Hart 8 - Superb at times. The penalty save under such pressure was really top drawer. Had a great game overall.
Bardsley - 6 doesnt get forward nearly enough. He is steady, and tough but thats not enough. Did well to draw the red card (hate the fact I am even saying that but we need to get streetwise!!)
Taylor 5 - crossing was poor. PAssing was poor. Still not anywhere near Wards level of previous seasons.
Mee - 3 Dont think ive ever seen him that bad. Was abysmal. Got bullied and should have been sent off.
Tarkowski - 5 better than Mee.
Lennon 5 - Crossing was poor. Wasnt supported enough by Bardsley granted but was poor.
Westwood 5 - awful distribution time and again. And shuld have been hooked ahead of Hendrick.
Cork 6 - Better than Westwood.
McNeil 5 Showed flashes but wasted a very good free kick. In his defence we shouldnt be relying on an 18 year old kid!
Hendrick - 5 Isolated
Wood 6 actually linked up OK but the lack of support and runners was worrying

Dyche - 4 Poor tactics. Even worse subs.

Hart 8 kept it respectable. Unlucky with their 2nd, world class stop, but no one helped him out
Bardsley 7 solid enough I thought
Tarky 6
Mee 4 bullied today big time.
Taylor 6
Lennon 6
Cork 6
Westwood 5 very sloppy
McNeil 6 looked brave and tried to run at them and wasn't affraid to have a pop
Hendrick 6
Wood 5 totally isolated, needs a partner, or someone within 20 yards when trying to control the lump up field.

I know it's Man United, and I never believed they'd lose 3 on the spin, and in truth they never did.
We were very un Burnley like, and didn't look like creating a chance first half, the damage was done, and it was all about keeping it respectable.
We've had some pretty poor displays this season, and it needs to turn around quickly.
3 big games in September, we need a win on the board, and quickly.

Hart 8 Possibly could have done more for first goal, punched one when could have caught, but otherwise he was top drawer
Bardsley 5 Did Ok, but idiotic to get involved with Rashford. On another day could have seen red. Slows the game down too much for me
Taylor 6 Got forward well, but targeting an isolated striker too often. Naive for Lukaku’s first
Mee 4 Bullied. Outpaced. Could have committed 2 professional fouls on another day. Gave up chasing Lukaku for a one-on-one situation. Caught out for their first. No longer the epitome of a Dyche team
Tarks 6 Decent on the ball, up against a very good forward line, didn’t appear out of place though
Cork 6 Decent enough, but not creative enough
Westwood 7 Similar to Cork, but started to play the ball into the strikers and runners well second half
Hendrick 6 Not bad, but not good enough to play that role. His touch lets him down too much
Lennon 6 I actually though he was ok. Lots of important interceptions and tracking back. Troubled Shaw a couple of times. Could have gone down for a penalty. But a bit one dimensional. Stupid penalty challenge
McNeil 6. Got talent. But still very immature. His positional play covering wide runners needs to be looked at. He should have learned that 10 years ago. It will cost us in this league, no matter how good he was going forward
Wood 5. Isolated or not, he just doesn’t do enough. Even when he does get hold of the ball, he gives it away

Vokes 6 Did more than Wood in his limited time again. Always makes us look more likely to score. Missed a good chance, yes, but it came very quickly at him
Barnes 5. Just not at it
Vydra not on long enough. But I like the prospect

Hart 8 MoM perhaps should have come for the cross but stopped us getting absolutely hammered
Bardsley 5
Taylor 6
Tarks 6
Mee 3 awful absolutely bullied against an opponent he has previously done well against
Lennon 5
McNeil 7 a bright outfield spark in an unimaginative turgid display by the team
Cork 5 I can’t think of a positive influence he had on the game, up against tough opposition no doubt but struggling to see the positives today (but not on his own)
Westwood 6 slightly up from cork purely because he tried to move the ball quickly and switch play, but lotsbdidnt come off
Hendrick 7 along with McNeil the bright spark and he shouldn’t have been taken off (just moved into CM)He tried to move the ball quickly and do something different (ie the dummy when he got clattered first half) things didn’t always come off but like McNeil he was positive and composed
Wood 6 to say he had two centre half’s on him and MF sat on his toes when we went long I thought he did ok but with nobody getting close to him and him having to do his work in areas of little danger to the opposition its very hard.

