Hart - 5 - Had nothing to do except make quite a few high ball claims, which he didn’t as he is an absolute vampire.
Bardsley - 9 - Set the tone, again. Has been crucial to this resurgence, MOM for me.
Mee - 8
Tarky - 8
Taylor - 5 - I just don’t see it with him, sorry. Terrible crosser of a ball and looks weak and slow. Not convinced he will ever be good enough. Past it or not, Ward straight back in when fit, for me.
JBG - 7
Westwood - 7
Cork - 7
Brady - 8
Barnes - 7
Wood - 5 - Looks a bit out of his depth currently, in my opinion. I think it’s getting to the time you have to change it with him.

Hart 6 - Spilled a couple of catches, but to be fair the conditions were horrible. Didn't have much to do.
Bardsley 7 - Some crunching tackles and he seems to pop up just when the team are lacking with something to get them motivated again.
Tarkowski 7 - Very very solid. Dealt with everything that come his way and looked a threat on set pieces. They doubled up on him second half.
Mee 7 - Again a couple of shaky moments, but really threw himself around. Starting to look more like the Mee of old every week.
Taylor 6 - Couple of poor balls, but also a couple of excellent crosses. At least he was getting forward. Did some good cover work for me too first half.
JBG 7 - First half almost everything went through him. Seemed to be the most likely creator of us getting a goal. Gave their left-back hell. Shame he got injured.
Cork 5 - Looked like he was chasing shadows again today for me. Just not that sharpness that seemed to be there against Liverpool.
Westwood 6 - Worked hard, but again not massively effective. Did seem to give our defence some good cover when we were under pressure.
Brady 8* - Put himself about well. Nipped in on a few loose passes and created something from pretty much all of them. Nice to see him also getting back to his good form.
Wood 5 - He did work hard, I don't think we can fault his effort, but nothing he does comes off and he really doesn't look sharp enough.
Barnes 6 - Started well, but then seemed to fizzle out. Spent more time deep, trying to support the midfield than making his usual nuisance of himself against the defenders.

Lennon 4 - Some really poor passing. Including right near the death, when we were under pressure and he gave it away at a crucial moment.
Hendrick - not enough time to rate him.

Hart 6. Probably his worse game but kept a clean sheet. Was clever with the time wasting though (after they had done it at 0-0) and showed real passion
Bardsley 8. Solid again. Passionate again. Tough again. If all 11 play with that mentality we will be fine.
Taylor 7. Steady away.
Mee 8. Thought he was class at times. Even on the ball.
Tarkowski 8. Also back to his old self. And vital goal.
Brady 7. Has a great touch and gives us a totally different outlet. Growing with each game.
JBG 7. Took it to them a few times but did lack support that Lowton offers. Should have shot a few times but passed.
Westwood 6. Unspectacular and at times overrun.
Cork 6. See Westwood.
Wood 5. Not his best game.
Barnes 5. See Wood.

Dyche 8. Stuck with the team that deserved it. Made the right subs at the right time. But should have brought Vokes on for Wood. Both to hold it and defend the corners.

Back to something like last year's performances. Still looked light weight going forward. But solid at the back.
Oh and on that showing we dodge a bullet with Andone.

Drab game with little created but also few chances conceded too.
Brighton were toothless in the final third and decided to time waste from the first minute which was really bizarre.
Any of Mee, Tarkowski or Bardsley for MOTM. The rest of the team were a much of a muchness, average across the pitch.
Nice to finally get another 3 points on the board though, we can only get better.

I know it’s all about opinions but I am gobsmacked that people are distinguishing between Barnes and Wood today and especially by the extremes of more than a point difference. I didn’t think either were particularly great and I had them both at a hardworking 6 (average) where neither really produced any real quality on the ball or threat but together they linked up was ok and lead the line from a defensive point well.

Anyway
Hart 7 very little to do but did what he needed to well

Mee and Tarkowski stand-out - Bardsley on a similar level.

First time this season I can recall where both CBs have played well individually and as a unit - plus Cork/Westwood provided an effective screen.

A strong Mee/Tarkowski partnership is the key to getting our season back on track as it should keep us competitive in most games - especially as we still offer very little in the attacking third.

Hart 5 - dreadful. Almost handed them a goal in the first half and his handling in the second half was embarrassing.
Bardsley 7 - solid, gives us an edge
Tarkowski 8 - kept andone and Murray quiet
Mee 8 - see tarky
Taylor 7 - a few decent runs forward. Needed a bit more support from Brady.
JBG 6 - is he carrying a knock?
Cork 7 - broke up the play and did well overall
Westwood 7 - moves the ball well and tries to get us ticking
Brady 5 - anonymous first half followed by a better second
Wood 4 - I can't give a 3 when we won the match. He's just miles off the pace. Awful and should have been subbed instead of Barnes.
Barnes 6 - work rate was immense. As soon as he went off we just couldn't get out of our half. Basically played as the no. 10 and the lone striker.

