I'm very much in with the " In " crowd !!

I note we have 4,068 Users on this Forum, and I seem to recall that on signing up, we had to give a date of birth ! If CT and the other Mod's had the software, it would be interesting to see the age profiles of the " In " and " Out " brigades ! I realise " perspective " is a dirty word to some on here but hey-ho ..

At the time of the " Casper Out " chants, if someone had said we'd have a brand new Training Ground, a 21,300 capacity all seater stadium, have £ 40 - £45 m. in the bank, had 3 rounds of European ties and be in our 4th season out of the last 5 in the top flight ( having gone up as Champions ) , the laughter would have echoed round every four-ale bar between Blackpool and Leeds .... Dyche has always said this was a long term project, the building blocks are in place, so keep the faith !

For any doubters, see Club's who've replaced managers who've " taken them as far as they can " eg: BFS at Blackburn and Curbishley at Charlton !!

A bloody good manager. Of course we want him to stay. He makes mistakes but doesn’t everyone. He just has the right attitude and this is passed on to the players. Whether we get new players in January or not, the team will be doing the best they can because of Dyche.

Stay, of course.
He'd be the first to say, he's still learning. The football isn't good just now.
Personally like to see him loosen up with his approach on the pitch. Particularly trying to change games with subs.
I'm not a manager though.
He is.

The quick-fix FEW making lots of noise, wanting him gone are wrong.

Unbelievable that we're even having to post this. IMHO not only is Sean the best manager we've had in my lifetime - that includes Mr Potts - but it's highly likely that he's the best we will attract (within our budget realities) now and probably in future too. Some very short memories and delusional fans in our midst I'm afraid. The big fella can have the job as long as he wants it for me. Just my opinion of course UTC

I guess if you've only been watching the Clarets a few years, you're not used to seeing the side struggle a little and find any kind of perspective difficult : look at the bigger picture or the long game - no pun intended - if we are to be a yo-yo club so be it. If we are relegated at the end of the season, Dyche is the manger we'll need. If we're not relegated, and the odds are well and truly stacked against us as always, the bloke's a genius.

Harry Potts would be spinning in his grave if he knew of the current excuse for football being served up at Turf Moor.

The way Dyche utilises Defour is like Potts asking Jimmy Mac to play alongside Adamson, Cummings & Miller at the back.

I’m not sure the question mark around the manager’s position is actually a ‘thing’ in reality.

I certainly don’t know anyone of that persuasion in the real world. Probably best not rising to it.

There is this question.

There is the question of the next transfer window. Will be difficult given the current predicament and it's January.

The big question is who would replace Dyche. A number of posters think his time is up yet don't say who they would replace him with.

Be careful what you wish for.

He has done far too much good, which is way beyond anything anyone could have thought possible at this club, so to suggest we kick him out is just not right. He's still well in credit in my eyes. Plus, he's still learning, and I am confident in time he will turn it around.

Dyche is such a great fit for Burnley, I just can't see anyone else being right for us as it stands.

Up The Clarets with Sean at the helm.

To be perfectly honest I really enjoyed the Championship far more than the Premier league. Clubs with our finsnces and gates will never truly be able to compete in the Premier.Would much rather be fighting for promotion at the top of the Championship.Yes a yo yo club I suppose and SD is the best manager for BFC.

I still don't get this it's time for him to leave.

Sadly some posters (I won't call them fans) don't and can't engage their brain.

Right, let's pay off Dyche and his team, say £5m and then replace him with who exactly? I haven't seen one decent name mentioned yet. All of the bottom 3 changed their managers last season. That worked well didn't it. How many managers did Swansea and WBA use last season? 5 or 6.

Change doesn't guarantee success.

If we were to change and it didn't work out it would be the same posters slagging the club off for getting rid of Dyche.

Absolutely, 100% behind the best manager I have seen in my 30 years of supporting Burnley.

What SD has delivered in his 6 years with us is beyond most dreams (ok, maybe Leicester could pip it ;) ) I always say it's the long term you should look at not whether we win a couple or lose a couple. Some fans on here, and near me at the games, seem to think we should be winning every game we play. I began this season with "let's stop up" again despite the amazing finish last season. This isn't because I'm negative or aiming too low, it's because I'm a realist in terms of where we sit with the other PL teams.

None of us know how hard it is to manage a PL team. Some just think a "play Vydra" answers all problems - don't you think if it was that simple, someone as good as SD, would make the change? Every game is different. Each opposition has different threats/weaknesses. Our own players may be having poor training weeks. SD will analyse all of this in far greater detail than any of us could and he puts out a team he thinks will have the best chance of getting a positive result.

If you look at his overall record then he has been correct far more than he's been wrong.

I truly hope we are all having this stay or go argument in another 5 years as it means we have had SD in charge for another 5 years.

I've been fully behind Sean this season. I've laughed off the calls for his head over the last few months but Monday was worrying. We look like a team devoid of confidence and purpose. We don't look like a Sean Dyche side at the moment.

We've won 2 games in 90 minutes since the middle April. 2 in 24 I believe it is and looking at our next half a dozen fixtures it won't be a surprise if that turns into 2 in 30. There's clearly something not working at the moment and nobody really knows the answer but how long do we carry on regardless? That's the big question.

If things carry on in the same way we'll basically sleepwalk back into the Championship. I don't want Sean to go but football moves on and there's no room for sentiment once you start spiralling out of control.