Hart 9 No chance with either goal and stopped Utd scoring 6 or 7. Lukaku should have had 4 or 5 !
Bardsley 4 Shaw was in acres of space.
Tarks 7 Only decent defender
Mee 3 Slow and useless
Taylor 4 Slight improvement in 2nd half
Lennon 4 Wish we had never bought him
Westwood 4 Struggling
Cork 5 Outmuscled
Mc Neil 6 Clearly inexperienced but has the ability to make and find space which is priceless. Great cross on a plate for Vokes. Seemed lost defensively
Hendrick 5 Thought he was our best outfield player in first half then dissapeared
Wood 4 He simply cannot play as a lone striker

Gonna be a long winter and SD looking out of ideas. The boards inability to buy quality player is coming home to roost. On the positive side we are out of Europe and the players and Manager have 2 weeks to get their act together and rest some tired limbs.
TV commentators were using words like leggy and jaded. Our energy and strength is how we win games and at the moment that has gone missing.United outplayed AND outmuscled us today. We truly could have lost 1-6 ( Vokes missed our only clear chance)

We've thrown in a few poor league performances, now and again, these last few years.
Not many last season. A few more the season before.
But, to my mind, we've not been that ineffective since Hull ambled to three points in our Championship winning season.
We are going to lose games. Very disappointing to lose them like that though.

Hart - 8 Only player that performed to an adequate level today.
Some fantastic saves inc the penalty.
Bardsley 4 - Lowton must have a knock, will be lucky to escape a ban.
How many times does he get the ball and then just pump it to no-one in the channel? Or get it in a crossing area and not deliver. Not good enough.
Tarkowski 6 - Not his best day but didn't really do anything wrong.
Mee 4 - Mitrovic last week, Lukaku this week Ben is having trouble competing physically. Time for Gibson?
Kevin Long would've done a better job today.
Taylor 5 - Much better than Ward has been all season. A justified start.
Lennon 4 - Refuses to shoot, no end product again. He's a Speedboat with no driver.
Cork 4 - No control of the game struggled to get involved.
Westwood 5 - Tough ask physically up against Fellaini, Matic and Pogba only player looking to get things moving
McNeil 6- Didn't reach the heights of Thursday but didn't look out of place. Somehow at 18 on his first start, he is our main source of creativity. Not acceptable.
Hendrick 5 - Not his best performance this season but no longer the scapegoat.
Wood 5 - Ref gave him nothing, once again isolated, no chances created for him.

Vokes 5 - Missed another chance struggled to get involved
Barnes 4- Ineffective from the bench again.

Dyche 3 - Missing our identity again. Don't look like scoring in a month of Sundays. And if we aren't keeping clean sheets then what are we? Championship fodder. Changes made too late. Can't use injuries to creative players as an excuse considering they were both out for half of last season.
Not his fault the board didn't invest in cover when they knew they would both miss the first half of the season I suppose. Still, he has two weeks now to get things sorted and back to playing the Dyche way.

Woeful 1st half where I thought our initial set up and team selection played right into our opponents hands

Hart 9 MOM
Bardsley 4 Both goals game from that area of the pitch, wasteful in possession
Mee 3 Bullied
Tarkowski 6
Taylor 5 Defensive positioning poor and wasteful in possession
Lennon 5
Westwood 4 I can't work out what his role is supposed to be
Cork 6
McNeil 6
Hendrick 6 I'm actually starting to feel sorry for him in the role he's being asked to play
Wood 6 I actually am starting to feel sorry for him in the role he's asked to play

Vokes 6

I can accept a loss as long as there is intensity, passion, purpose to our play, hard graft (worryingly absent) but there was none in that 1st half as we sauntered to a 2-0 defecit.

