So far, it's been basically statements of the bleeding obvious. Don't overpay for players, don't trust agents.

I'm not sure we need to be more concerned then normal about transfers in windows after Wed and Sat, apart from what SD needs re injuries etc.ClaretAndJew wrote:I meant transfer window. I thought it would have been obvious but I misjudged.
Re: Mike Rigg taking questions on BBC Lancs at 6pm
Really good listen this was.
MR was blown away by the culture of the club within the world class facilities at Barnfield, that has been his first impression having been in situ for only 6 days.
SD gets to have the final say on any signings coming into the building unlike one or two other clubs, SD and MG were stated as being fully aligned in how the club should move forward.
No one will be surprised to hear that there will not be a lot of incomings in Jan, quality over quantity and rightly so but there are a plethora of reasons why players may not sign, there's only so much the club can do was the message but the facilities we have, will help no end.

Michael Bradley is Bob Bradley's son.ClaretTony wrote:Isn't he the son of the clown who helped mess up Swansea?
He's a solid player, not world beater, but 6ft 1' and an improvement on Westwood and Hendrick.
Played for Roma, Chievo and Borussia Monchengladbach in Europe.
142 apps for the US National team.

Vela has only just gone to the MLS.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote:So you're saying that Sebastian Giovinco, Carlos Vela or Giovanni Dos Santos aren't better than any of our players then because they play in the MLS?

Dos Santos hardly pulled up any trees in Europe and he's been in the US a few years now.
Giovinco - don't know much about him, but it appears he's another who's been over there a few years.
Vela is the only one worth considering but that's at a push, because 54 league goals in Spain across 4 seasons/184 games is hardly any better than anyone we've got.

Bradley is going downhill fast. Not for me.
Unlikely to be a foreigner in the MLS as they're all after residency, which they'd forfeit if they left.

Bradley earns ~ £100k a week in the MLS, 2nd highest paid player in the league https://mlsplayers.org/resources/salary-guide" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
When I saw Toronto he looked a cut above most of the other players (but that isn't saying much as one of those other players was Jozy Altidore).

As I've said before, I think the Jan transfer window will be the difference between us going down and staying up. So I hope 'not be a lot' doesn't equate to 0 and is closer to 2.bodge wrote:No one will be surprised to hear that there will not be a lot of incomings in Jan, quality over quantity and rightly so but there are a plethora of reasons why players may not sign, there's only so much the club can do was the message but the facilities we have, will help no end.

He could come on loan after the end of the MLS season.
Happened before with Keane and guy who Everton signed

Re: Mike Rigg taking questions on BBC Lancs at 6pm
I'd imagine it would be one of those deals where he comes for a few months in the MLS close season (it finished last week I think) or till the end of our season.
Re: Mike Rigg taking questions on BBC Lancs at 6pm
As the club prides itself on possible signings not getting in the public domain how come this one seems to be widely known?

For those who didn't hear the Q and A, where has this talk of an MLS player come from? What context is there behind it? Did he say "We are signing an MLS player in January" or some such?

Re: Mike Rigg taking questions on BBC Lancs at 6pm
The context was that Agents shouldn’t be a way of identifying talent as they are unreliable and self motivated and he added context by that to say we have been offered a MLS player for £20m and Rigg said email me the details and when the email came through the price had already changed to $12mjedi_master wrote:For those who didn't hear the Q and A, where has this talk of an MLS player come from? Nothing in what I listened to said we were interested just shared an example.
Great to listen to the openness of it
Re: Mike Rigg taking questions on BBC Lancs at 6pm
A £20 million 'quality range' energetic, hard tackling, central midfield player might just be enough to keep us up. Definitely won't be easy to find and sign in January but imo that should be Mike Rigg's no.1 priority.

Be interesting if anything comes out via tw itter or a local paper ( Not ours obviously ) reports a player being watched by Rigg/Burnley.
On a side note it was nice to hear we are looking at players in the under 22 year old bracket, it's the only way we can sustain ourselves in this league IM0

Yes as Im sure we will look at buying 11, untried and untested under 22 year olds and throw them straight in...Chip Harrison wrote:That's all we need to stay up. Untried, untested 22 year olds.
I think the professional means, looking for rough diamonds or young keen players we can develop and either sell them for larger fees or become established players with us.
Kind of like the likes of Brooks, Wilson, King etc at Bournemouth.
Signing seasoned pros at 28+ for large fees to fight for 17th isn't sustainable long term for a club like ours.
It was refreshing to hear the club's future plans on recruitment, but I suppose you can't please all, even when you were as open and honest as Rigg was...
