It’s a huge decision. I like the look of that team, BUT it doesn’t include the best player on the pitch tonight, Westwood.

The one thing we must do though is get Hendrick into a flat midfield role.

Agree re Westwood. He can be fit into a midfield 5 which would play Hendrick out of position again. I think we need to have 2 up against the Man U defence which is shaky.

Also, Wood is our best finisher and I reckon we’d still be in Europe had he played tonight from the off.

Good shout. I said McNeil but I think it may be too much for the young lad after tonight with the quick turnaround

I put McNeil in initially but then thought the same.
He was very good tonight, maybe an appearance off the bench Sunday.

Given the fact Jose always plays fellani against us I would play Vokes and Barnes in a two. United couldn't handle Glen Murray on his own in their last away game so let's go for them like Brighton did

Heaton
Lowton Tarks Mee Taylor
Lennon Hendrick Westy McNeil
Barnes Vokes

Same, but more likely Hendrick out wide and Westwood in the middle.

I'd prefer Wood on the pitch but his current form doesn't warrant it.

Vydra Barnes

Important we get a set back 5 for the majority of the season. This Burnley side has been so successful over the past couple of seasons because of the consistency of the team selection.

Hart

Gibson Tarks Mee

Lowton Cork Hendrick Taylor

Vydra

Barnes Wood

In a 3-5-2, won’t happen but we have the players for that system.

Hart / Heaton: We know how Sean Dyche works (rightly so too) - it's Hart's place to lose unless he has a stinker or gets injured and Heaton makes it his shirt to lose. So I expect Hart to be back between the sticks.

Lowton and Tarks on the bench last night along with Ward, makes me think Taylor will have to bide his time, but I think he's getting closer.

Vydra I think is still working up his match fitness to be ready for 90 minutes in the Premier League, and with McNeil tiring in the latter stages, I think he will also be on the bench.

I'm certainly feeling more optimistic and once Brady gets back (will Defour play this year?), we'll have some pretty deep options in the squad.

I don't disagree, but if you can't score at least be a nuisance. Wood showed zilch against Watford, the CH had him in his pocket. He couldn't win a header, hold onto the ball, find a team mate. He's had a poor start to the season compared to last one. I don't know why, but Vokes caused Olympiakos far more problems than Wood would have.

17 players to choose from 18 plus Agyei and Mcneil unless a couple of our keepers can play outfield!!!!!!!

................Heaton
Lowton Tarks Mee Ward
Lennon Westwood Cork Hendrick
............Barnes Wood

Some thoughts/observations:

Barnes needs to re-focus on his excellent football skills
Wood is 'ineffective' as a lone centre forward
4-4-2 is our best formation for home games
We need an experienced starting 11 against united
McNeil (real quality) and Vydra are both looking great additions to the first team squad

Another who suspects it will be 442, with Hendrick left of Cork and Westwood and Barnes and Wood up front.

Which is probably the right team. McNeill did fabulously well last night, but I'd be extremely wary of throwing him in against United. Partly because he'll have expended so much last night (mentally as well as physically) that its a big ask for him, partly because it will be a completely different game. We'll have much less of the ball and need much more defensive diligence, and we saw last night that that probably (rightly and understandably) isn't his strength right now. Much better to have him on the bench as an option if we're looking for a goal late on. Hendrick can easily slot in on the left, and if Barnes is playing there's always the option of Hendrick coming centrally to make a 3 and Barnes dropping in on the left.

Same goes for Vydra for now, so Barnes and Wood get the nod because they're the best combination of the other 3 (oddly, I can imagine Vokes and Vydra dovetailing a little as Vokes and Ings used to - Vydra seems on last night's evidence to be similar in style to Ings, and Vokes is at his best when he's the main front man but has one or more players regularly running beyond him).

It's definitely a game for vokes , as much as we mixed it up last night we will be pumping it up on Sunday that's just how it goes against the top sides , we also need his defensive capabilities, for me vokes and Barnes, not seen enough of vydra people saying he was good have forgotten the easy chance he put in row z

Well it wasn’t really an easy chance was it. Came at him very fast. Heavily watered surface. The way it flew it may well have come off his ankle bone. Whatever the facts might be, I saw enough from Vydra that makes me very confident that he will get plenty of game time and wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up our top scorer.

He needs supply vokes and Barnes win the ball themselves wood is a better finisher, although l do think he is struggling at the minute he seems to be offside quite a bit too .

is the team I'd pick. The team Dyche will pick will be:

Hart
Lowton Tarks Mee Ward
Lennon Westwood Cork Taylor
Hendrick
Wood

Keep Barnes, McNeil, Vydra as impact subs as I don't think any of these could last 90 mins against mu nobody's better at holding up the ball than vokes and there to nod on for wood. Relies on Lennon and Taylor getting the ball across. The three on the bench add something different. Hendrick played brilliantly in position on Thursday wasted in a 4-4-1-1

Heaton
Lowton tarks mee ward
Lennon Cork/Hendrick Taylor
Vokes Barnes
Heaton for me simply because defence has much more confidence, and more organisation, not least because he's far more vocal, this was apparent to me on Thursday, but clearly needs games to get fully fit again.
Ward off and McNeil on after 60 and drop Taylor back,he put a massive shift in on Thursday, as did McNeil but he's young enough and a tremendous prospect. Vydra on for whichever one of vokes /Barnes is more knackered . Although we're out of Europe the good thing is players such as long, Gibson given more time, dare I say bardsley are pushing first choice players imo, especially long, tarkowski is imo guilty of dallying sometimes but that could be partly down to lack of organisation from our tried and tested Tom Heaton, that's not to say he's not a very good defender but long can push him imo. Wood is simply not passionate enough for me and is far too weak for the majority of the time, he needs to man up and find some passion, if not get shut in next window and find someone that is going to give us that, just my opinion mind, on a final note get the injured back we're not too far off with the emergence of mcneil and signing of vydra.

Having reflected on Thursdays good performance from a well balanced team I would only make two changes. Tough on Bardsley and Westwood but Lowton and Cork offer more attacking threat.

Barnes needs to re-focus on playing football and not on the best position/movement to obtain a foul.

...............Heaton
Lowton Tarks Mee Taylor
Lennon Cork Hendrick McNeil
...........Barnes Vokes
