Beyond disappointing.
SD outmanaged comprehensively and displayed his shortcomings. Seems to have no idea how to change a game. It wasn’t rocket science. Their back three had pipe and slippers out for most of the game. We got back in to it after a poor first 40 minutes. We should have started the second half buzzing but not even close to doing that and for 20 minutes Newcastle bossed the game.
Our lack of creativity is now embarrassing. Ben Mee was our main source of attacks FFS.
Its back foot football with little or no forward momentum and zero pace.
We now look worse than Cardiff and Huddersfield as we offer so little going forward and relegation is a distinct possibility. Worrying times.

Hart 6 Didn’t do much wrong
Lowton 5 After improving in recent games back to mediocre
Taylor 5 Same as Lowton
Mee 6 Apart from own goal was ok
Long 7 Best of a bad bunch
Defour 5 Played too deep and still not up to speed
Cork 6 Tried hard but predictably outnumbered
Lennon 4 Injury time before he was able to run at a defender and barely in the game
Vokes 6 Doesn’t work well with Wood but battled manfully with a great goal and close to an equaliser
Wood 4 Really not at the races this season
Brady 4 Didn’t do much and when he was involved he was poor. A peripheral figure throughout.

Subs Totally inexplicable that SD waited so long when our formation and tactics were so ineffectual throughout. It’s a massive Achilles heel for SD. We have to stick with him and he deserves time but blimey he is frustrating.

Wood 5
Vokes 5

Absolutely crap by Dyche tbh. As soon as I saw the line up it was obvious this was the kind of performance and result to expect. Vokes and Wood does NOT work. There are NO runners meaning NO options off the ball.

Newcastle were always going to be tough to breakdown so hey ho lets just launch it long to two big men. Worrying.

An absolute disgrace of a performance. Literally nothing to take from it. We don’t look to be doing anything to improve. Our pace is pedestrian, we make so many unforced errors, we are more predictable than we have ever been, we have no ability to retain the football, players look lost… That was just a big mess!

Hart 7 couldn’t do anything with either goal but the lack of organisation at the back since he came in continues to be a worry
Lowton 4 didn’t get close to anyone and poor crossing
Taylor 4 as above
Long 5 gave away far too much space
Mee 5 as above
Brady 3 I bet Benítez hasn’t seen someone picked out his players as much since he had Alonso at Liverpool. How he wasn’t hooked at half time is amazing.
Defour 3 another shocker to the list since he came back
Cork 4 a huge problem for us
Lennon 4 back to playing hide and seek
Wood 5 Needs to be better in front of goal
Vokes 6 at least threatened.

Abysmal performance from everyone really including Dyche, he’s the one who has to sort this out because we’ve become a really really soft touch.

We're getting to the stage where a lowest score of 3 is no longer fit for purpose

Worrying stuff. Our defending as a unit at times looked an absolute shambles and we should have been out of sight after half fine. The organisation and work rate is nowhere near the required levels and our ‘build up’ play is so laboured and predictable it’s painful to watch. Big few weeks coming up.

Hart 6 possibly our most accurate passer when he moved up field
Lowton 3 Dreadful in defence, dreadful distribution going forward and at no point looked remotely ar5ed
Long 6 Did well
Mee 4 An own goal and at fault for the killer second
Taylor 6 Did ok
Lennon 5
Defour 5
Cork 4 Slow, ponderous, wayward,weak
Brady 5 rusty
Wood 4 Reminds me of Brendan O'Connell with his wastefulness
Vokes 8 MOM A decent shift from the big man who had a pretty thankless task when partnered with the lump he was tonight. Scored 1 and created at least two chances for others to squander

The alarm bells should be ringing loud and very clear now for all concerned

Hart 5 nothing to do but pick the ball out
Lowton 6
Mee some good blocks shame about both goals
Taylor 6 better 2nd half made some good runs
Long 6 some good tackles very strong distribution slow
Defour 6 improved second half but tired
Lennon 8 controversy! Did nobody notice his defensive work put 100 percent in
Brady 4 sloppy in possession
Cork 6 worked so hard and did well let down by sloppy passing
Vokes 8. Won everything even beat his man for pace twice
Wood 6 better than he has been two woeful efforts though

All in all I thought it was a decent performance unlucky not to get anything out of it

Hart - 6
Lowton 6 - at least he tried to bring us forward
Long 6
Mee 6
Taylor 5 - needs to get forward more
Lennon 5
Defour 6 - Didn't think he was as poor as others have mentioned above.
Cork 5 - lost possession too much.
Brady 3 - as poor as a performance by a Burnley player I have seen in years.
Vokes 6 - better in second half but lacks pace
Wood 5 - should have got a goal. He's not a striker who should be coming short.

