It wasn't difficult. There's a fixture list on the main site.
Even spice, I don't think, was complaining because we haven't got enough cover for the Espanyol game. As far as I am concerned, the reason for signing players is to help out with the games in the future; not to cover for apparent shortcomings in games that have already been played.

If Lennon isn't fit for tonight, we have 1 senior wide player available. How anybody can say we arn't a player short is baffling. What happens if Gudmundsson gets injured? Eh eh eh!

Clucas didn't turn us down though, we turned Clucas down, not the fee, not the wages, but Clucas.

I haven’t seen Dyche say that Hendrick’s role was clearly one of a midfielder so I’ll have to take your word for that. But having watched all of our games last season it was clear to me that Hendrick was playing in advance of the midfield and in support of the striker. Similar to what Barnes has been doing since he replaced Hendrick in the team and similar to what I imagine Vydra will be asked to do - granted both of those players offer less out of possession than Hendrick.

We need a strategy to make up for this serious lack of numbers caused by the tardiness of our recruitment team.
How about losing to Istanbul then we have only 4 league games before an international game. 34 games left and a fully fit squad can then move on to win the Premier League.
Masterstroke. If we had signed a few more we could easily have ended up spending far too much time and money touring Europe

He said we would have played 40 games by then, he was correct despite your attempt to undermine his opinion and be petty as usual. You knew full well 40 was an estimate yet you chose to correct it for no apparent reason.

Vydra - probably a really good fit in terms of playing style and our needs. It does make me wonder a bit about our insistence on dressing room character though. Hasn't he done to Leeds what Clucas did to us? A bit too pragmatic to be holier than thou.
It’s simple really. There’s no real footballing incentive to move from Derby to Leeds. They’re both under new management looking for a top 6 spot. The only thing that makes it worthwhile leaving is for a big salary.
Burnley on the other hand is a big step up. Clearly didn’t demand the same salary from us that he demanded from Leeds (50k a week apparently) - so that just shows it’s in fact not just about the money. It’s about the opportunity.

I chose to correct it because an estimate of 40 which is actually 33 is significantly different.
You may be better at reading Spice's mind than I am, but what he actually wrote was "we could play 40 games before then" not "we could have played 40 games before then". There's a difference.

That's relating to tonight because of the players who haven't travelled. Nothing to do with deadline day deals or this thread.
How long have we known that we were going to be playing in Europe?
It's all related and we have had months to prepare for it!

I could very well have missed something but "personal terms" is what scuppered the Clucas deal (same as Vydra) according to mainstream media sources. What's the
real story then? Is it because we signed one and not the other?

spending £20M on a few players is significantly different to ''doing a Portsmouth'' but that didn't stop you from being awkward on another thread.

Hard to demand the same salary when you've pi$$ed on your chips. Ask Clucas.

Talking about months to prepare how are those corner stands coming on? It'll be a close call between what is ready first; those corners or the opening of Rawtenstall's new bus station.

Watford after Jake Livermore on loan - would be good if we nipped in and did a Fulham. Yes I know it’s WBA again but we should be able to compete with Watford on loan terms.

If we wanted Ward Prowse and "ran out of time" it is poor. We've had plenty of time to close deals.
I hope we pull one out of the hat last minute but can't see it now.

Dyche clearly said Hendrick was playing as a number 10 - I can remember the article. He described him as a "running number 10". He did say he would drop deeper when required but he specifically referred to him playing a number 10 role nonetheless. Otherwise he wouldn't have also described it as a different position to what he had been used to in the past.

Number 10 is not really a midfielder nor a forward. I'd class it more as "support man" or "in the hole". A position which can cover both positions within seconds of eachother.

How can JPW deal be short of time as you only need to sign an intent to buy form just as long as it is registered in time providing all parties are in agreement. All the other bits can be concluded afterwards.

This is going exactly as I expected. We have been trying to sign bolasie, jrod, clucus and possibly jwp and failed because apart from jrod we left it far too late. Clucus because we knew he was injured and should have had the medical much earlier. All this at a time when we had to prepare for a big game tonight.
The club's defend at all costs brigade are out in full. Yes the 3 signings we have made are good ones but it is not enough, especially if we are serious about the EL. That my friends is constructive criticism and if you see it as moaning then you are a you know what.

For the older ones on the board, Michael Miles knew how to conclude a deal on his weekly show 'Take Your Pick'. A wad of cash in his hand waved in front of the often forlorn contestant got things done quickly and effectively. No messing about then.

We are not a 'deal early' club. Every other club in the league plus half the Championship has owners worth more than ours who can bankroll them. If we offer money for a player, teams will quite probably wait to see who else comes in for them.
This too assumes clubs are desperate to sell and since none of JWP, JayRod or Bolasie have moved yet it implies the teams were happy to sit back and wait and keep if necessary.

Never really thought we've been serious about the EL. I'm very much in the minority and since qualifying for it have only ever seen it as a probable hindrance as opposed to a possible success.(not looking for any argument/discussion on this point of view).
Our involvement so far has left us with more casualties than we had beforehand and now such a depleted squad that that doesn't bode well for a new Premier league season about to begin in earnest on Sunday. A disappointing 'window'. for me.

No really poor we have finally replaced a centre half a year later - signed a goalie up until last week would not have even been interested in signing (good goalie by the way) but for an injury to Pope and a striker from the championship who might not be able to step up.
So yes really poor and still no strength in depth and still no squad.

Gibson was a good signing but was for a position we should have filled before last season. Hart could be a good bit of business if we sell one of our other keepers next season however the signing was a forced one as we couldn't do without another keeper while Pope and Heaton are injured. Vydra may work out to be an inspired choice but the jury is most definitely out on this one as he has a lot to prove at the top level.
Its the positions we are still desperately short in especially given our injury list that shows that this HAS been a poor transfer window. We are still short someone in midfield who has the potential to score more goals and to make runs into the box, we still lack pace in midfield, need another winger with pace and guile and we need someone who was in the Marney mold. Given we had the money available and are so lacking in players who are fit then it simply isn't good enough. We need at least 3 more in January but of course these will be more expensive. It is astonishing that some teams have not only signed huge numbers of players but are still doing so right up to the last minute. It seems we are not even linked with anyone for a loan which is patently ridiculous I hope we must surely have a couple of loans in by 5.00 pm but can't think who they might be so in fact there probably won't be any. Missing out on Jay-Rod for a couple of million, losing interest in Bolasie on a permanent deal and running out of time for JPW is really poor.