If the Board decides we need a change then it'll divide opinion but it could ultimately be the best option. It's a bit like Brexit. Nobody really knows what would happen. Soms will say it'll end in disaster but nobody can be certain of that.

That's true, but when you look at how many clubs have changed manager because it wasn't working out, the vast majority end up only going one way.

A prime example are Rovers. Didn't like the style of BFS......and the rest is history.

Another recent example - Ipswich.

I admit I have contributed to other threads which talk of life after SD and have even speculated about possible successors, but that doesn't mean it's what I want or what I believe should happen. SD has given me the best years and taken us to the highest level I've ever known in 45 years watching Burnley and I still believe if anyone is going to turn this gloomy situation around it's him. He knows the players, he knows the club, he knows the board and most importantly he knows the issues which need sorting better than anybody else. AND if the worst comes to the worst he's the best manager around to take a team up from the Championship. Having said that he's not beyond debate/informed criticism from people who pay good money, actually watch games and have valid, sensible opinions. E.G. It really isn't surprising that virtually everybody is querying his use of substitutions. This part of his game has always been slightly odd to say the least, but on Monday it pretty much reached new heights and the situation re Vydra in particular is bound to get people talking. People don't even notice or comment on these things when we're winning, but it's only natural that they will when things aren't going well. Ultimately some of the recent criticism is knee jerk bobbins, but some is genuine and valid debate.
(And for what it's worth, I may be in a minority, but I thought we played fairly well on Monday compared to other games and with better crossing, which was utter garbage and clinical finishing we'd have got the point we deserved and possibly more.)

All managers eventually reach their 'level of ability'. Imo SD is a PL bottom 6 / Championship top 6 manager. That would result us being a yo-yo club between the PL and Championship. As being a yo-yo club is always 'interesting' I think he should stay with the proviso that he continues to develop his attacking coaching skills or appoints an assistant head coach who already has this ability.

I think the problem with the "yo,yo club" scenario these days is that it's far, far harder to predict the Championship and to actually spend a few bob and be fairly confident of being in the top two. The clubs there are huge, many of them spend pretty big and the competition is very stiff. It's far more of a lottery these days with about 17 big clubs quite capable of challenging in any given year.

That's why, at the very least, we have a manager with a proven track record of getting promoted. A new manager would be a risk in that respect.

Sorry, I cannot agree at all, suggesting bottom six reflects his managerial abilities seems harsh.
He has ex championship players and some with prem experience, but no longer in their prime.
He has dealt with severe injuries to the goalkeepers and other key injuries.

Dyche can't be compared to the managers with limitless funds at their disposal, he is working on a pittance by contrast.
Really surprised that you regard him as some kind of journeyman manager, who somehow falls short.

Dyche insists on surrounding himself with players like that though? No foreigners, no youngsters just a squad full of journeymen pros who'll say yes Sean, no Sean 3 bags full Sean.

It's a slow development project which, if given the time, I'm sure SD will deliver. Even though we are financially stable we aren't in a position to chuck money at it like Wolves and Fulham have done. We just have to be patient.

JBG had already been playing in this country though. He's clearly reluctant to sign players from abroad for some reason. His policy of buying British has served us well but I feel it's got us as far as it can go now. Hopefully Rigg has the expertise and Dyche the willingness to spread our wings a little.

If Dyche is hounded out by the fans it will be the worst decision as a fanbase we have ever made.

How on Earth do you replace him? Different clubs/time-spans but he is literally our Alex Ferguson/Arsene Wenger in terms of being a total figurehead for the club and it's infrastructure and for the success achieved (which is totally comparable to the afore mentioned, but in relative terms for a club of our size with the resources available).

This is a terrible period we are in, the football is awful, the squad do not look up for it or good enough in some cases - and Dyche is responsible for getting a tune out of them. Would I want anyone else at the helm trying to fix the issues we have though? Absolutely not. As I have said on other threads, Dyche has more than enough credit in the bank with me to take us down and try and bring us back up. He has earned that at the very, very least.

As my Blackburn supporting friend has said to me, we should be very careful what we wish for.

They hounded Allardyce out of the club, and promptly sank like a stone.

Stay Another Day

Baby if you've got to go away
I don't think
I can take the pain
Won't you stay another day
Oh don't leave me alone like this
Don't say it's the final kiss
Won't you stay another day
Don't you know
We've come too far now
Just to go
And try to throw it all away
Thought I heard you say
You love me
That your love was gonna be here to stay
I've only just begun
To know you
All I can say is
Won't you stay just one more day
Baby if you've got to go away
I don't think
I can take the pain
Won't you stay another day
Oh don't leave me alone like this
Don't say it's the final kiss
Won't you stay another day
I touch your face while you are sleeping
And hold etc etc

We are in trouble now
We need a manager with a track record of keeping Burnley in the Premier league
Top Candidate Sean Dyche 66.67%

If we do go down
We need a Manager with a track record for getting Burnley promoted from the Championship into the premier League
Top Candidate
All Seasons Sean Dyche 66.67%
Full seasons Sean Dyche 100%

Mala591 wrote:All managers eventually reach their 'level of ability'.
So what you are saying is that with Sean Dyche as manager, Burnley's position is at the same level as (currently) Huddersfield, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Cardiff, Fulham, Norwich, Leeds, Middlesbrough, West Brom, Sheff United, Notts Forest. And when you consider the extra financial input those clubs get, both from fans and from owners, to say that is the position we belong in is a terrific compliment to Sean Dyche.

And on that basis, he can stay without provisos.
