Hart 8 Did nothing wrong
Lowton 7
Tarks 8
Mee 7
Taylor 4. Really not good enough. Basically does not understand his position and how to defend. As usual the same people will come out in support of him and I will hold my hand up when he has a good game. Unfortunately he is nowhere near good enough for the prem. Good players will destroy him over the next few weeks. In fact it happened today when they should have had a pen and should have scored when he was last man and did not go to the ball (unforgivable for a prem defender)

Hart 7 Crucial save but his lack of command of the box is a concern for me

Lowton 7 More like his old self.
Tarkowski 7 Better but some silly moments
Mee 7 More like his old self
Taylor 6 Better but a heads gone failure to close down Brooks and lucky not to concede a pen later. Crosses in to box v poor in first half but deserves credit for bouncing back from last week
Gudmundsson 7 More comfortable on the right and another one back to his old self
Cork 7 Hopefully battling himself back in to form
Westwood 8 MOM I thought he seemed determined to have an influence on the game and get us moving forward with more purpose.
Lennon 8 I have been hoping he wouldnt get picked tbh but the goal boosted his confidence and his pace was crucial in closing the game out and some useful defending as well.

Vydra 7 Great to see him start. Seems like a clever footballer.

Vokes 7 I thought it was a good call to play him with Vydra and he battled manfully but could do with a goal

sub: Barnes 8 Two strikers goals and so pleased for him and his confidence.
Wood 6

Massive sigh of relief here in Devon. Not perfect but fair play to the team for not shrinking away from the challenge of digging us out of this poor run. We tried to get on the front foot early and ultimately they got the breaks they deserved. Much needed run of the ball today and sets us up nicely for the Cardiff/Huddersfield fixtures.

Taylor wasn't that bad IMO. Couple of mistakes, but also a couple of decent blocks and a good clearance header. Couple of times he was left exposed by Lennon, but overall not terrible at all.

Hart - 8 - Will have done himself no harm with Southgate present. Currently deserves the Keeper shirt.
Lowton -7 Did well overall. Thought he might have been heading for trouble first half when his frustration over the diving seemed to get to him, but pulled it together and had a decent game.
Takrowski - 8 - Very solid. Couple of nice challenges first half. Thought he might be a little exposed with the speed of the Bournemouth front men, but handled them well.
Mee - 7 - Couple of wayward passes, but stood strong defensively. Solid today.
Taylor - 6 - As above. Was torn between a 6 or a 7 here.
Lennon - 9 - Despite his lack of tracking back at times, his creativity and running at players was incredible today. That touch of class.
Cork - 6 - Didn't do a great deal today. Seemed to be getting frustrated second half.
Westwood - 7 - Worked hard and did okay.
JBG -8 - Did his job well all game. Worked very hard both going forwards and tracking back.
Vokes -8 - Was dragging defenders all over the place. Did really well holding the ball up and winning those headers and flick ons. Quitely understated in this match for me.
Vydra -8 - His movement is great, he wasd absolutely all over the place, niggling and fiughting for the ball. His positioning was also good for the goal. Did his job well today, promising full debut.
Wood - 6 - Missed a good chance with the header, but held the ball well and a couple of nice lay-offs. Just lacks a little bit of sharpness for me.
Barnes -8 - What can I say, came on, scored two. I love his levels of effort. really puts himself about.

Hart - 8 1 top notch save at 2-0, could have been very different, without that. Top keepers, make big saves at big moments.

Lowton - 7 looked a bit aggresive today, thought he may have got a red
Mee - 8 back to his no nonsense self
Tarkowski - 7 a bit sloppy in possession
Taylor - 7

JBG - 8
Cork - 7
Westwood - 8 excellent, all over the place breaking things up
Lennon - 9 perfect game from a player of Lennon's type of wing play. Did the dirty stuff too.

Vokes - 7
Vydra - 7 a few bright moments, but a few stray balls/dumnys, but a few more weeks of regular starts and he'll be on the players wavelength. Looks to have the potential to be involved in a lot of goals.

Barnes 8 so good at seeing games out, and 2 real strikers goals, reacting first and following, then a perfect number 10 goal hanging for the pull back and classy finish.

Hart 7 - couple of good saves.
Lowton 7 - hopefully the end of the debate. Added a different dimension at right back
Tarkowski 8 - oozes class
Mee 7 - often sloppy with the ball, but part of a back 4 unit that defended impeccably throughout.
Taylor 7 - Definitely some naivety but plenty who clearly want him to fail, which is incredibly sad.
Lennon 9* - outstanding. Goal will do his confidence wonders.
Cork 7 - steady away
Westwood 7 - average first half, excellent second.
Gudmundsson 8 - tired a bit in the second but fantastic in the first half.
Vydra 7 - good. Added some extra pace to link the midfield and attack.
Vokes 8 - our best striker. Ake and Cook won nothing from him, despite Vokes being fouled all game.

