From TV

Hart 6

Lowton 4
Tarkowski 4
Mee 6
Taylor 6

Lennon 3
Westwood 4
Defour 4
JBG 7 (+1 for goal)

Vydra 4
Vokes 4

Subs

Wood 7 (+1 for goal)
Barnes 4
Brady 5

First half was terrible and it was a miracle we managed to go in level. Second half we were better going forward but defensively we look all over the place at the moment. Every time West Ham came forward they looked like they were going to score and, more often than not, did. As bad as it was, that score line probably flatters us.

Lucky to be in game at half time then started the 2nd half well. We can’t continue to defend like this and Lowton Tarkowski were poor yet again and we have a keeper who has shipped 13 goals in 3 games don’t remember Heaton or Pope conceding at the rate Hart does.

Hart. 5. Okay but some fumbling.
Lowton. 5. Struggled most of the time but our biggest problem lay elsewhere
Tarks. 3. Absolutely awful on so many levels
Mee. 8. MOM. Back to his best until the 92nd minute
Taylor. 7. Thought he had a good game
Lennon. 4. Very poor, as usual, don't know how he starts
Detour. 4. Poor today and fortunate not to concede a penalty
Westwood. 5. Couldn't stamp any authority on the game
JBG. 7. Thought he did pretty well going forward and defensively today
Vydra. 5. Largely anonymous
Vokes. 5. See Vydra.

Hart 6 - Yet again kept the score down
Lowton 3- Horrendous/woeful/amateurish/gutless
Taylor 6 - Did ok
Mee 6 - Did ok
Tarkowski 3 - Horrendous/ woeful/amateurish/idiotic
Defour 4 - Anonymous
Waywood 4 - one pass for our 1st goal, other than that useless, couldn't pass water and constantly put us under pressure
JBG 7 MOM
Lennon 5
Vydra 5
Vokes 6

Another defensive horror show. No excuses regarding imaginary fouls at 2-2 can deflect from the fact we are in real trouble. Hell we don't even do the basics right anymore like closing down, clearing our lines, getting blocks in, being able to pass a ball 5 yards, working as a unit.
Dropping Hendrick and putting Waywood in set the tone before a ball was even kicked today imo. Play Hendrick in his preferred position and we might just get the best out of him. Hes the type of box to box player we sorely need

Waywood is a pointless player but he’s so Sean Dyche it hurts. Marriage made in a pragmatic, workmanlike heaven.

If I did do the scores this would mirror what i would state for today's match. I was hopeful Vydra would give us more if started but unfortunately not , and i have my own ideas around our back 5

Good to see ome consistent marks on here and teh same names cropping up as the weak ones - shows there are genuine issues

Hart - 5
Lowton - 3 simply pathetic today.
Tarks - 3 this performance and added cockiness has been coming for a while. Got caught out eventually
Mee - 8 felt for him today. He threw himself into it all day
Taylor - 6 much better esp when going forward
JBG - 7 the only one doing anything really
Defour - 4 off pace
Westwood - 4 missing
Lennon - 5 nowt going forward again but his defensive work goes un noticed
Vydra - 5 tried but looked where near premier league standard
Vokes - 5 looked slow today and again working off nothing

We are genuinely in trouble and look like like a lower half championship team

Second half improvement, but the first half was as bad as I've seen us in a long, long time. Even the basics were awful.
We need to remember how to stop conceding soft goals soon, or we're not going to stay up.

I didn’t see the whole game so cannot rate, but were Lowton and Tarkowski really that bad (based on people’s marks) or was Anderson simply sensational? Let us not forget he is a £35m signing. Amazing what a freebie stadium can do.

We seem to be conceding too much space between our defence and midfield. Arnautovic dominated that space today. It leads to lots more shots in and around our box. Our defence is deeper. Not sure why. Solve that, we solve a big problem.

Lowton had a poor game.
For me, that was Tarks worst game for us by some distance.

Following the game on a stream I can't disagree with the sentiments and scores. This " group " has relegation written all over it. Comfortable in their salaries and routine. No desire.
That said as a footballer I'm sure you want to enjoy playing but how we play will that inspire ?

Hart 6 - Could catch more than he does but to lay any blame with him is ridiculous
Lowton 5 - Meh
Tarkowski 5 - Shocker for the 1st but this doesn’t mean he’s been bad all season contrary to what many seem to be saying. He’s a good lad and hope we keep him.
Mee 7 - Good ‘ed
Taylor 8 - very good today. He’s definitely got something. Show it more regularly plz.
Gudmundsson 6 - Took it well. Right foot would come in handy now and again
Westwood 5 - Stop giving it away
Defour 6 - I’d rather him play than not play and he could save us this year. Defo pen against him not given though
Lennon 5 - Meh
Vydra 6 - Championship
Vokes 5 - Championship

Wood 7 - Most likely to score for us
Barnes 5 - Stop looking for it, get up
Brady 6 - Much needed going forward

Any calls for Dyche to go are embarrassing, ungrateful and short sighted, but it concerns me that we have lost all sense of our identity. What are we at the moment? Conceding loads and offering little going forwards it seems. Our ball retention in particular is atrocious and it really does look like our boys don’t want the ball, whereas they were desperate to get on it last year. Victims of our own success and the confidence it brought I think. To expect anything else than where we are now is to see last year as a blueprint for the future rather than an absolute one-off (which it 100% was, by the way). We shouldn’t forget that and we should have enough just about, but we need to sort it out and soon.