Bardsley 8 love this guy, just what the team needs in a relegation scrap as is barnes

hart - 6 looks like a decent save at the death but otherwise very little to trouble him. awful conditions for s keeper, he's not going to be coming far off his line when its like that.

bardsley - 7 added some real bite and should have been awarded a penalty, another blatant one ignored

tarkowski - 7 unlucky not to have 2, his 2nd half header was a whisker away

mee - 8 the mee of old

taylor - 7 another good showing

cork - 6 difficult day, needs defour back alongside him

westwood - 5 not defour

gudmundsson - 7 hope he's not out for long

brady - 7 miles better than his shocker v newcastle. would have been nice to see him have a pop when we were 3 on 3 instead of playing in barnes.

wood - 4 vokes please

barnes - 5 only him having a knock saved wood's skin

much more like the burnley of last season in abysmal conditions and in the end it was a deserved win against a poor brighton team who offered practically zero to the game apart from timewasting.

when your tactics don't go any further than having your keeper waste time from the first minute, you get exactly what you deserve - sod all. always nice to put their dirge to bed for anther season.

Some signs that we are slowly turning the corner, but still prone to silly mistakes. Cork and Westwood did some good stuff in the first half, but were really wasteful in the second.
So many misplaced headers, we never seem to find a team mate with a headed clearance, always hit and hope.
Chris Wood still struggling, but he's clearly trying, at least he took a couple of long ones on today, so he hasn't given up yet. Biggest problem now, apart from the goals, is he doesn't seem to have a good partnership with Barnes.
Joe had another good game, but it's becoming clear we need a keeper that can command his area, especially with all the stupid free kicks we give away. The sooner we get Nick back the better..

Massive 3 points, and you could see what it meant to the lads at the end. Well done on that, need to keep improving though.

Back to our expected levels of grit and resilience, as epitomised by Hendrick’s tackle at the end with him and Brady both fired up. In hindsight Barnes and Bardsley’s absence was bizarre given the fire in the belly both give us now they are back. Hart and Bardsley the last two to leave the pitch after such a crucial game - the two with Premier League medals, it can’t be a coincidence. Even for little old Burnley, they still want it, which is impressive.

Both Wood and Taylor continue to struggle, Taylor’s constant inviting of the wing back inside almost cost us like it did at Palace. Both have work to do to prove they can cut it at this level.

The goal came from our best dribble and a clever time to accept the foul at the end of it. We need more moments like that one.

So, a good day, offering hope that whatever has gone on behind the scenes, and there will be plenty, is behind them.

Oh, our summer target, Florin Andone, was he playing? I cannot remember.

Hart 5 when the pressure needed taking off, he didn't.. also had a few aimless kicks and turned over possession when there was no real need.
Bardsley 7 did well defensively
Tarkowski 8 MIM
Mee 7 a few iffy moments but did well.
Taylor 6
JBG 7
Westwood 6
Cork 6
Brady 6
Barnes 6
Wood 5 looks on his heels all the time. Offside again, when we got in a decent position. Really needs a goal.

We didn't create much in terms of chances, but we did what was needed, and 3 points is all that matters.
We still seem very slow in our build up, and thought the first half continued to play the long balls into channels, it brought us no joy at all.

Thank goodness Duffy and Murray were not available to start, as I think it'd have been a lot different.

Park this and if we can get 7 points from the next 5 games, it'll certainly be game on.

Can’t believe some of these marks for Wood.

Just the one pass completed in the last third of today’s game. 8 passes completed all game. 43% success rate.

Absolutely not good enough.

Hart 6
Bardsley 7
Taylor 7
Mee 7
Tarks 7
Westwood 8* Did all of Cork’s work as well as his own
Cork 5 For all those scoring Westwood lower, just watch the game. Cork caught being lazy so often, Westwood covers him, and still leads the high press. His desire to get the ball forward compared to Cork is also overlooked.
JBG 6
Brady 7
Barnes 7
Wood 4 He is useless. I watched him closely. His movement is atrocious

Lennon 6
Hendrick 8 An unbelievable cameo. His tackle in the LW position was almost as exciting as the goal!! If he can do that sort of thing for a good portion of a game, he has to replace Cork

Dyche 6 Would have easily been a 7/8, but playing Wood and Cork again is bonkers. Doesn’t matter if we won, those 2 are being carried at the moment. The decision to leave Wood on, I can only imagine, is to try and give the boy confidence. TBH, I don’t think we have the luxury of waiting...

Hart 6 NEVER LEAVES HIS LINE!!!! - Leaving EVERY cross for Mee and Tarks is suicide!
Bardsley 8 Continued his 'rebirth' brilliantly
Tarkowski 9 Totally dominant
Mee 8
Taylor 8
Gudmundsson 7
Westwood 6
Cork 6
Brady 8
Barnes 8
Wood 5 Goodness, this man is awful. Such a weak link.

Subs:
Lennon (for injured JBG) 7
Hendrick HIs tackle in the 94th minute will live long in my memory
