Genuine disbelief that we have won. Dear me there's so little confidence.

Hart 8 Outstanding

Hart 9* - some terrific saves to keep us in the game

Lowton 5
Tarkowski 7 / Long 6
Mee 5
Taylor 5

JBG 7 (+2 for goal and assist)
Westwood 5
Cork 5
Lennon 5

Vydra 6
Vokes 6 (+1 for goal)

Got the job done but shouldn’t ignore the fact that this was another poor performance against probably the worst side in the league by some distance.

Hart 8 Great saves.
Lowton 6 Was isolated time and time again by JGB not covering.
Mee 5 Won nothing in the Air and looks a shadow of the player he was.
Tarkowski 5 Poor passing
Taylor 6 Much work to do but was supported better by the guy in front of him.
Cork 5 slow and sluggish however it hard in a midfield which is bypassed
Westwood 6 Great ball for goal.
Lennon 6 Extra one for his salmon leap of defending
JBG 7 STrange one two big of quality but let Lowton down time and time again. Watch the goal when the ball is turned over Lowton had 2 men.
Vokes 7 did ok, and took his goal well
Vydra 6 Ran hard and his running won us the throw in for the first.

Long 7 (Did well and would start him over Mee even in the left-hand side slot.)
Wood 6 nothing good or bad chased a few.

3 very handy points. UTC

Hart 7 great save first half. Looked solid throughout
Lowton 5
Tarky 6
Mee 5 had his handful, wasn't his game today.
Taylor 6
JbG 7 an assist and goal so can't vomplain
Westwood 5 neither of the middle pair did much of note, although he gets an assist for the up and under
Cork 5 not his best game, very basic
Lennon 5
Vydra 5
Vokes 6 1 for the goal, but won nothing from.the goods up

Long 6 did well to say he came on.

A really poor spectacle, and we didn't really deserve it, but it'll do.
We cannot play like that again and expect any points.
Park it and move on.

A win v Huddersfield and we are well on track.

No cohesion. Awful ball retention, at times. Often, when we managed to complete a passing phase, there were too many poor decisions.
We got away with one there against a team that were as bad as us, for different reasons.
We pushed out the boundaries to winning ugly.

A most welcome three points though! :)

Wood 5 - although maybe not enough minutes to count.

Reason for Taylor score - doesn't do enough to disrupt attacking players. Rarely gets close enough to stop crosses coming in, was too far off his man for the first goal, just allowing them to play around him, and struggles to win headers at the back post due to positional problems. Not a lot going forwards today either, which is his stronger suit.

No adventure, flair, excitement or entertainment on offer in the game. Two dreary, depressing sides who insulted the concept of football today.

Lawton and taylor were poor, but Mee, Westwood and Cork were shocking.

I'd rather see Hendrick and Defour on the pitch, it won't cost us defensively because W&C are doing nothing anyway.
We also need Gibson fit and playing, because I've given up on Ben Mee ever being a footballer, it wouldn't be so bad if he could just get rid, but when he tries to play a pass I fear for us.

From the tv

Strange one really, by no stretch of the imagination were we any better than poor, but when we actually got the ball down and did more than one pass, we scored very easily indeed. Thought it was two great crosses and two excellent headers.

A win is a win in this league, and it should give us the confidence to get back to what we are good at but our ball retention was poor, and I don't think we won a midfield challenge all day. But Cardiff only had one way of playing, and its not how you survive in the premier league. These are the games you have to win, and we did.

Hart 8* - he wasn't as busy as the Skysports team seem to think but still excellent
Lowton 6 - ok
Mee 5 - getting out muscled and out jumped far easily at the moment
Tarks 6 - not really on long enough
Taylor 5 - needs to do better with their goal, but its not his fault Westwood has let his man run off him
Lennon 6 - worked his socks off but never got going with the ball
Westwood 7 - mistake for the goal, but its his pass and his cross that led to us scoring
Cork 6 - busy, but we really need an absolute unit in these sort of games and we haven't got one.
JBG 7 - scored one, created one, looked our best outlet all day
Vydra 6 - we need to utilise his pace more, but he worked his socks off
Vokes 7 - can hold it up better, but that is a very good header for the goal

Subs
Long 7 - solid
Wood 6 - not really on long enough

We have the quality to be better than this, and we can use the ball so much better. But a win is a win.

Lowton set the tone for the team performance by making zero effort to close down the first Cardiff cross in the first minute. Delighted to take the points but that wasn't good enough from a number of players

Thank goodness they are abysmal (still better than us today though)
Hart 8 mom
Lowton 5
Taylor 4
Mee 4 bullied
Tarks 6 won a couple of headers atleast
Lennon 5
JBG 6 at fault for their goal but scored and assisted to boost the rating
Cork 4
Westwood 5 played a part in their goal generally awful in possession but an assist and quality pass for the second boost his rating
Vydra 5 not much to work with
Vokes 5 scored a lovely goal and helped defend our box however dominated in the air attacking wise by Cardiff centre backs
Long 5

Not sure I can ever remember us losing that many headers in attack and defence before.