Hart 8 Important save at 1-0
Lowton 7
Tarkowski 7
Mee 7
Taylor 7 Thought he had a decent game. Surprised at some of the comments but I suppose we have to find someone to moan about when Hendrick isn’t in the side.
Gudmundsson 8 back to last season’s JBG
Cork 7
Westwood 8
Lennon 9 best game as a claret
Vydra 8
Vokes 7

Fantastic team performance. We were quick out of the blocks which we have seen before but it usually eases off but today that didn’t happen until we had the lead.

Hart 8 He gets an unfair score from me as I can’t help but be impressed when he shows some passion. There is no greater sight than seeing a player of his calibre passionate about our little club
Lowton 7 Great to have him back into our team. A little silly to give the early fouls away, it could of been a long afternoon for him as I believe he was 1 more foul away from being sent off against a tricky winger
Tarkowski 7 looked much more comfortable but still not at his best.
Mee 7 similar to tarks, a massive improvement but still not at his best.
Taylor 6 frustrates with his reluctance to attack at times. I feel like his confidence only allows him to be as good as the player in front of him. Hopefully the return of Brady will mean an ongoing improvement from our first choice left back
Gudmundsson 9 MOM Seemed to be determined to be involved in every attack. Really impressed with him today
Cork 6 looked a little bit off the pace. Could be due a rest
Westwood 9 Close for the MOM. Broke everything up today
Lennon 8 much improved, was all over the pitch. Lacks the final product at times but that’s why he is playing for a club like Burnley
Vydra 7 great movement and a desire to get on the ball and attack
Vokes 6 Did the donkey work well. He has missed a lot of chances over the last few games that he would normally score. Due a bit of luck

Vydra 7 Very promising

It's amazing what getting the first goal does to both the shape of the game and the confidence of a team that haven't quite had momentum this season. Much more like it.

Hart - 7 - Made one excellent save at 2-0, and was generally solid enough, although I thought he could have come and claimed a couple of crosses and his kicking wasn't always the surest.

Lowton - 7 - Showed what we've been missing with his first touch, 10 seconds in, a lovely weighted clip up the line, and his composure in possession was a big part of us showing a bit more calmness in possession at times today, even if his defensive timing seemed a touch out at times.

Taylor - 6 - They got in behind him a bit easily a few times (he looks to me to be vulnerable to blind side runners)
and his crossing was a bit disappointing, but stuck to his task doggedly enough.

Tarkowski - 8 - Back to something close to his best. A couple of dodgy moments, but that apart he was pretty imperious.

Mee - 7 - Gave the ball away a couple of times but otherwise very good, and it will have done him and Tarks a world of difference to come through a second half of getting back to the basics of what we're good at without really giving a clear sight of goal away apart from one occasion (when I'm pretty sure the ref missed a clear push on Tarks).

Cork - 7 - Got more of an opportunity to play today, and used the ball well as a result. Solid defensively for the most part.

Westwood - 7 - A bit surprised he started ahead of Hendrick, but we were glad of his composure in possession and simple passing. Again, solid defensively for the most part against a team who are well suited to exploiting gaps between the lines.

Gudmundsson - 8* - Another to have his best game of the season. Provided a lovely ball for the second goal and a neat cushioned volley for the third, but apart from that he was diligent defensively, and a real threat throughout.

Lennon - 8 - He's never going to be as tidy in possession as we'd like him to be, but what a joy to see him playing with a bit of confidence, and with space to run into on the counter attack. Brave and determined for his goal, and then two classy assists later on as he exploited the gaps that Bournemouth had to leave. But apart from all that, he covered huge ground, again, defensively, and got two or three really key blocks in. Hopefully he can kick on from here.

Vydra - 7 - A bit raw, and not everything came off, but he took his goal well and pulled Bournemouth's defenders around with his intelligent movement and direct running.

Vokes - 7 - A goal away from a consumate centre forward's performance. Promising signs of a natural partnership with Vydra, and showed once again that with runners getting beyond him, he's an ideal focal point for our attack with deft lay-offs and a physical presence to take the pressure off others. A couple of half chances didn't quite break for them, but they will, and he's showing he's still got loads to offer us.

Wood - 6 - couldn't take the one good chance that came his way, and his link up play was nowhere near as effective as either Vydra or Vokes, but didn't do too much wrong.

Barnes - 7 - Didn't do much at all apart from score 2 goals, but you can't really argue with that and he finished both well, which is another huge positive of today.

