Big Sam's probably out of our price range. Steve Bruce is more our level.

There's a guy at Accy who cuts the Mustard. But it's Sean Dyche for me.

Mid Season, having to utilise the squad we have and no big compensation payments necessary - we couldn't afford either if we had to pay out SD's contract - then one from Left Field to consider: Nick Daws, recently sacked at Scunthorpe, though with the proviso that he brings Andy Dawson with him as his first team coach.

BFS until end of season (his remit being to keep us up) Next season assuming they don't go up, Lamps. I know its early days but when he got the job at Derby I just had a feeling he's going to go on to great things.

Me, I once managed an under 16 team in Kent and when they trashed the changing rooms at an away match, after about 3 matches into the season, I withdrew them from the league. We lost all of those opening matches by an average of about 8-1, therefore I feel I have the experience to turn it round at Turf Moor !!

Paul Cook is an interesting shout and would be popular.
Harris at Millwall seems to be doing a great job.
Chris Wilder at Sheff U an option.

McInnes at Aberdeen would be on the radar.

Rather go down this road than the detritus that swirls around the bottom end of the Premier League.

Don`t know managers in Europe and let`s face it...won`t be anyone from outside the UK.

I would have said Dean Smith but Villa have beaten us to it. We might be able to tempt Chris Wilder at the end of the season if Sheff United don't go up.

Appears to have a 48% win record in over 160 games. Thought people were singing his praises!!!

Cook 58% (45 games) and Wilder around 50% after 71 games.

Sir Sean has a win rate of 39% (of course the slight majority of which have been in the Premier League) after 265 games. How time flies!!!!!

I was going to plump for Lampard. Could be an interesting one over the next few seasons.

When you look at things logically you have to ask who is the best person to take the club forward in a worse case scenario?

If we get relegated are there any managers out there who have a track record of getting promoted from the Championship?

Dyche has two promotions to his name.

You`re right in that regard but IF we go down this season, it will be for incredibly different reasons from the previous occasion under Dyche. I don`t think there was this sense of a `break` among the fans and there were certainly no players who seemed to have clocked out of Dyche`s way of doing things. To me, from afar, it seems like there is something wrong within the camp and influential players are simply not buying into Dyche`s ways any more. I hope I am wrong and he turns it around. If he doesn`t, for him to be successful next season in another promotion push, he would have to clear the decks in my mind and given his track record in recent transfer windows, I for one would not be confident of a return to the Top 6 in the Championship, never mind the Premier League.

I think he has lost the ear of the players.

I agree with this to be honest. If we did go down and keep Dyche we'd need to have a good clear out and freshen things up with some younger legs. Too many of the current squad are past their prime and financially set up for life. Not sure there would be the hunger for the long old slog of a tough 46 game Championshìp season, to get back to a league that most of the players probably realise is a step too far for them.

Mikey G would probably do a “Michael Knighton” to save a few quid and appoint himself as manager.

I would guess the realistic options listed on this thread (who would probably be listed on an initial bookies shortlist) are...

David Moyes
Slaviša Jokanović
Daniel Farke
Big Sam
Paul Cook
Steven Gerrard
Derek McInnes
Steve Clarke

I'd also add
Gary Monk
Steve Bruce
Nigel Pearson
Slaven Billic
Mark Warburton
Joey Barton
