This thread is useless without the word 'imminent' on it.
Re: Dead line day Clarets only links
Yesterday Nixon tweeted the following:
"BURNLEY. Bolasie wages a bit higher than they want to pay. Would need help front Everton to happen. Have another winger in mind. Probably last piece of jigsaw."
Wonder who the other winger is?

Re: Dead line day Clarets only links
Bolasie and jay rod are both just a bit old for me. Antonio is that bit younger and seems more of a dyche type to me - plays multiple positions and works hard. We were linked earlier in the window. Would be great for striker/ winger options.
Re: Dead line day Clarets only links
Antonio would be the perfect middle ground if we cant or dont want both of Bolasie and Rodriguez

We definitely need another wide player. JBG Lennon and Brady all have an air of fragility about them

Baldwin has stayed in Burnley in case of any deals.

They're only a year older.Iloveyoubrady wrote:Bolasie and jay rod are both just a bit old for me. Antonio is that bit younger and seems more of a dyche type to me - plays multiple positions and works hard. We were linked earlier in the window. Would be great for striker/ winger options.
Although I think Antonio would fit the system better (assuming he is fully fit, it feels like he's spent a fair bit of time injured in the past year).
Rodriguez would be bottom of the list for me.

Told there’s no chance of Bolasie going anywhere on loan. Would have to be a permanent deal

Total speculation.
Stanley shipping more out. What chance Danny Aygei and Jimmy Dunne going there?

One of our three wide players avaijable for selection tonight
Re: Dead line day Clarets only links
If we had to make 1 signing today, I'd prefer a winger to Jay Rod, but preferably I'd take both.

Probably because the potential buyer would end up paying the difference in his wage that he tried to con us into paying more forBOYSIE31 wrote:Clucas going stoke for 6 million - coming to us for 8 million

The lad at Newcastle Matt Ritchie would fit the bill as a wide player for us.

If that was always the case though, then nobody would have stayed behind to sort out potential transfers. I'm sure there are circumstances such as today, that a telephone call would take place, instead.joey13 wrote:Dyche meets the players , try reading posts before making asinine comments

I’ve genuinely never heard anyone praise Ward-Prowese other than his set-pieces. Does he actually play or do Southampton sub him on for every set-piece?

We have been linked with him (James Ward Prowse). Numerous mentions of it on twitter, one even suggested the price of 15mill. No idea to the validity of any of them.

Could still be life in Bolasie deal, both Boro and Palace after a loan move which Everton has ruled out.
JWP deal 'close' say The Sun.

Re: Dead line day Clarets only links
He's obviously not as good, but style wise Ward Prowse has always struck me as the modern version of Beckham.
He's not quick, but he's an outstanding passer, and a good crosser when he's played out wide.
The flaw from our perspective is that his preferred flank, like Beckham's is the right - just like Lennon and JBG. However, I suspect he's a more penetrating passer than Westwood, which is something we need as an alternative to Defour when he's not around. against Aberdeen last week, we spent too much of our time struggling to pick a penetrating pass.

Spot on. He's an upgrade on Westwood IMO. It's a bonus he can play out wide if needed, but he'd be signed primarily as a CM I'm sure.claretspice wrote:He's obviously not as good, but style wise Ward Prowse has always struck me as the modern version of Beckham.

I saw Ward Prowse playing for the England U21's a few years ago and noticed that his technique and body position are virtually identical to Beckham's
And he whips in free kicks and corners that are very difficult for the opposing defence to deal with
