Cricket Field stand less than half full as the game went into extra time. Other stands similar. Why do so called supporters abandon the team when times are tough?

Re: So called supporters!
I nearly always leave with one minute to go, whether we’re winning 5-0, losing 5-0, winning by one, losing by one, or drawing. I never leave whilst the ball is in play as I think that’s disrespectful to those around me. That minute gets me home over 40 minutes quicker (Guiseley). I’m not apologising for my choices. If people choose to leave at half time, that’s their choice. They pay their money and they pay again two weeks later. I do consider myself to be a loyal supporter too, a damn loyal one.

Is that de 89th minute or do you wait for the board to go up to see how much overtime is being played and stay until only 1 minute of it is left.jdrobbo wrote:I nearly always leave with one minute to go

It's not the fans who turned it into an industry with multi millionaires playing. If they want that sort of relationship, they'd need to reverse the last 50 years.Carport wrote:Support through thick and thin good times and bad. Support should be unconditional
Re: So called supporters!
The bloke next to me had to leave at half time, it wasn't football related, fair play to him just coming for the first half knowing he would have to go. If it was a bit warmer I'd have stayed at the caravan and not bothered going as it was 1:30pm on Sunday which is a right inconvenience for me. I left in time added on however if I was driving I would have gone earlier as had a family meal to attend.

I don’t leave because I’m a bad supporter, It’s just something I have/like to do these days as he struggles to walk without support.

Re: So called supporters!
I have no problem with people leaving when the result of a game is clearly decided, especially after a performance as tepid as today’s What I’ve never got is why people leave when a game that they’ve paid good money to watch is still in the balance, just to get home a bit earlier or, worse, get to the bar first.
Re: So called supporters!
I left before the end because I was bored sh1tless but then again unlike leisure the club don't give me as many away tickets as I want so I have to defend them at every opportunity. If people leave they leave
Re: So called supporters!
People have their own reasons. If we are 1-0 down in the last few minutes and threatening why would you want to leave ? The crowd can help. If you are 4-0 down the game has gone and you haven't threatened to get anything out of it by playing negative poor football without remotely looking like scoring it's more difficult to question it.

Don't think I'm.renewing next year either.
I'm bored, my son's bored and the entertainment factor is at zero. The best bit about the games in recent week has been the full time whistle.
It's painful to watch.
SD can have a job for life here for me, as he's helped forfill many of my childhood dreams, but sadly whilst the dross looks like continuing to be served up on a extreamly regular basis, I don't want to comit to watching it for another 18 months.
I always say to my kids , if you don't enjoy something, stop doing it and find something different to do, so I am taking my own advice.
Edit - I know of half a dozen who I attend with doing the same for similar reasons, and many more in the pubs pre match talking about doing the same.
It's a shame, but the powers that be have missed a massive opportunity AGAIN , to move forward and evolve
18k and a flat atmosphere will be a regular occurrence next season I'm affraid.

For the first time that i can remember i left very early, bored of the game, annoyed at poor refereeing, fed up of rich well paid footballers cheating the people who pay to watch them, angry at poor tactics an substitutions.

I agree up to a point, but how far “forward” do you think it’s possible to push from where we are now? I think the “boredom” people talk about is less to do with the football, and more to do with a growing realisation that this is as good as it gets.

I left with 10 minutes to go as I had a prior arrangement, before the game being moved
I will also miss West Ham at home, as it is my Daughters wedding which she arranged 18 months ago.
But the fixture was changed 2 weeks ago.
Premier league fans may leave early, but after 50 years of watching the clarets, sometimes TV changes made me do so

Re: So called supporters!
There could be a million reasons for someone leaving early. And every one their business.
Parking
Long journey home
Child care
Job
Medical reasons
Boredom
Piles
Family commitments
They hate losing
Stay...leave....paint yourself Claret and blue and flagellate yourself with a match day programme. It’s all good.
It really is just a game.

2+ hour drive home. Leaving a few minutes early means a chance of getting away before the traffic is stopped for the away coaches.
Re: So called supporters!
My 5 hour journey is over. I start until the end and clapped the team.
Got my ticket for Leicester, where I hope there will be a following worthy of the usual strong, singing away fans.

I pay for my ticket and that means I can leave when I want. What do people want? If everyone stayed until full time people would then complain that people are leaving before watching and applauding the players warm down.
The game was over and people are entitled to leave. I left with 2 mins of injury time left was we were losing 4-0 and all I could think about was getting home having my nice warm tea. Am I a shamed of this? Nope. Love a good Sunday tea.

Re: So called supporters!
Extra time...?
Overtime...?
Surely you mean injury time...?
I left as the 90 minutes popped up - my daughter wanted to go to her friends house for a bit so we left before the final whistle. What got my goat was the hoards of fans in the CFS who left after their 3rd went in with a good half hour to go. I understand those who leave slightly early to beat traffic, or the odd fan who wants to get grandad home because he’s cold - I don’t get those fans who gave up on the team after going 1-0 down and stopped supporting them and as far as I could see happened to be the same bunch moaning at our players and then left early. At least support the team, it might actually have an impact on the them!

Re: So called supporters!
Well there has been some absolute rubbish posted on here since we have been beaten by two of the best two teams in world football.
So we get rid of the manager who got us into European football for the first time in 50 years in May?
We sack the Board?
We stop buying season tickets and even stop watching the games this season for the one's that we have bought?
The players are now all not fit for purpose.
The people who organise the supporters groups very well cannot do their jobs?
Some people need to get lives.
Do we want a new Board? Manager? Backroom staff? Team? League 1? No supporters Clubs?
End up like Blackpool?
No thanks.

We never leave early. We have a journey of 4 to 5 hrs but I understand those who do.
Re boredom when we abandon the nonsense of passing across the back instead of quickly forward this factor will disappear.Sean can see its folly especially today as it was Ben Mee playing across that gifted the first goal

I didn’t go on yesterday as I had other things on.
The only reason I am driving the 90 mins from Leeds over to Burnley is to see my mates and have a pint with them. I don’t go for the football anymore because there isn’t any.
I doubt I will renew next year