Don't know what to say really. Can't see where the next win is coming from. Teams below us are improving and we are struggling. It's going to be a long hard season. Something has got to change. Why no Vydra again? Absolute waste of money if your not going to play him. He looked really good Vs Bournemouth and he's barely been seen since. Subs were too late again. Bad tactics by Dyche & Co again. How can we go from such a high last season to this shower? Much needed change needed. Everything has a sell by date and I think a few of ours are past it now.

Hart 4 -- how slow off his line is he ?

Lowton 6 - looks good , but then looks like he CBA

Long 8 - solid

Mee 7 - decent

Taylor 5 - not good enough at this level

Lennon 4 - few good chase backs but just not good enough as well , simple as that

Defour 6
--- feel sorry for these 2 . Would hate to play centre mid in this team , absolutely NO MOVEMENT . So it means they get caught on the ball
Cork 6

Brady 3 -- total lack of confidence , why was he on too long ?

Wood 4 - just not good enough

Vokes 7 - great effort - needs a better partner

DYCHE - shockingly uninventive . Just total crap decisions or lack of them . Is Vydra that bad he cant be given 20 minutes in this shambles ?

%100 going down, no way is there going to be 3 worse teams than us .

Hart 5 - Didn’t make a save, didn’t catch a difficult ball, picked his two customary concessions out of the net. No command of his defence. Looks a rabbit in headlights, bewildered how his career took him from winning the Premier League in 2012 to this mess.

Lowton 4 - Repeatedly made awful attempts at crossing the ball as he realised the chance of his ‘winger’ in front of him doing so would be negligible. Ritchie had him rattled most of the game, another who’s dipped hugely.

Long 6 - Ponderous on the ball but at least looks solid enough and doesn’t muck about. No frills, but no mistakes either. I like him.

Mee 4 - So awful with the ball at his feet (don’t give me the “Oh yeah, what about the assist” for his usual aimless punt bearing fruit) but his defence nous usually masked that shortcoming - no more. He is absolutely shocking and for me Gibson goes in. I am sick of waiting for the Ben Mee I have watched for the last seven years to return.

Taylor 3 - Sorry, he’s just gash. He really is a million miles away. His attempts to beat a man and put a cross in are embarrassing. Defensively he’s always losing his man, he’s slow, weak, terrible. Never, ever going to be good enough - even if we go down I’d be replacing him in a heartbeat.

Lennon 4 - Plus one for a decent first half performance where he helped defensively at some key moments. Second half was the ‘Azza’ I have grown tired and weary of seeing game in game out since the lad signed. His fabled pace that gets an airing one run a match appeared again at the end and left Ritchie for dead, if only he could be bothered to perhaps try using it before the game was dead. Get rid, he’s finished and was years ago. I think it would make me physically sick to find out what he is earning.

Defour 4 - You can see what he wants to do, but it’s too laboured, too one paced and too risky in a two man midfield alongside the joker I am about to review. Defour is a class act in the right system, at present though I’m afraid he’s a luxury this team can not sustain or supplement to get the best out of which makes him a liability.

Cork 3 - Absolute joke from the first minute. Constantly caught in possession, struggles to make a single pass reach its man, either underhit or overhit the easiest of balls to players stood only 5-10 yards away. It’s a real shame to see the abrupt degradation of a player who this time last year was in the form of his life getting capped by England. Needs replacing ASAP, sorry Jack.

Brady 3 - If he’s not fit, don’t play him - if he is, don’t play him because that total lack of desire to go in for a 50/50 that could have resulted in us being through on goal was frankly a disgrace. Involved sporadically and almost everything he did went wrong for him. He gets a pass for his recuperation period no doubt still ongoing, but this was a worrying performance.

Wood 3 - Effort was there but he’s just not good enough. Missed two or three really good chances tonight that I think the Wood of last season would have buried. Looks shot of confidence and is yet another to be less than half the player he was.

Vokes 7 - Man of March, obviously. Great, great goal and won his share in the air. In a sea of mediocrity or less, he stood out as the man who played to his abilities.

The subs were too late to review, which in itself is part of the problem. It was crying out for a change at the 60 minute mark as you could visibly see the game fading away from us, and the players heads were dropping.

I have and will continue to support Dyche, but he has a serious problem. This squad are lacking basically everything you need to be successful at this level and have regressed to an almost unbelievable level. He needs to make some very big decisions this January, and admit this mistakes he is making with team selection/formation. His stubborn loyalty will not win through here - that team tonight will get relegated, without a shadow of a doubt.

Hart 5 doesn't organise defence
Lowton 6
Long 7
Mee 5 not a very nice gesture to the JML at full time.
Taylor 5
Brady 3 shocking not fit or interested.
Cork 3 Should have been taken off
Defour 5
Lennon 6 I wish Dyche would encourage him to attack
Wood 3 the guy just can't finish which when he does nothing else is worrying in the extreme.
Vokes 7 mom.
Dyche 3 crap tactics selection and subs.

Hart - 5 seems to be stuck to his goal line
Lowton - 6 ok crossing off
Long - 6 barely noticed him did what he needed to when I did
Mee - 7 tried to get the ball moving forward with the lack of movement ahead. Shame about the Oggy but think it's harsh.
Taylor - 5 looks like he is too relaxed and doesn't seem to put everything into running back, see then they hit the post.
Lennon - 5 some great tracking back so fast but where is the pace going forward. Come on Dyche let's use him in attack.
Brady - 5 off pace ducked out of challenges. Think he is still coming back from injury Dyche should have subbed him earlier.
Defour - 6 if he showed more further up the pitch it would be 7 feel this is our tactics again shackling him.
Cork - 7* similar to Defour but won a few more challenges. Better as a defensive mid.
Vokes - 7 plus 1 for the superb header lacked movement in the first half but seemed to liven up as the game went on.
Wood - 5 lacked movement most of the game then when he did move his finishing was off.

Dyche - 4 not quite jumping on the Dyche out band wagon but his subs were far too late today playing Vokes and Wood didn't work. Heats needs his chance now.

SD 3 tactics, subs, clueless

Watched it on the TV.
It was just embarrassing to watch, again so predictable even the commentator picked out our high balls in the box weren't troubling Newcastle's back 3.
And went on to say this was a good move by benitez and Burnley need to play more on the ground to get behind them!!
SD couldn't see this.

Lowton 5- threw himself around a bit but got caught out with the switched ball time and time again
Long 7- had Rondon in his back pocket most of the game
Mee 5- personal opinion he was at fault for the second and out of position for Ritchies chance. Nowhere near last seasons performances
Taylor 5- caught out a few times and too ponderous overlapping
Lennon 7- don’t understand the abuse today. He made countless runs looking for the ball and wasn’t picked out. Also did well defensively
Defour 6- average and definitely looked shagged when he went off
Cork 5- good first half followed by a bang average second half. Needs replacing with Westwood or Hendrick alongside Defour
Brady 4- looked totally off the pace
Vokes 8- made the best of absolutely dire service and a great header for his goal. Cannot believe some on here have called him out recently. Been our best player this season
Wood 6- I feel so sorry for the guy. The way he’s being asked to play in this system just doesn’t suit him, his confidence is clearly very low. A really good player there but just not happening for him.

We really need to overhaul the system entirely. It’s not been working for months now, either at the tail end of last season and this season. Take the 3 points we stole/fluked from Cardiff away and we’re bottom of the league. Not the time to be pulling the trigger but certainly very very worried tonight.

Hart 6 - Nothing to do
Lowton 5 - Frustrating crossing
Long 7 - Did well
Mee 7 - Ditto. Won’t take one off for OG
Taylor 6 - Got forward more 2nd half. Crossing needs to pose more problems
Lennon 5 - Good at getting back, but I want to see a winger whose first thought is forward. He can do it, but doesn’t.
Cork 3 - Love the guy but ****** ‘ell. Really struggling.
Defour 5 - I’d give him 3 first half. Got hold of it and tried to make something happen in the 2nd.
Brady 3 - Shine a light
Wood 5 - Had a few chances, bit dopey isn’t he
Vokes 6 - Wins headers, good goal, but I don’t think he’s good enough overall

We were unlucky with the first goal, the second is just one we wouldn’t have conceded last year. If we’d scraped a draw arguably you could say it was deservedi and we have certainly played worse this season. But we still weren’t good tonight. On the whole we’re lacking spark, urgency, creativity, pass accuracy. December is going to be big. Just don’t fancy us atm though.

