MIGHTY CLARETS v Newcastle Geordies
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS v Newcastle Geordies
I don't think we're playing at all bad. Newcastle have got lucky there and have basically sat back whilst we've had the majority of possession and are doing all the probing to get back in it. As for one touch neat passing in the build up it's been excellent. Not easy penetrating a team that has got a lucky 2 goal lead to defend. 342 passes to 213 in Burnley's favour ... how often does that happen. btw ... commentators are talking out their arse.
We can win this one with the same application as the first half .... C'mon you Clarets !

We need to go all out for them, despite great goal from Vokes I'd still be tempted to bring on Vydra and take off Brady

We've certainly made great strides both on and off the pitch in his time with us. I do hope we can continue to do so but I must admit to having my doubts of late. I'll do my best to keep the faith!FactualFrank wrote:Like you say, he's got a secure job. No way - and rightly so - are our board going to sack him. He's done very well overall and we've gone from "Burnley?" to "Burnley - ah yes, the football team". My point being, he's put us on the map.

Newcastle tired, bedtime coming up, and we will make sure a sweet dream of a two goal lead, turn's to a 4-2 nightmare..

I’m glad of this extra thirty minutes now. It’d be nearly full time otherwise and we need a goal.

Reminds me of Brexit, you want an outcome but have no idea what the options were, the budget we had, what other teams/players wanted to do etc.IndigoLake wrote: last summer was our best ever chance to really push on and upgrade the team and I don't think we did that.

Can anybody remember when we challenged from the front?
They’ve just spent a minute passing it around between their CHs & keeper nobodyarsed to close them down.

They should have had a penalty during the build up of that miss. Truly very lucky.

Honestly everyone pleading for Brady to return, when he does... he just gets stick. Give him a chance.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS v Newcastle Geordies
Of course I don't have all of that information at hand - do you? I make the best of the information I do have. It was my opinion (and don't worry, it's only an opinion), that we should have done better. I'm happy with the signings of Hart, Gibson and Vydra (though the latter isn't getting much of a chance despite being fit and available) but I felt we missed an opportunity to upgrade in a couple of other positions. We've been lacking in the transfer market for a good while - that's not news. After all, that's why we've brought in Mike Rigg. I'm basically just pointing out the blindingly obvious.CombatClaret wrote:Reminds me of Brexit, you want an outcome but have no idea what the options were, the budget we had, what other teams/players wanted to do etc.

Brady struggles but does show for the ball. Cork has had more touches than anyone.
Defensively though we are so fragile. That open goal.....

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS v Newcastle Geordies
soooooooooooooooooooooo much room for Lennon to run in behind Ritchie and he cuts inside and plays the ball backwards
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS v Newcastle Geordies
He'll never get back up to speed if you lot keep giving him grief - let him get some games under his belt before you start slating the lad. Everyone has been poor tonight, I personally think Cork has been off the pace since the start of the season - harsh to single Brady out.boatshed bill wrote:He's clearly not yet up to speed. It's not as though we have a plethora of alternatives... an injured JBG or McNeil. I'd take Brady even when he's off the pace.Belgianclaret wrote:Agree, but after this one

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS v Newcastle Geordies
when we've created chances this season it's very often when our wingers get towards the byline and get a cross in, far too many times we are launching crosses in from 50 yards away, plain daft.

Thought Wood did well with his snap volley earlier, but he should have scored there I think. Bit more composure. At least we have created chances tonight I guess.

We're not exactly overrunning them on the flanks. I'd be tempted to switch Lennon to the left and bring on Vydra or even Hendrick operating narrow from the rightwhiffa wrote:It's not as though we have a plethora of alternatives... an injured JBG or McNeil. When we press forwards quickly, we look far more dangerous.
