I'd ideally like to see one or two more in with Walters and Wells outgoing. If we manage that, it will have been a fantastic window. As it stands, I'm pleased with our signings so far, particularly the new contract of Ben Mee.

Is there any evidence that getting players in early actually makes any difference over the course of a season?JarrowClaret wrote:To be fare to anyone who was moaning it has been frustrating watching as others made signings. I think Ben Mee was also waiting for us to show some ambition and sign players so we are hardly alone here

That wasn't a criticism of the transfer policy, it was a comment on the state of the transfer market.Claretto wrote:When he said we probably can't compete at this level long-term...

Re: What a bloody window!
Hart is a similar signing to Tony Waiters in 1970. Incidentally, Waiters had a dark blue Ford Escort camper van. Just goes to show how wacky some of these folk are.

There's no pleasing some. Define quality what Burnley could realistically bring to the club?

Really?BOYSIE31 wrote:We still require better quality
And what would you expect us to achieve if we did get better quality? Win the league, qualify for the Champions league? Win the FA cup? Win the Europa league?
What's up with finishing 7th?

Are they bollix. He was saying we can't compete with the top six. (And other richer clubs.)Claretto wrote:They are one and the same.
Which we can't.
And when you say "the policy must keep up with the market." , where do you suggest we
get the extra hundreds of millions of quid we'd need to "keep up" with the likes of Chelsea, City. etc.?

He didn't say anything about the top 6. He said we can't compete with the rest of the Premier League.
He also said the club needed to open its mind regarding spending.

Re: What a bloody window!
Why would they? Most had a point and as people have said Dyche effectively said the club needed to get the balance right implying iy wasnt quite.
I aslo suspect a narrow squeak against Aberdeen raised a few eyebrows when we had v little difference on thr bench going into the last 20 minutes. I thought Aberdeen did well but over 2 legs thry shouldnt really have got that close

Re: What a bloody window!
Personally think we are a winger short with Brady just coming back from injury.
Re: What a bloody window!
The same can be said of every underdog in a cup competition. For example, should Man City have put ten past Wigan last season instead of losing?BabylonClaret wrote:I thought Aberdeen did well but over 2 legs thry shouldnt really have got that close

Re: What a bloody window!
Probably and Wigan rode their luck a bit but that was a one off game at their place. Over 2 legs (or a draw and a replay) you expect the better team to win.Spijed wrote:The same can be said of every underdog in a cup competition. We didnt create enough at home once we went in front (albeit thwir keeper made some crucial saves to keep thrm in it) and that we had little difference on the bench to switch up as the Dons dug in was clear.

Re: What a bloody window!
Cracking window but we still need a winger. JBG, Lennon, Brady and Walters leaves us very susceptible to injuries, and I don't want to see Jay wasted out on the left (if we sign him).
Re: What a bloody window!
Greedy I know but would still like a winger a striker and a central midfielder

But I'm still a Happy Clapper
Re: What a bloody window!
Not sure if you are being pedantic? However just for clarity Pope and Gudmundsson were signed from a club that had been in the championship, however had been relegated to League 1 when we bought them.Longside4evr wrote:Pope and Gudmundsson was sign from Championship level even though Charlton were relegated those two players never played League One

Think the happy clappers need to calm it a bit. We’ve signed 2 decent players and a ex world class keeper.
Still a bit short for my money.

Re: What a bloody window!
Yes rw at this very moment we have signed the bare minimum, albeit good ones. The balance was tipped in favour of a good window when Ben signed up. However, me thinks the bragging from some is at bit ott atm. Also, it remains to be seen whether the lateness of it all affects tomorrow's performance, and more importantly knocks onto Sunday's. For e.g, we will be down on strikers tomorrow if Sam is out of the picture and possibly Walters. Is Wood fit?