Hart 5 doesn't organise what's on front of him like Heaton.
Lowton 5
Mee 5
Long 6 did a job.
Taylor 4 poor defensively and crossing was poor. Not a fan.
Lennon 5 some good defensive work but sh*t going forward yet he's supposed to be a 'winger'.
Cork 3 Rotten performance. Looked like he hadn't trained all week.
Defour 6
Brady 3 Dreadful.
Wood 4 Static with poor control
Vokes 7 some good hold up play and the goal.

Dyche 3 he's gone stale. Dinosaur tactics. Not good enough.

Didn't we score from a high ball into the box

I find it hard to rate the players tonight because we were clearly onto a loser from the start. The line up and tactics were wrong and I said as much in the kettledrum beforehand! For Dyche to pick that 11 either shows incredible naivety or incredible arrogance. It's unforgiveable to play a flat 442 these days in any guise but to play it with two big men is mind-blowing. The cracks are starting to show and we look like a team not fighting for the cause anymore.

Tonight we were as tactically inept as anything served up in Division 4. That's how bad we were, but that's not down to the players; that's on Dyche 100%. I never ever thought I'd say this but the Board has a big decision to make. We're sinking like a stone and something needs to change.

Taylor 4
Mee 4
Long 4
Cork 5
Defour 5
Brady 5
Lennon 6
Wood 4
Vokes 6

Hendrick 4
Barnes 4 (were they on long enough)

I am done moaning tonight. Every player was half a yard late for most things. That is all I will say. 5 point course of action:

1. Strip Ben of the captaincy, it is too much for him. He has been a shadow since taking it.
2. Play Vydra more and get the ball on the deck.
3. Give Heaton a chance, nothing against Hart but given goals conceded Heaton deserves a chance before Pope is fully fit.
4. Get Gudmundsson a rub down - we need him.
5. Get the pressing back.

My ratings are roughly the same as most of the above. What I would say is it's come to something when Long is voted our best player. I like him but come on....As to the Vydra enigma. It is just that.

Played some ok stuff in patches but I do agree that we were tactically outmatched tonight and SD’s reluctance to make a sub was strange - an extra 10 mins with Hendrick and Barnes could have made the ‘fine margin’ difference.

Lowton 4
Mee 6
Long 6
Taylor 5
Brady 3 school boy
Cork 6
Defour 5 (legs have gone)
Lennon 6
Vokes 7 ran his socks off
Wood 5

One looping header and 1 shot on goal and a Vokes miss.
Score line flattered us should have been 1 - 4

Hart - 6. Cant fault for either goal. And when he’s one of your more effective outfield players you know you’ve got problems
Lowton- 5
Mee- 5
Long -7
Taylor - 6. Not great but he at least is an outlet and makes some attempt to beat a man unlike either one in front of him.

Lennon - 6 better from him altho that’s no compliment.
Defour - 6 ok.ish
Cork - 4. Another poor display in this poor season. Not worthy of a place right now.
Brady - 3. Abysmal

Vokes - 6
Wood -5 cannot afford a striker who needs 5 or 6 chances to get a goal.

Defensively we are unrecognisable from last season. The sequence of events when Ritchie missed was surreal.
We continue to not stop crosses which means we continue to not deal with them.

Going forward we’re ponderous. We have 2 wingers who won’t take a man on and play 2 very similar strikers.

Whatever anyone thinks of Dyche (and I remain a firm supporter) his policy on subs has to be questioned. Bringing a sub on after 82 mins when 2-1 down in a critical game is not acceptable. There’s got to be better options than just switching wingers.

Bring in McNeill. Bring in Agyei. Give youth a chance. Almost every player should be under pressure for their shirt for the relegation battle we are now firmly in.

Another embarrassing performance. We are mid-championship level this season. The 2 m,odes of attack, either hoofball, or down the wing to cross in, are ineffective and predictable. Where's the key passes, creativity and intuition? We've gotten away with it for a while because we've been organised in defence but unfortunately that has become weak now and we are being found out every match

Hart 6 - didn't have too much to do
Lowton 5 - not like he was
Long 8* - I've been impressed with him this season in general
Mee 6 - unlucky with og
Taylor 4 - he's just not a premier league player
Defour 6 - tried but wasn't given much movement
Cork 4 - just not at it yet
Lennon 6 - yes he does do his defensive work and contrary to his haters I do think he beat a man a few times
Brady 4 - not back into it yet
Vokes 7 - did well but little support
Wood 4 - needs to be doing better with so little chances created
