No Clarets in England squad
Assumed for so long, but now almost a surprise, but with Tarkowski and Pope both out injured and Hart clearly no longer in the plans - we've got an England squad with no Burnley players although Michael Keane returns to join Kieran Trippier.
With Wayne Rooney selected, I wondered whether Martin Dobson might get another call up.

Re: No Clarets in England squad
No real surprise there CT, none of our English players are not playing well enough to turn Southgates head, Corky and Tarks are badly out of form, at least they wont pick up injuries on international duty but lets hope a return to some kind of improvement this weekend from all our lads.

I wouldn't expect Cork to make another squad to be honest, Tarkowski is currently injured.moaninclaret wrote:Corky and Tarks are badly out of form, at least they wont pick up injuries on international duty

Hart should be in there over Butland. Cant argue with any other omissions.

He may well be, but he chose to pack it in at international level - the good news is, he won't be starting the game. I think bringing him back like this is a joke.theroyaldyche wrote:Rooneys better than 2 or 3 of them call ups.

What about Jimmy Anderson? He's still going strong for England.

Re: No Clarets in England squad
The right call. Cork actually did quite well when he played for England but he's been out of form for us for a while. Tarkowski should be nowhere near it at the moment.

Tarks wasn't exactly displaying England form before he was injured.
Corks been poor for a while now.

I don't think Pope will progress once fit.
No basis, just a feeling he will be a bench warmer at best.
'Arry Winks sounds like a good old London boy, nothing the media love more.

Re: No Clarets in England squad
Tarks is injured. He has been poor the last two games (probably partly because he is playing injured) but excellent generally this season in my view. Certainly would be in with a shot of not injured.
Re: No Clarets in England squad
Who have thought before SD took over six years ago we'd be disappointed that we didn't have any current players in the England squad?

If they don’t buck up soon there’ll be no Clarets in the Premier League either.

Re: No Clarets in England squad
I suppose some irony that Keane is probably taking up Tarkowski's place.
