Hart - 9 cant ask for more
Lowton 6 - -1 for their goal
Mee - 6 meh
Tarks - 7 unspectacular, but ok
Taylor - 6 meh
JBG - 6 tried, but nowt happened
Cork- 6 worked, saw a lot of the ball, but struggled against a better team
Defour - 6 quiet
Brady - 6 solid return
Hendrick - 6 worked hard, chased a lot, unspectacular
Vokes - 6 worked hard, won some good headers, but isolated a lot.

A pretty ordinary performance against a ruthless Chelsea side, (who totally spoilt it by cheating)

Hart 8 - showed his class today, kept the score respectable. Could only be faulted for the 2nd goal where he should of done better.
Lowton 6 - didn’t stand out either positively or negatively today. Did the basic well but offered little more.
Tarkowski 4 - too much was coming through the heart of defence. All the things we have previously done so well in defence were missing today. Terrible from an experienced back two.
Mee 4 - As tarks
Taylor 7 - looked so much more comfortable today, the only thing that had changed was the player in front of him which a few people had peviously highlighted as a potential issue. He has some pace and his positioning looked intelligent at times. Much improved performance but still a long way to go before I’m convinced that we don’t need to dip into the transfer market for a new left back
JBG 7 - looked confident particularly in the first half
Defour 7 - Always showing for the ball, looks calm with the ball at his feet
Cork 5 - off the pace and fizzled our of the game as it went on. I’d be very interested to see his chance again just before half time. Shooting seemed the natural thing to do, dragging the ball back seemed a bizarre decision and almost unnatural.
Brady 6 - looked exactly what he is, one of our better players who needs minutes on the pitch. Glad to have him back.
Hendrick 4 - never in the game and offered the team nothing. Lost the ball trying to be clever which led to their first goal
Vokes 7 - Does everything so well, seems aware of his weaknesses and has developed his game around them. The only thing missing is goals which as a forward is an issue. Seems to miss a lot of chances this season.

Wood 4 - offered very little
Barnes 5 - full of energy but the game had gone by the time he was introduced

The only time he wasn't invisible he might as well have scored their first goal. It was crucial because we'd done well up to that point particularly for first 10-15 mins. Perplexed at Dyche's decision to bring Wood on for Vokes and not Vydra for Hendrick.

Hart 8
Lowton 5 - poor crossing when we were on top and gave Willian the freedom of the park
Tarkowski 5
Mee 5
Taylor 5 - got a pace about him but so painfully one footed. Also played too narrow at times.
JBG 6 - not sure how he got MoM
Defour 7 - very positive going forwards, still a bit to do when we're defending but we are a much better team with him in it.
Cork 4 - off the pace today
Brady 6 - welcome back.
Hendrick 3 - HE CAN NOT PLAY IN THIS POSITION. HELLO? WE BOUGHT SOMEONE WHO CAN.
Vokes 5 - OK, but nobody around to collect anything he won.

Wood 4 - meh
Barnes 5

Chelsea were excellent on the day but that will be one of the easiest games they play all season. We didn't lay a glove on them and they could easily have scored 3 or 4 more on another day.

Quite frankly a pathetic effort from us today.

Hart 10 Could not have done more.
Lowton 3 Clueless defensively. He just backs off into the area and leaves it to JBG
Tarks 5
Mee 5
Taylor 4 Marginally better than Lowton. Not PL standard
JBG 5 started brightly
Cork 4 off the pace again today
Defour 6 started ok then faded. Prob not fully fit yet
Brady 5 clearly playing himself back to fitness. Good to see him back
Hendrick 3 How many times is SD gonna play him out of position. HE IS NOT A F*****G number 10
Vokes 5 On his own v 2 CB`s

Wood 3 no effort again
Barnes 5 inc 1 point for roughing the keeper ( fairly)

Dont know what is wrong but whatever it is it is SERIOUS

Hart 8 - Some top drawer saves, tried to gee up the players during the Cork injury and not much he Could do about the goals. MoM .
Lowton - 4 - Struggled to get to grips with Willian, not a good game for him.
Tarks - 5 - Fairly poor by his standards, just didn't seem to have the urgency we normally see from him.
Mee 5 - Distribution lacking again. Another one who just didn't seem up for it.
Taylor 6 - Didn't actually do too bad today, maybe that's because he had more support down the left side of the pitch.
JBG 6 - Kept trying, but nothing seemed to be coming off for him today. Had a cracking effort at goal near the end, but it was more out of desperation.
Defour 6 - Got about well, but not really making any big impact.
Brady 6 - There were definetly some positive moments and he was involved in thebetter moves at the start. Offerred us much more than Lennon, all round.
Cork 5 - Started off well, really getting about, but then just fizzled out to the point where I forgot he was even on the pitch until his injury.
Hendrick 3 - Very poor today. Didn't look comfortable at all. Hardly involved.
Vokes 5 - Isolated for the majority of his time to be fair.

Wood 4 - Came on and didn't really make any impact at all.
Westwood 5 - Not a lot he could do at that point.
Barnes 5 - At least he put himself about, not much else he could do, game was over well before he entered the fray.

Did you really think that Taylor had a worse game than Tarks and Mee and was as bad as Cork?

It's very hard to get into the face of a team when every single player is coached to go to ground at the faintest touch! They were outstanding at keeping the ball but they were the worst I've seen for years for gamesmanship. I can count on one hand the number of Chelsea players who didn't attempt to cheat today and that says it all when you consider they used 14! We were on a hiding to nothing today but the gamesmanship leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

We huffed and puffed but Cork looks leggy, Hendrick let his head drop after gifting them the first and we basically looked second best... which we are in comparison to Chelsea.

Hart - 7 two top drawer saves, possibly could have done better with the 2nd goal

Lowton - 4 struggled with willian

Tarkowski - 5

Mee - 4 1st goal came from him playing Hendrick into trouble

Taylor - 6 pick of the defence

Cork - 4 awful, injury might give him a much needed break

Defour - 6 already showing what a difference he makes to our team and our football

Gudmundsson - 5

Brady - 4 understandably rusty

Hendrick - 5 back in his least effective position he was actually pretty effective. The cheers when his number went up were disgraceful.

Vokes - 6 incredibly tough job but still won a decent amount in the air and held it up. Inexplicably replaced by

Wood - 4 pointless sticking him up top on his own as he's nowhere near the presence vokes is

Barnes - 4

A promising start was stopped in its tracks by a sucker punch first goal that was entirely our fault. Mee's shockingly bad ball put Hendrick in a no win situation and once the ball was popped in it was game over.

Quite why a team that is so far ahead of us in terms of quality needs to resort to diving and feigning injury, I've no idea but when you've got officials as inept and weak as today's, they know they can get away with anything.

It all added up to a game to forget; the kind that showcases most of the bad things about the premier league. Two totally mismatched teams, top players needlessly cheating and the officials that only serve to highlight how bad the lower leagues must have it, if they're the best.

Excellent Chelsea performance. Awful Burnley performance. And, judging by the atmosphere, nobody really that arsed.

Let's have a Tuesday nighter under the lights instead of this insipid Sunday lunch tackle.

Hart 8 - kept the score down yet again.
Lowton 4 - Willian bullied him.
Tarky 5 - Rare poor defensive performance
Mee 6 - looked better today than he has done in previous games
Taylor 5 - poor
JBG 6 - worked really hard to try and help Lowton but attacking wise he wasn't great
Defour 6 - showed for the ball a lot and tried to get things going, just didn't have much luck.
Brady 6 - an OK first game back, tried.
Cork 4 - worst game in a Burnley shirt?
Hendrick 3 - if I could score him less than a 3 I would, desperately bad effort from him today, surprised with the sarcastic cheers even though he was crap. He's not a number 10.
Vokes 6 - didn't deserve to be subbed. Worked hard with little to work with.

Wood 4 - doesn't influence the game as a sub.

Weird game in which we did some things well, but unusually (and slightly concerningly) for us our defensive shape didn't do enough to make things difficult for Chelsea at times - partly because they were very good, but partly because we weren't at it.

Hart - 7 - a couple of very good saves, but found wanting for the second goal (which not unlike last week, tipped the balance after we started the second half with some purpose).