"But this was UTD" is the cry. I accept that to a degree, but this was a UTD team that's struggled to be Leicester, conceded 3 at Brighton and were hammered by Spurs.

Hart 5 1 for penalty save, but poor command of his area, hesitant in coming for the ball and where was he to collect the cross for there 1st goal, Heaton back asap for me.

Bardsley 6 Did ok till he was up against pace
Tarkowski 7 Steady away
Mee 3 Sorry Ben Lukaku ripped you a new one today but we know you are better than this as a norm, lucky to stop on late on for the handball
Taylor 5 Got in some good positions but crosses were crap, catching practice for DeGea

Lennon 3 couldn`t beat a man, couldn`t cross a ball and didn`t pull the trigger AGAIN !! near the end sooner Brady and JBG are fit the better
Cork 6 Tried to make something happen but outnumbered to often in the middle
Westwood 5 Bit like JC
McNeil 6 Tried to create things which was good to see but didn`t get many options first half as nobody showed for the ball, needs to work on his set pieces
Hendrick 3 Please tell me what he brings to the party, only passes backward and sideways, weak in possession, nowhere near enough to Wood to be an option, Arfield was better at this job, at least he scored a few goals

Wood 4 Not a target man, the ball doesn`t stick, he doesn`t win headers needs to play along side a big man. the ref didn`t help as he was fouled quite regularly first half but Moss was weak

Vokes 6 At least we had a presence in the last third and someone to aim at where something might happen
Barnes 5 Within 2 minutes of coming on he provided the best cross of the day but more effective central
Vydra N/A wasn`t really on long enough to make a difference but looks like what we need to play off a big lad when fully fit, makes some good runs.

Dyche 3 for persisting with a pairing ie Woods /Hendrick which has never worked Utd treated the first half like a training session, we were woeful, we gave them nothing to think about until the penalty save and subs then we began to look like something might happen. Dyche needs to give his head a wobble or this could be our last season in the prem, knee jerk NO just the realism of our situation at the moment

Ooof

First half was about as unBurnley like as its possible to be, United never had to get into the car to even start the engine, to even contemplate first gear we were that passive.

Better second, but not by much and the X is coming on, so Y is coming off substitutions are starting to grate. No way Hendrick should be coming off instead of Westwood in a physical battle like that. Bright points were McNeil again and Harts penalty save, but that is about it.

Hart 8 = stopped us getting absolutely hammered
Bardsley 5 - offers nothing going forward, in a team in which our full backs are totally key
Mee 4 - Ok it was Lukaku but thats not how to play against a bigger and stronger forward
Tarkowski 5 - better, but not by much
Taylor 5 - poor crossing
Lennon 6 - alright but we need him to be running at pace at the full back. We managed it once all game and we need to give him a chance to do what he can do
Westwood 4 - can't compete in CM against anyone bigger than him. Today should have been hooked at half time
Cork 5 - nowhere near the standards he set himself last season
McNeil 7 - playing without fear and just enjoying it. its good to see to be honest
Hendrick 6 - fine, completely on his own at times with limited options. Needs to be in the middle as I think we need him there
Wood 5 - zero service, so not surprisingly, a bad game

Subs
Vokes 6
Barnes 6

Our lack of goal threat is worrying, but we created a hatful in the last game and United are a good side. But we do need to players back as we lack options. Never have I looked forward to an international break so much before!

Need a bit of realism on here chaps. Mourinho paid us a great respect by playing the 11 he did. He was at the Turf on Thursday and you could tell. He basically made sure his team was physical from front to back in order to nullify us in the air and it worked. If he wins that battle they win 99 times out of 100 because they're simply better footballers than us.

This doesn't mean we're immune to criticism. Dyche started the wrong striker and put us on the back foot from the first whistle. Wood simply isn't a lone striker in a long ball team. Forget how much he cost Sean and just start Vokes please. Time for Westwood to make way for Hendrick and Barnes in as the number 10 as well. We need more presence, that's basics for a Dyche team.

I've said it before and I'll doubtless say it again, we miss the defensive workrate of players like Boyd and Arfield. Lennon is too much of a luxury player for us and we simply can't carry him and Wood like we did today, especially in the first half.