Quite frankly, there wasn't much difference between the first half of this game, and the first half the Watford game a month ago - except that in the end, we got the bounce of the ball from a first half we'd generally shaded and were therefore able to get our noses in front, whereupon a weight was visibly lifted from the players. Once we'd got the second quickly, in truth this game was pretty comfortable, even if this wasn't really a 4-0 game - we defended fairly deeply, but generally well, and one chance apart (when I think the ref made a mistake) we were pretty comfortable and Bournemouth generally looked threatening when they got behind the midfield, or down the sides of the centre halves, rather than in truly threatening positions. And then we had the quality when we got the chance to counter effectively and kill the game.

We've not been as bad recently as the doom and gloom would have led you to believe, and today wasn't as comprehensive as the 4-0 scoreline suggests. But its great to lay a platform, get a bit of feel good factor back, and set ourselves up well for the games against Cardiff and Huddersfield in the next fortnight. Onwards and upwards.

Hart 8- couple of really good saves. Two dodgy moments one when should have collected cross and one where mix up with mee.
Lowton 7- wasted couple of crosses but good overall
Taylor 6- scary at times but good spell in first 15 mins of second half
Tarkowski 7- long passes not his forte so should put them in locker, did well defensively.
Mee 6- better than of recent.
Westwood 8- combatitive and surprisingly good with ball.
Cork 7- kept the shape and composure.
Lennon 8- goal provided confidence and didn't look back. More of the same please.
Gudmondson 7- kept the threat from wide areas.
Vokes 6- lead the line well but should have done better with couple of chances.
Vydra 7- looked a threat and will only get better with game time
Barnes 8- took both goals well.
Wood 6- not in game much.

Yep. As Dyche said - we weren't quite as far away as the hype suggested last week, and you're never as close to cracking it when you win 4-0 as you probably assume.

Much more like we normally are, with added clinical finishing. Everyone did their jobs and we got our reward. Special mention for Lennon and JBG who were excellent and its such a difference when Lowton plays.

Full credit to the players and the manager. That was a performance to ram down the throats of those on here who will be mysteriously unable to log in till our next defeat.

Hart 7 - one good save but he's got to command his area better to be honest but he's some keeper.
Lowton 7 - gives us so many more options
Mee 7 - passing a bit wonky at times but defended like the Mee we know
Tarkowski 8 - used the ball well, moved forward with it, defended well
Taylor 7 - never a "4" i'm afraid Hibs! Thought he did really well in defence with the odd lapse. Cracking saving header as well in the 2nd half
JBG 9 - brilliant first half
Westwood 7 - much more physical to be fair, and he did very well
Cork 7 - solid
Lennon 9* - good goal and his work rate was first class. the two assists and a goal were so deserved for this performance
Vydra 7 - good debut, and he started the ball rolling
Vokes 7 - he does this role so well, and you don't miss his lack of goal sharpness too much when everyone else chips in

Subs
Wood 6
Barnes 7 - two goals!

Ok, its Bournemouth who got a bit carried away trying to get back into the game but its so nice to see us be so clinicial. Lots to be positive about and its shows we do have a good side.

Onwards and upwards!

Great result, much improved performance, but a long way from the finished article still.
By far the biggest positives were Lennon, JBG and Vydra.

Some good individual performances today, we aren't quite upto speed yet but battered an inform team.
Hart made a couple of good saves, especially the one in the second half.
Lennon had his best game for us, second half especially.

Westwood 8 MOM I thought he seemed determined to have an influence on the game and get us moving forward with more purpose.u
Lennon 8 I have been hoping he wouldnt get picked tbh but the goal boosted his confidence and his pace was crucial in closing the game out and some useful defending as well.

Vydra 7 Great to see him start. Seems like a clever footballer.

Thought Westwood was outstanding today

Vokes 7 I thought it was a good call to play him with Vydra and he battled manfully but could do with a goal

sub: Barnes 8 Two strikers goals and so pleased for him and his confidence.
Wood 6

Massive sigh of relief here in Devon. Not perfect but fair play to the team for not shrinking away from the challenge of digging us out of this poor run. We tried to get on the front foot early and ultimately they got the breaks they deserved. Much needed run of the ball today and sets us up nicely for the Cardiff/Huddersfield fixtures.

All in all, a good day at the Office.

After a bright start, we rode our luck until we scored, then again. Gudmundsson ripped their fullback apart, so much so that he was hoiked on 45 minutes. Best game that Aaron Lennon has played in a Claret shirt. Very promising! :D

Everything we did came from Westwood getting the ball to the wingers. I thought he was tremendous today. Yes he got caught a bit high up the pitch once it twice but his intent to drive is forward was Defour esque. It's amazing what happens when you commit men forward!!

What a difference a week makes. That was a very, very good performance, and the perfect response to last week's showing at Wolves. The season starts now.
