MIGHTY CLARETS v Newcastle Geordies

Post by IanMcL » Mon Nov 26, 2018 6:21 pm

I have arrived and parked nearby. Floodlights lit in readiness.

Hope for a great night under those lights, with the Clarets nailing the 3 points and improving the goal difference.

Madge is raring to go and calls on us all to do our bit. I think she has been watching 'Come Dancing' in Blackpool!

Come on you Clarets

No JBG is a massive blow ffs thought they said he was fit. Wouldn’t have Vokes over Barnes. Nice to see Gibson on bench.

Does anyone know what has happened to McNeil? Something doesn’t seem right.

That'll be Wood off and Vydra on in the 70th minute. Vydra behind Vokes.

Why isn't Vydra starting?

Lennon and Vokes in again doesnt fill me with confidence. If JBG is injured then with our lack of options you cant argue with Lennon but need to get Barnes, Vydra or even Hendrick behind Wood

Still a game we should be winning so lets hope Vokes proves me wrong and we get the 3 pts we need

I can't figure out how Vokes is still starting. Wood's our best out and out striker and Vydra and Barnes are both better at linking play. What does Vokes bring? Not much.

No JBG a blow. Not keen on Wood and Vokes together. Brady starting is good news though.

I must be seeing a different lineup to other posters. People were praying that Brady would be fit - he is. People were hoping that Defour was ok and would start - he is. People wanted Wood back in - he is. Gibson is now back, too.

Leaving home in five mins to watch the game in Benalmadena. Playing Wood and Vokes up front together didn't work at Leicester, so I'm not surprised we're trying it again. Would have liked to have seen JBG and Vydra/Barnes playing, but heyho, let's hope for three points, come on you Clarets!!!

Who else is relieved to see Gibson on the bench - it means he's fit enough to be included. I was worried about either Long or Mee getting a red card (after reading about Newcastle going the longest time without the opposition getting a red) and then us being without a recognised central defender for the next game...

Come on lads no negativity about the line up.

Dyche will have picked what he thinks is his strongest team to beat Newcastle.

I feel a decent performance is long overdue and will be on show tonight.

Hendrick ahead of Cork for a start. He's having a really poor season, with no sign of it turning around. Hendrick had a really good start to the season and gets dropped. We need to move the ball faster in the middle and that just isn't Jack Corks forte.
I like Lennon , he works his socks off defensively, but Bournemouth apart he's shown nothing going forward.
We look like we are set up to play on the break, at home to Newcastle for crying out loud.
We need to be positive and play on the front foot, and that line up doesn't fill me with confidence.
It has 0-0 written all over it, but with our scoring record this season, if they score first we are screwed.

I just hope I'm wrong.

But he's been doing that all season, and look where we are.
I honestly believe we have a better starting XI, I also think we can play a better style, but to do that you need round pegs in round holes.

Our midfield just isn't working, neither giving the defence adequate cover or creating chances.
Two up front? Smells like hoofball to me. Surely if we intend to play through the middle third we'd have to put 5 in midfield?

They are playing Clark at LB, due to injury, I’ll be upset if Lennon doesn’t lay at least 2 on for us. Otherwise Hendrick for Cork perhaps but SD sees them training every day so he knows. Everyone has a different preference from our 4 strikers and they will all get on.