Hart 7
Bardsley 5
Tarkowski 7
Mee 4

Lennon 4
Westwood 6
Cork 6
McNeil 7 (+1 for the way he handle the occasion. A first start in the PL vs Utd is about as big as it gets!)
Hendrick 6
Wood 4

Hart 8
Bardsley 5 distribution and crossing awful
Mee 4 not good today
Tarkowski 6
Taylor 5
McNeil 7 most confident attacking player on the pitch at 18. Overhits free kicks.
Westwood 5 looks better against weaker opposition and going sideways
Cork 6 too similiar to Westwood to play together
Lennon 5 we need better. Is he supposed to offer any attacking threat or even beat a man ?
Hendrick 6 please play him deeper please
Wood 4 can't play the lone striker but is offering f all at the moment

Dyche 4 poor selection and tactics. Never in the game. Man Utd had it easy. The game should not be over when we go 1 or 2 down. We just don't offer anywhere near enough of a threat on the final third. Really disappointing and poor.

Thought we were pretty awful today especially in the first half. We never looked likely to score.

Hart. 8. Mom. Not at fault for either goal and kept the score respectable.
Bardsley. 6. Doesn't offer what Lowton does going forward.
Mee. 3. I just don't know what to say. His worst PL performance.
Taylor. 5. Okay.
Lennon. 4. A couple of good runs but no real end product. Stupid penalty.
Hendrick. 6. Pretty solid.
Westwood. 5. First half passed him by
Cork.6.Some decent holding of the ball.
Wood. 5. Held the ball well in difficult circumstances.
Vokes. 4.

Didn't understand our game today in the first half. We had five in midfield but constantly played long balls to Wood who was on his own and up against probably the tallest team in the league.

Tough one this. At times we played some decent stuff against a good side but for all that we struggled to create enough actually in front of goal and the defence is somewhat worrying. Hart was excellent mind.

Hart 9 - outstanding second half
Bardsley 6 - ok but not offering enough higher up the pitxh
Tarkowski 5 - shaky
Mee 4 - awful
Taylor 7 - worth another run out
Lennon 6 - some great touches at times and not really suppprted by Bardsley enough
Cork 5 - disapppintingly hesitant - luxky not to be hooked
Westwood 7 - worked very hard
Hendrick 8 - thought he had a very food game until bizarrely pulled for Vokes when we went 442
McNeiil 7 - another decent run out
Wood 8 - excellent hold up play and a couple of half chances
Vokes 5 - made little differencr
Barnes 5 - made no differemce
Vydra - had no time.

Ok its Man U and rhey clearly didnt want to go 3 on rhe bounce with no points. However we are struggling at both ends here and i really dont know what the solution is. Cork looks jaded, Mee has been dreadful and other than Wood our strikers cant get anything on target.

On the plus side Westwood is playing well, McNeil lools a good player and Hendrick is looming every inxh a solid premier league player. Up to Dyche to get a formation/personnel that will drive us forward. Personally i would be thinking Vyrda has to have the key.

Big big games up for our next three

I forgot Tarks. I would say 6. If he closes down rather than commits the second goal might not have happened.

Hart 6 sorry Jo why didn’t you come for the cross for the first ?
Bardsley 5
Mee 3 bullied out of the game
Tarkowski 6
Taylor 6
Lennon 5 whatever he had he ain’t got now
Westwood 5
Cork 6
McNeil 6
Hendrick 6
Wood 6 no service where it matters
Yokes 6
Once again we had a couple of shooting chances, why not ?

Hart 8 mom
Bardsley 6
Tarks 5
Mee 3
Taylor 5
Lennon 4
Westwood 5
Cork 4
McNeil 5
Hendrick 5
Wood 5

That could have been embarrassing, the score line did not reflect the gulf. Men against boys yet again, like it was against Watford. Our midfield is physically weak and lacks little creativity at this level, it's frightening.