I'm sorry to say he's been crap all season.
Brave as a lion defensively, and used to win more than his fair share of headers, but this season he's getting bullied by most teams and won a lot less. the biggest issue though is his complete lack of control with the ball. I'm not one who thinks centre halves need to be good with the ball at their feet, but knowing their limitations they should be able to find row Z. He just gives it away, in the most dangerous areas at at the most inopportune times.
As for a captain he's a joke. I just wrote on another thread that we need a leader on the pitch, a Joey Barton character that organise people and shout at people. We play like headless chickens, that's great leadership.

You would have thought we had been beaten by those marks. Cardiff are going down and we won't be far behind them serving this dross, not good enough. Where is the quality?
We don't look as solid as the last 2 seasons has a defensive unit and have added little quality through our woeful transfer activity

Agree..Mee is showing little leadership qualities at the moment and he is way off his best. Tarks looks so dominint he makes Mee look embarrassing. I really fear for us if Tarks has a spell on the side lines

We were pretty awful today.
Got outplayed in virtually every area of the pitch by one of the worst sides ever to play in Premier League.
Our passing accuracy today was the lowest of any team in the league this year....and if we continue up play like this we will get hammered by any half decent team.

But we won and 3 underserved points counts the same as 3 deserved ones I guess.

Hart : 8 MoM. Cleared his lines very well today aswell as making big saves.
Taylor : 3. Sorry but he just does not look good enough in this years form.
Mee : 5. Got outmuscled constantly
Tarks : 5. But we need him back soon as he has been by some distance our best defender this year.
Lowton : 5. Given a difficult game by Murphy and should have been booked earlier than he was. But he did make a lot of important tackles and headers.
Cork : 5. One of the players who gave the ball away too often.
Westwood : 5. See cork
Lennon : 6. I think he worked very hard today and put in a lot of decent tackles and tracking back which was needed with our full backs.
JBG : 7. Made one and scored one which was obviously great but other than that he was another one who just gave the ball away.
(our midfield made Harry Arter look good and he really isn’t !!)

Vokes : 6. Did not really win much in air but good goal and he did work hard.
Vydra : 5. Not a game for him to start. Should have really been Barnes as we knew how Warnocks side was going to play.

Long : 6. Did well I thought
Wood : n/a as not on too long but whilst he was on he got beat in almost every challenge like he has done all season. Not sure what Barnes has done to go so far down the pecking order.

Gonna be a long long season if we carry on playing like this.
Glad we did not bring Defour on as someone like Arter could have easily injured him. Hopefully our quality will improve as we bring him back into the team - it has to

Don't really understand all the poor scores for our defenders who were dealing with endless attacks because the rest of the team couldn't hold on to the ball.

Hart.8. A rock. Mom. Even coming to claim the ball more often.
Lowton. 6. Under siege for much of the game but put in a decent shift
Mee.6. Poor distribution but soaked up a lot of pressure.
Tarks. 6. Looked classy
Taylor. 6. We all know his positioning needs to improve
JBG. 7. A real attacking threat but not often enough, not helped by poor service
Cork.5. Invisible in the first half
Woodward. 5. See Cork
Lennon. 6. Decent defensive performance
Vokes. 6. Didn't hold up a single ball but good defensive play and nice goal
Vydra. 5. In fairness poor service to him
Wood. 4. Not much

Hart 9 clearly MOM
Lowton 5
Tarks 5
Mee 7 poor distribution but battled well
Taylor 4
JBG 7
Westwood 4
Cork 5
Lennon 4 didn't live up to last week's high
Vydra 5
Vokes 6 point added for goal. Centre halves bossed him.

Hart 8
Lowton 5 Poor today
Taylor 5. Includes a bonus point for the throw in. Not good enough. All very well blaming Westwood for not tracking the runner. There is no gap if our left back is a genuine defender
Mee 6
Tarkowski 6

Cork 6
Westwood 6
Gudy 8*
Lennon 7

Vokes 7
Vydra 6

Long 6

Good result. Below par performance. Sorry but Taylor’s lack of ability affects the whole team. It’s like playing with ten men. 3 games in a row where he is the worst player in our team. How many times has Ward been that?

Got out of jail today.

Magnificent display. Ran Cardiff ragged with our quickfire passing game and we really could have had 8 or 9

Hart 6 Barely touched the ball
Lowton 9 Pace and precision
Long 9 Simply a rock
Mee 9 Never wasted a pass
Taylor 9 Never put a foot wrong
JBG 9 A goal and an assist . Total quality
Westwood. 9 Bossed the midfield
Cork 9 As Westwood
Lennon 9. What a signing. Never seen a winger skin the defense so often
Vydra 9 So much energy I thought there were three of him
Vokes 9 Won just about every header. Great goal. What a shift.

Cant wait to destroy The Terriers next week then press on into a Champions League spot. UTC

Wait ..............where am I ?............Did I fall asleep ?..........

I would suggest the low scores are due to the number of times the defence won the ball but could barely move the ball 10 yards up the pitch. If no one's is showing, which they rarely were, at least get rid of the ball from the danger area. We made a very poor team look a lot better than they are, and a lot better than us.

From TV

Hart - 7 - Made good saves which you would expect; I think he had the one that hit the post covered too.

Lowton - 4 - Josh Murphy was easily the most creative player on the pitch (my MoM) and Lowton couldn’t seem to do much about it. At fault for the goal too.

Taylor - 5 - defending just about OK; very little going forward.

Tarkowski - 5 - did not look that impressive before his injury.

Long - 6 - very solid with OK passing. Clearly fouled for the disallowed goal and fouled again for the one Vydra headed off the line.

Mee - 4 - like others ask, what has happened to him. He seems all at sea, he gets bullied too easily and his passing is poor.

Lennon - 4 - no service to him so not a lot to offer in attack; defended OK but deducted a point for his part in their goal - not going with his man who then crossed.

JBG - 7 - MoM - the only Burnley player who looked like a footballer. He looked interested in going forward, unlike most, and defended Okish. Gets an extra point and MoM for goal and assist.

Cork - 3 - another who we must ask ‘what has happened to him‘. Seems to have no energy, gets easily pushed off the ball and doesn’t do much with it when he gets it.

Westwood - 4 - I know he’s limited but he’s better then this. Gets an extra point for his part in the first goal.

Vydra - 4 - hard for him as very little service from anyone including Vokes. Had our one first half shot, if it can be called that. Rightly hooked.

Vokes - 4 - tried hard enough but little service and when aerial balls were in his vicinity he hardly won anything. Gets an extra point for the goal which is immediately taken away again for two pathetic attempts to get a penalty. I thought Dyche did not put up with this sort of stuff.

I watched this out of duty but if this had not been Burnley I would have turned it off. It was awful. The worst part is that we were bettered by Cardiff who must be the weakest side in the division. If they can’t beat us on this performance what chance do they have.

Of course I’ve seen this before with Burnley but it never seemed as bad. I think that’s partly because there was the ’framework’ behind it which was clear to see. Today though there didn’t seem to be a framework. It was just Cardiff’s limitations. Too many players look like they are going through the motions without actually knowing what they’re doing. A player has the ball and he has very little options. These options usually arise because of the movement of their colleagues. There isn’t any movement. We get a throw in half way into the Cardiff half and instead of seeing this as an attacking opportunity (this was at 0-0) it ends up with Hart who hoofs it forward for a blue shirt to win it. Is this part ’the framework’?

I couldn’t even get excited with any of the goals, or that we won, so ground down was I by what I have just seen.

Awful Performance. God knows how we won. 3 attempts, two on target and two goals. One very lucky goal as well, what was their keeper doing? We didn't even defend well. We seemed to be trying to let them score at times. We made the worst team in the league look like a top prem team who had off day with their finishing. If we carry on like this we will be in real trouble. Hopefully we have ridden out the worst of it now. Happy to have got three points but never seen us play so badly and get anything in this division. Saved by Cardiff's incompetence.

Good all round performance like many last year. Cardiff had much more possession but we defended well. Two well taken goals. Great display by JBG. Cardiff crowd very loud till our second goal.

Hart 7 Pretty much the only Burnley player to play well.
This defence is unrecognisable from what we know and I simply cannot understand what has gone wrong. If it doesnt get sorted we are stuffed.
Lowton 5
Tarkowski 5
Mee 5
Taylor 5

Lennon 6 One great defensive header then a stupid foul that could have cost us!! Disappointing overall though after a confidence boosting game last week.
Westwood 5 Tough day at the office.
Cork 5 As above and has not been the same player this season
JBG 7 Manfully kept at it and best of a very poor midfield but not at his best this season. Crucial Contributions for our two efforts on target though and for that reason my MOM.
Vydra 6 Forward players are going to struggle when we are playing so poorly and he struggled.
Vokes 7 Unusually rarely won a header but his job is to score imporantant goals from very few chances and thats what he did! Nice one Sam

Long 6 Now our best defender. That says it all. Tough to come on when we were playing so poorly and fair play apart from Tarkeysque long range passing, did OK?
Wood 5 Not on long enough really but doesnt look at all right but as I said above when we are so poor forwards are going to struggle!

Hart 8 mom
Lowton 5
Long 6
Mee 5
Taylor 4 not convinced he's up to it
Lennon 5
Westwood 5
Cork 5
JBG 7 inc 2 for assist and goal
Vydra 5
Vokes 5 inc 1 for goal

Truly awful spectacle
