Tarkowski
Tried the search facility to try to add substance to an existing thread relating to him being poor at the end of last season.
Not today though, he was absolutely outstanding

Worth noting that for all their spending, neither Wolves or Fulham have anyone of the same quality.

Re: Tarkowski
I'm pretty sure Tarks was carrying an injury when he was "below par" at the end of last season. He stepped down from the WC reserve position and had the surgery that was necessary to get him back into shape.Get him banned wrote:Tried the search facility to try to add substance to an existing thread relating to him being poor at the end of last season.

Both Tarks and Ben Mee were back to their best today. I'm sure Ben has "cleared his mind" now that he's settled his contract situation.
And, we have Ben Gibson - and Kevin Long - as back up for our two Premier class central defenders.

You can include in this Hart, Heaton, Pope, Mee, Lowton, Gibson or Ward.Spijed wrote:Worth noting that for all their spending, neither Wolves or Fulham have anyone of the same quality.

With a bit more creativity and the strikers on form we could threaten the top 6. A big IF, but our defence is up there with the best, and strength in the bench as well.
Amazing times.

Re: Tarkowski
We all know how good tarks is. He should and soon will be playing rhs of the england back 3 instead of walker. He is every bit as good as McGuire. The best signing we made when he signed that extension. Got to be worth over 35m minimum.

I see from that link that Sparky is a completely dissolutioned twatwaffle still, Saints were nowhere near the best team today, I commented to my pal that on the 15 minute mark that was the first foray into our half.piston broke wrote:http://www.skysports.com/share/11471128

Re: Tarkowski
Mark Hughes, perhaps the last of the British managers in the Premier league still seeing things that just didn't happen. I'd give them the last 25 mins. without any argument but there were another 65 minutes prior to that where essentially there was only one side in it. He really is a dinosaur in terms of management and maybe soon Gillette Soccer Saturday wil find a slot for him,at the expense of Paul Merson, perhaps who yesterday looked like he'd had a heavy night on Friday, wearing the same clothes he'd left the house in 24 hours earlier.

Re: Tarkowski
What's Sparky supposed to say? Is he going to pick his team apart? Not if he wants his team to play again for him next week. The only managers I see possibly doing something like that are Neil Warnock or Tony Pulis.
Re: Tarkowski
In general lay I agree with you.
From corners they got the first header on the ball far too often for my liking. Needs sorting out.

I'm not getting carried away, because we don't have the creativity, or the strikers on form. It was a testament to how good our defence is. Which has only been strengthened with the addition of Hart and Gibson.fidelcastro wrote:It didn't take long for folk to get carried away, did it?

We were so much on top early on that it was 18 minutes before Joe Hart got his first touch, if I'm not mistaken.Rick_Muller wrote:I see from that link that Sparky is a completely dissolutioned twatwaffle still, Saints were nowhere near the best team today, I commented to my pal that on the 15 minute mark that was the first foray into our half

Re: Tarkowski
Spot on, we should actually have won if VAR was involved but the attacking on display was absolutely awful, no guile in midfield whatsoever....We neded to get Defour and Brady back quick....Colburn_Claret wrote:I'm not getting carried away, because we don't have the creativity, or the strikers on form. We created far more than we did in the same game last season, more than many games with Brady and Defour last season in fact.Giftonsnoidea wrote:Spot on, we should actually have won if VAR was involved but the attacking on display was absolutely awful, no guile in midfield whatsoever....We neded to get Defour and Brady back quick....

When he is on his game he is superb and we couldn't ask for more.
Let's hope this is the start of another good season and he gets International recognition as well.

Lennon, clear 1-on-1.Giftonsnoidea wrote:Cant remember any clear cut chances apart from corks non goal, you sure?
Tarkowski header on goal at end of first half produced good save.
JBG half chance after pass from Cork.
Ward shot at start of 2nd half.

Re: Tarkowski
Yeah Lennon should have scored that
Re: Tarkowski
Lennon's chance was the biggest but there was also those Spijed mentioned along with Hendrick's header after Mee's overhead kick.Giftonsnoidea wrote:Cant remember any clear cut chances apart from corks non goal, you sure?
While the expected goal model has its flaws it can be useful to make comparisons like this. Our expected goals (xG) was 1.4 yesterday, compared with 0.1 at St Mary's last year and we averaged less than one xG per game over the whole of last season.

Also loved Ben Mee's tackle, I think on Armstrong near the halfway line. As good a tackle as you will ever see.tim_noone wrote:Loved Ben mees header towards his own goal....just to see if everyone's on the same page!