Ben Mee got hung out to dry, Lukaku made him look non league

Hart 6 Some good saves in 2nd half but looked poor for first.
Bardsley 4 struggled and his distribution was woeful
Tarkowski 6 stood up quite well.
Mee 3 Lukaku embarrassed him
Taylor 4 like Bardsley
Lennon 4 struggled to impact anything again
Westwood 5 outplayed throughout
Cork 5 same
McNeil 6 tough one for him but he clearly doesn’t lack confidence
Hendrick 6 i thought he did ok, surprised he went off
Wood 3 hard work on his own but has to keep the ball better when he does get it

Vokes 5 no effect.

Tough game against a United side who played well.
The obvious worry is the sloppy goals we are conceding. I think it was quoon who started a thread last week about the importance of getting a settled defensive. Needs to workout who his best back five are and quick.
The other problem is up front. We don’t look like scoring at the moment and have 3 out of 4 strikers bang out of form.

A ban for what?
He probably should have had a red for the Rashford incident, but the ref judged it a yellow, so that's an end to the matter, unless the rules have changed.

Hart 7 - not sure about his positioning for first, but other than that did well
Bardsley 6 - he's not much going forward but a decent old style RB
Tarkowski 7 - did ok I thought
Mee 4 - bullied
Taylor 5 - struggled
Lennon 5 - barely got a cross off
Westwood 4 - anonymous
Cork 5 - lightly better than Westwood
McNeil 6 - has no fear with being young, and looks a good prospect. Could sometimes make better decisions but that he'll learn
Hendrick 6 - looked sharper but got little help
Wood 5 - hoofing it to him when he's being manhandled by 2 CBs and having no support - may as well not even have him on. His confidence must be dropping with each game he gets wasted in this formation

Vokes 6 - looked stronger when he came on

Hart 7 did ok, and a great save from the pen
Bardsley 7 looked good last couple of games
Tarks 8 some excellent defending.
Mee 5 won some great headers, brave as a lion, but Lukaku showed up his weaknesses strength and pace. People should just give Lukaku more credit rather than kicking Ben
Taylor 7 needs more game time and is improving every game. Deserves to keep his place.
Lennon 6 gives 110% as usual, but again got in a position in the box and chose to pass when the shot was on.
Westwood 6 some good, some poor.
Cork 6 similar to Westwood.
McNeil 8 he isn't the finished article but along with Hendrick looked our best hope of creating something. He has to stay in the team, he will only improve with the experience.
Hendrick 8 mom not quite as good as Thursday but still pur best player. SD should have hooked Westwood and moved Hendrick back into the middle. Twice in a week he's subbed our best player.
Wood 5 better than Thursday but we don't play to his strengths. He needs crosses from the wing or balls in the channels to chase. Playing a ball to his feet with a CH on his back is not his game.

Vokes 6 missed another header but the rest of his game wad good.
Barnes 6
Vydra not on long enough.

If I'd picked the starting XI, it would have had 4 changes. The squad is stronger than ever, injuries aside, but we need to pick a regular line up. Too many changes is hurting us. I know that is partly due to the EL but that is no longer an excuse after the International break.
McNeill needs to keep his place.
Hendrick needs to play in the Defour slot.
Love Ben Mee but his lack of pace is an issue that every other manager in the Prem will mow target. How fast is Gibson?
We need to play 2 up top. Either Wood and Vydra or Vokes and Barnes, but we don't create enough for a lone striker.

Hart 7.Kept score respectable
Bardsley 6 ok.up against 2 men with zero help
Taylor 5 couldn't cross the road
Mee 3 woeful
Tarks 6 better than his sidekick
Lennon 3 awful
Cork 5 poor
Westwood 5 as above
Hendrick 4 best player on Thursday so lets move him back to the position he struggles with
McNeil 6 thought he did ok.one for FUTURE.
Wood 3 couldn't hold a empty bagof crisps up.
Subs all 4/5.not a lot you can do when managers still playing for a 0-0 despite being 2 down and a man up
Dyche 1 for turning up.would rather lose 5 or 6 and have a good than watch that garbage.
Garlick sit at home and count the money clown
