Jesus. It's like his leg grew 6 inches mid-swing and could no longer clear the ground.

If Pep was such a bastion for fair play he could have easily instructed City to miss the penalty . I thought not !!Vegas Claret wrote:kicked the floor and the ref gave a pen, knobhead 900th official stood next to the post said nothing - even Guardiola told the 4th official it wasn't a pen !

He told the 4th official it wasn't a pen - that is all I was saying, the rest I agree with you ! Really no need to have officials behind the goal as they contribute nothingRocketLawnChair wrote:If Pep was such a bastion for fair play he could have easily instructed City to miss the penalty . Re: Oh my god, Sterling!!
The ref's view seemed to be obstructed; in which case, how can he give a pen?
The extra official behind the goal looked to be in a good position but he said nowt- so (as Vegas says) why have the guy there if he can't contribute any sensible input.

World class goal from Sterling in the second half.

All that's wrong with football these days, right there in that one incident.
A bloody disgrace all round.

Kicked the ground and tripped. Wasn’t a dive. If it happened to us in the champions league and one of our players owned up to it I’d want them flogging you just don’t do that at the highest level.Funkydrummer wrote:Would that be the rock that he tripped over ?

Complain all you like but it doesn’t detract from the hard hitting reality.
EDIT: Doesn’t affect Sterling being certified world class either
Re: Sterling trips and gets awarded a penalty
We did indeed and it was right in front of the Burnley fans.
Re: Sterling trips and gets awarded a penalty
Pep isn’t this great boss. He inherited a team that finished fourth the previous year. He’s spent bucketloads but Lords over a team of Divers.
Bernardo n Sane vrs Burnley.
Now they pay Sterling £1.2m per month to behave like he did tonight
Despicable Pep

If you actually watch you’ll see the front of his boot gets caught in the ground as he goes to shoot. Blame lies solely with the ref.Funkydrummer wrote:"Kicked the ground and tripped " - my ar$e.

I have no opinion whatsoever on his ability - he concerns me not one jot in that regard.
Re: Oh my god, Sterling!!
Side note:
If Sterling is supposed to own up to it not being a penalty, shouldn’t every defender now own up when they take someone out in the box and it doesn’t get given??

Reported that he's just signed a £300,000 per week contract.

Re: Sterling trips and gets awarded a penalty
He’s a cheating git who can’t do anything without cities superstars around him. He proved he’s hopeless by himself last summer. He runs like a duck and falls over and, well cheats. All cities players cheat to be fair, like Sane against us. But just like their fainical fair play they get away with it because they are city and are rich therefore you can’t touch them.

Re: Oh my god, Sterling!!
Same old city, always cheating. They did it against us. They have all them brilliant world class players yet they all decide to cheat, and they always get away with it because they are rich and untouchable. We’ll have to get used to it though as this is what modern football is all about. Anything that causes controversy and boosts tv viewers in China is here to stay.

Re: Oh my god, Sterling!!
I agree with those saying he’s a cheat. If you watch it, you can see him hanging back, aware of the defender and awaiting some kind of contact. When it doesn’t come, he instgates the “trip”. He got what he was hoping for. IMO.

Tyrone Mears vs Hull in ‘10 was the best one. Went to cross it with his right foot, nudged it with his left, fresh aired, fell over, PENALTY!

Erm No! because it is a contact sport. You do realise nobody was nowhere bloody near Sterling don't you? The referee in this instance as made a honest mistake Sterling rather than then being honest himself as reaped the benefits it is cheating.SGr wrote:Side note:
