Re: Dyche signed Vydra because...
I'm guessing he expected us to play a better style of football, more possession, create more chances, much as we showed against Southampton and Watford, that would have suited Vydra.
Unfortunately the wheels fell off that plan as our football has gone backwards at an alarming rate. Vydra would be a square peg in a round hole if he played in our present style.

The round pegs are failing miserably. We should use a square one perhaps.Colburn_Claret wrote:I'm guessing he expected us to play a better style of football, more possession, create more chances, much as we showed against Southampton and Watford, that would have suited Vydra.

Re: Dyche signed Vydra because...
Panic buy, maybe the next Nahki, although he came quite cheap, badly injured and contract nearly ending. Vydra cost a lot more having had a good season, decent contract length and only sl8ghtly unfit/injured.
Can't see any of them starting regularly until we are either relegated or they move on.

Re: Dyche signed Vydra because...
Considering Dyche has had seasons playing Ings and Gray I'm really surprised Vydra hasn't been given a go, much like Wells last season (although we had a team that won last year).
Surely now is the time to mix it up with the front line. We know if he does change the defence they will just play to the system, as we see with Long. But up front we are crying out for someone who can out run a defence. In my opinion Vydra should be starting, tire the defences and let Vokes, Barnes or Wood (whoever he didn't start with) come on to out-muscle them... But what do I know haha

Vydra feeds off a supply line, ours has been missing most of the season. The reasons why are many, but regardless of the reason, playing him to run around after fresh air is pointless.JTClaret wrote:Considering Dyche has had seasons playing Ings and Gray I'm really surprised Vydra hasn't been given a go, much like Wells last season (although we had a team that won last year).

The question of who we play up front is moot until we sort out the sorry mess in midfield, that impacts so heavily on the defence.

Re: Dyche signed Vydra because...
I think he bought him because he was given some money to spend but it wasn't enough to get who he wanted so he just spent it like councils do before they get cuts the next year.
The answer to the question as to why he isn't using him is hidden within the depths of Dyches mind because to most of us fans he would be a fair enough addition up front either as number 10 or as an out and out striker.
I don't think our style of play is the reason because currently we don't actually have one.

Top goal scorer in the Championship last season - why wouldn't you sign him ?
Answers on a postcard please Mr Dyche
Colburn reckons he needs a supply line that we haven't got and he is certainly right there
In which case why sign him in the first place

A panic buy. He's still the man for the job in my eyes but I feel he has a hidden tendency to sometimes recruit players almost in a panic, I just think this is one of his weaknesses. Without trying to critisise him too much I really do think the Appointment of the Technical Manager (or whatever it's called) will be of big benefit to Sean and the team, I also think that Mike Garlic has recognised this and acted accordingly.

Because Leeds said he was fat and we could have him.

Re: Dyche signed Vydra because...
Probably because we needed a proper number 10 instead of Jeff Hendrick.
Why isn't he playing him? **** knows.

He went out on the lash and instead of ordering Tequila he ordered a Vydra

Re: Dyche signed Vydra because...
We should only be playing with one up front with our lack of midfield bite. The signing was and is a complete waste of money and wages.
4411 and 442 is a complete waste with our useless midfield and the route one football our manager employs.
The lad wouldn't get much chance to prove himself with the ball flying over his head

The Tech Director should be of good use when identifying potential players to improve the starting 11 but, only so long as SD is in agreement with any such signings - they have to be singing from the same hymn sheetbeddie wrote:A panic buy. In the last 6 years SD has almost always played 442 changing occasionally to 451 (a "back three" or "holding midfield players" are almost alien to him). He clearly favours the hoof/direct/long ball approach and, given the likes of Barnes, Vokes and Wood are all contracted for the next 2.5 years, that's suggests unlikely to change
Can a Tech Director get SD to change if he has identified different types of players/systems (inc maybe Vydra) or does SD persist with his own approach
Re: Dyche signed Vydra because...
....he thought he could make him less of an attacking threat and thought he would go backwards more than forwards. In seriousness we probably don't play to his strengths but then again we aren't getting the correct balls in the box for the 2 big lumps up front.

Vydra will be used and will perform well for us, no problem.

Re: Dyche signed Vydra because...
Correct. Midfield is a big problem. Too slow, too weak physically and not creative enough.Colburn_Claret wrote:Vydra feeds off a supply line, ours has been missing most of the season. The reasons why are many, but regardless of the reason, playing him to run around after fresh air is pointless.

We are not getting the right balls in and when we do too slowly. The big guys can't move around the line quickly so need quick ball.Blackrod wrote:....he thought he could make him less of an attacking threat and thought he would go backwards more than forwards. Did Mr D sign him, or was he signed by the Board, as a last minute effort to salvage something from an empty Summer?