Hart 7 (never appears to do anything wrong and actually makes some good saves, BUT the goals against column is becoming a PL joke and SOMETHING has to change! Might be worth a try.)
Lowton 6 (gives wingers far too much room to receive easy balls and then run at us)
Tarks 4 (head all over the place)
Mee 8 (kept us in it right up to the end tbh and the goal line clearance was simply amazing)
Taylor 7 (once a whipping boy, but actually becoming the one ray of light. played well enough)
Defour 6 (not yet the prodigal return many were hoping for)
Westwood 6 (he's decent back up, but he really can't carry a PL midfield pretty much on his own!)
JBG 7 (the one real threat and the one person who looked up for it)
Lennon 4 (I'm shaking my head here)
Vydra 6 (lively)
Vokes 6 (not very lively)

Wood 6 (useless, but goal was well taken so + 1)
Barnes 5
Brady 5

We simply can't defend and every team looks like they'll score against us whenever they attack us, which is pretty much none stop at the moment. During Eddie Howe's time we defended rather like this and the problem wasn't always the obvious one i.e. a rubbish back five, it was actually a lack of real defence and cover from midfield and this is a massive issue once again imo. Teams move from half way to within striking distance of our goal with consummate ease and the number of unchallenged shots raining down on us from just outside the area is ridiculous. Teams have time and space to pick passes and over 90 minutes at this level you'll get battered. After battling really hard to 2-2 with 10 minutes left over the past 3 years we'd have seen this game out comfortably, but we all knew it was unlikely as things stand and so it proved. Something isn't right and the most reliable of players are messing up individually and as a collective game after game. The one bright spot is Taylor who is just starting to find his PL feet, which will be very welcome in the Championship!

Having watched the highlights again on the tele our right back put in a Marie Celeste performance that was worse than what Hendrick was rightly chastised for last weekend!

Hart 4
Lowton 3
Tarkowski 3
Mee 5
Taylor 7
Lennon 4
Westwood 3
Defour 3
Gudmundsson 5
Vydra 3
Vokes 5

Barnes 4
Brady 5
Wood. 6

Thought Mee had a strange game seemed more interested in getting back and making goal line blocks than closing down and actually defending.

Discipline is also letting us down.Defour could have given away a penalty and Tarky got a red on top of the other 3 yellows.

Sliding towards relegation

Heaton 5 - one good save, a couple of routine saves which were made to look more difficult than they were and some poor handling. The back 5 doesn't seem anything like as stable as it has done in the previous 5 seasons, and he doesn't seem to have the same understanding as Heaton and Pope have had.
Lawton 4 - caught out of position regularly and left Tarkowski exposed at times.
Tarkowski 4 -sluggish with and without the ball. In many ways the first goal summed up our downfall of the day. Every goal of there's came from our own sloppiness.
Mee 8 - some poor distribution but some great blocks and tackles. Thankfully this side of the defence was solid otherwise it could have been even worse than it was.
Taylor 7 - stood up well against a tricky opponent, a and a great cross for Wood.
Gudmundson 5- not really in the game unfortunately. Not sure he gave Lowton the best cover either unfortunately. Took his goal very well though.
Devour 5- not up to to pace as of yet and his distribution wasn't at the level we would expect of him. We looked very lightweight I'm there with him and Westwood.
Westwood 5 - really sloppy in possession, didn't break things up but one cracking pass for the first goal.
Lennon 4 - don't think we get th best out of him in that side. Whilst he defended well he didn't do anything like enough when we had the ball unfortunately, both in terms of his own use of it and his movement whilst we had it.
Vydra 5 - picked up some excellent positions early in the second half. Unfortunately he was weak and wasteful she in those positions. Didn't help Westwood and Defour enough off the ball either.
Vokes 5 - a nuisance but not involved enough to threaten,

Wood 6 - great header for our second and unlucky with the effort that hit the bar. Looked much better than he has previously this season.
Barnes 4 - badly at fault for their third I'm afraid. Throwing himself to the ground in the manner he did completely took him out of the game and contributed to us losing our shape. I'm not sure what's going on with him this season, we need that strength and aggression back from him which we saw in the middle of last season. He's reverted to trying too hard to win free kicks rather than trying to win the ball and making it uncomfortable for the defence. I'm a fan but I hope Dyche has some stern words because we need Barnes contributing which he hasn't other than a couple of good finished against Bournemouth,
Brady 5- another to get pulled out of the shape for their third.

The architects of our own downfall yesterday. The shape was generally OK in the first half but we were sluggish and there was no purpose to our play. Second half the energy was much better and we were creating chances once more however the use of the ball is really, really poor and its cost us for every single goal yesterday. We need to be much sharper and incisive with our use of the ball when we win it, if we can do that consistently and get our passing success up then we will be absolutely fine. If not then it's going to be a case of hoping that there are 3 teams worse than us. Lots and lots of work to be done, but we've proved we are capable previously and we have absolutely the right man in place to turn these players around.