Lowton - 5 - started the game well, but he's part of a back 4 which isn't entirely working in unison at the minute and he struggled 1v1 at times.

Taylor - 7 - a couple of shaky moments but stood up to the challenge pretty well all in all.

Tarkowski - 7 - should have scored with a first half header immediately after we went behind and had a couple of shaky moments defensively (mainly when he overplayed) but the best of the back four.

Mee - 6 - got his blocks in, but I've not seen a Dyche Burnley team have such a crooked defensive line so often and as the captain he takes some responsibility for that. Equally culpable as Hendrick for the opening goal, both for playing him into trouble and then for failing to deal with the counter better.

Cork - 4 - decent enough when we had the ball, but the longer he was on the pitch, the more of a weak link he became and he was miles off the pace when Chelsea attacked with purpose before his own frustration injures himself. Probably the most worrying performance today, and it was a surprise it wasn't him rather than the more effective Hendrick who made way first.

Defour - 6 - some great passes when we had the ball, but without it he's understandably still very rusty and Chelsea took him out of the game way too easily.

Hendrick- 6 - involved in plenty of nice first half link up down our right and dropped deeper a number of times to good effect, and he's always good without the ball, but he still doesn't link with Comes as well as we really needed him too. Gave the ball away badly for the opening goal, although he was one the one punished out of several who committed similar crimes. Can't believe anyone can credibly rate him below Cork today, and to echo Quoon, the boos when he was subbed today were a disgrace and a bad indictment on the fans.

JBG- 6 - bright enough in possession but another who wasn't as effective defensively as we needed him to be.

Brady - 6 - pretty bright with the ball which was great to see after such a long lay off, but struggled as the game went on without it (understandably), and in truth the 20 minutes Cork's injury forced him to play were really a bridge too far.

Vokes - 5 - he needs support in these sorts of games and he didn't have it today - there were a few nice flicks and lay offs when we got ball into him and runners off him, but we couldn't do that enough and as a result he proved too static target.

Wood - 5 - more mobile than Vokes but by that point the game was gone.

Barnes - 6 - hustle and bustle caught the eye, even if in truth he was no more effective than those who went before.

Westwood- 6 - stiffened the midfield a bit, to his credit, before Defour and Brady faded to leave him short of support late on.

To some extent, if you use games against City and Chelsea to get games into the legs of players returning from long lay offs, you're writing the games off, and that's broadly what happened today. We started well, pressing high and keeping the ball to let us get into a 433 shape, and probably should have scored when Brady lashed wide from 18 yards with the keeper prone.

But we didn't, Chelsea began to monopolize the ball and then we saw the real worry - the way Chelsea were able to run off the back of our midfield to get at the back four, which was in turn too often was exposed as being uncharacteristically chaotic.

That said, until the second goal went in, we were once again well in the game, and we only got truly overrun once Cork was off and Brady and Defour exhausted in the last 10 minutes. But overall, this was a slightly worrying afternoon - no need to overreact, but we need to rediscover that strong jaw Dyche used to point to, and quickly.

Hart. 7. Did what he could. Two excellent saves.
Lowton. 6. Up against world class players.
Mee. 5. Any long ball played over his head beat him
Tarks. 5. Some bad judgment calls today.
Taylor. 6. See Lowton
JBG.7.Decent attacking threat and excellent covering.
Defour. 6. Flashes of his best.
Cork. 6. Thought this was a decent performance against tough opposition.
Hendrick. 4. At fault on the first goal and ridiculous booking.
Brady. 7. Our best player on the day.
Vokes. 6. Held the ball up well but little support.

Wood and Barnes. 5.

Thought Chelsea looked very good.

Hart 7 - some excellent saves but could have done better with their first 2
Lowton 6 - got forward despite having his hands full defensively
Tarkowski 6 - good in parches
Mee 5 - below par
Taylor 4 - our system is built around full backs getting forward and he doesn't. Poor defensively too
JBG 7 * - shone occasionally
Defour 5 - rusty
Cork 7 - had a lot of work to do with little support
Brady 6 - already better than Lennon
Hendrick 4 - lost
Vokes 6 - led the line well

Subs

Wood 6 - looked interested
Barnes 6 - as wood

Hart - 9 - Excellent and saved us from conceding 2 more at least.
Lowton 7 - Showed intent.
Mee - 6 meh
Tarks - 6 see Mee
Taylor - 7 Tried to attack.
JBG - 6 - Targeted by Cheatski as our creative outlet.
Cork- 4 - Woeful. Off the pace and caught in possession again as he has been so many times this season.
Defour - 7 - Kept the ball moving and drew in Cheatski players. No opportunity to provide creative play.
Brady - 6 - Looked good for a guy who's been out for so long. Understandably rusty at the end.
Hendrick - 4 - Turned up, F*!ked up, F*!ked off. Still not a number 10, no matter how long Dyche is going to keep trying him there.
Vokes - 7 - I thought he did better than usual, winning headers. No chances of note for him to have a go at.

Dyche - 5 - FFS man learn that Hendrick is not a PL number 10. Particularly when you have Vydra sat on the bench.

So much wrong today. Youd expect to get beat by Chelsea but something seriously wrong with this team this season, no fight, no tackling, heads drop after conceding and we don't look like even threatening the opposing keeper.

Hart 7
Lowton 7
Mee 5 - never got to grips to Morata's clever movement.
Tarks 5 - see Mee
Taylor 7 - thought he really dug in today
JBG 5 - was surprised by his MOM, felt he struggled and didn't capitalise on some half-good positions
Cork 6 - surprised at low marks for him, felt he looked much more stable with Defour beside him
Defour 7* - misused the ball twice I counted, and that when the game was getting on and he was understandably flagging, so good to see him back
Brady 6 - did OK, albeit on the fringes of the game which is no surprise given his lay-off
Hendrick 5 - not too much from him, but 4-5-1 against Chelsea is an understandable way to approach the game.
Vokes 7 - led the line pretty well, looked like he hurt his back just before half time
--
Barnes 6
Wood 6
Westwood 6
--
Not worried about today in the slightest. Much improved from the United home game, for example, and we tried to play some football which against a lesser team could have been difficult for the opposition to deal with. Started both halves well and were undone by a super slick Chelsea team that had the benefit of two 'worldies' - we need to be less sloppy in possession in games against the elite teams but given our best two players with the ball were playing their first and second matches respectively, after 18 months out between them, suggests we will improve. A little bit disappointed to see Vydra cast aside, felt he showed promise in his early outings and can't see why he hasn't been afforded a bit more of an opportunity.

Hart 7
Lowton 4 poor yet again
Taylor 6
Mee 4 as Lowton worryingly abc continues to struggle
Tarkowski 5
Cork 5
Defour 6
JBG 6
Hendrick 4
Brady 5
Vokes 6

A worrying pattern is developing which is lack of energy and fight. Something is not right in the clarets camp at present.

Don't do the scores, but I was delighted to see that in the last two games we have switched back to our successfully proven plan of playing one low scoring centre forward up front totally isolated and ineffective on his own, whilst our two potential number 10s, Vydra and Barnes warm the bench. At the same time we have gone back to playing Hendrick in a role that neither he nor any one else understands. Our midfield no longer protects our defence at all and our centre backs have decided to ignore each other's positional play during the game. Roll on West Ham away, where I am sure we can continue with these successful tactics.

Hart 7
Lowton 5
Taylor 7 (mom)
Tarks 5
Mee 6
JBG 5
Brady 5
Cork 4 ok ish on the ball, but quite slow in playing it, off the ball sluggish and emptied the midfield allowing Chelsea pretty much free reign
Hendrick 5 no doubt at fault for the first but one of our few players that tries to move the ball quickly and with that we have at lest a slim chance of getting in on opponents
Defour 6 first game back so benefit of the doubt, comfortable on the ball but he empties the centre a few times which allowed Chelsea to drive through the heart of our midfield
Vokes 5 poor lad had no chance vs those two with little support or delivery

Subs all 6 because it looked ever so slightly better with those on

This. I left at this point as I’d started to lose the will to live!
