Labour MP Guilty And Could Be Jailed
Fiona Onasanya Labour MP for Peterborough has been suspended from the Labour Party for perverting the course of justice. Another of Corbyn's harem, another solicitor. I guess that if you put yourself on a pedestal you really should stay within the laws of the land and never, ever kid yourself that you are above all that stuff. Just who can we, the people of the UK trust? Certainly not the legal profession nor many MPs if she is an example of those professions. Thereby not the people who run the UK. I am no Tory supporter but certain biased people on here aren't slow to post when a Tory has 'strayed'.

Re: Labour MP Guilty And Could Be Jailed
I can't see how she can remain an MP,whether she is jailed or not,in her defence she claimed she was suffering from an MS relapse, while being pursued for the NIP fair enough, but why lie about who was driving when she would have only received 3 points on her licence.
Makes for an intriguing by-election assuming one is held soon, the Conservatives will be confident of gaining the seat she only had a majority of 600 or so.

Re: Labour MP Guilty And Could Be Jailed
A very bad decision to not come clean about who was driving. Nobody of good judgement would contemplate risking all that she did just to avoid a speeding charge. Couldnt even come up with a decent "this other person was driving" story- the guy she nominated wasnt even in the country.
I hope she gets some jail time otherwise even more MPs will be thinking they're above the law.
Chris Huhne and his Mrs got 8 months apiece a few years ago when he persuaded her to "take the rap" for him speeding and then got found out. This case seems worse to me with her being a solicitor and telling a bigger trail of lies.

I would imagine that he is referring to Corbyn calling May a stupid woman then denying it, hence the lie.
The ‘w’ and ‘p’ sounds are made totally differently with the mouth so it is fairly obvious he didn’t say ‘people’.

That is true about the w and p sounds - IF you properly pronounce them. But muttered? Not so much.

Out of interest, if it had been The other way round would you have been as quick to jump to May’s defence? I doubt that somehow.

Absolutely it's a small matter. A tiny one. Which is why it's odd that you refuse to accept even the possibility that you might be wrong. Maybe he did say "stupid woman", in which case he deserves criticism. But you have to be ultra-partisan and incapable of objectivity to not see it's plausible that he said something else.dermotdermot wrote:You’re getting your tits in a tangle again IT. Got to say it does look like he said "woman". However, I don't remember the same outcry when Hammond said exactly the same about Andrea Jenkyns back in July?! At the end of the day both the BBC and Sky will use this to batter Corbyn and distract everyone away from the shambles that is the Tory party at this point in time.
I can assure you I have much stronger words to describe the heartless May.

You probably think you're making a hilarious point but when have I ever demonstrated a lack of objectivity? Find one time where my argument hasn't been purely based on the facts.

Another MP found guilty of lying?
Hardly a shock, political affiliation shouldn't matter in this case, just throw the book at her and move on.

Re: Labour MP Guilty And Could Be Jailed
I'm not sure what Corbyn's alleged comment has to do with this thread.
Being found guilty of perverting the course of justice should result in an immediate prison sentence. She has already been suspended by the Labour Party and as a solicitor, presumably she will be struck off the solicitors register by the solicitors disciplinary body. Not a good day for someone who had stated her ambition to become prime minister one day.

A whole career in ruins because of 3 penalty points. You just cannot credit it. The only explanation is that she probably felt that she was untouchable, able to do anything she wanted. Either that or she is just profoundly stupid.
Re: Labour MP Guilty And Could Be Jailed
With regard to Corbyn, both my wife and I watch this on TV a couple of times and whilst we agreed that he seemed to say stupid we could not make out what the second word was. Well done those who were absolutely positive it was woman. Neither my wife nor I are members of a political party.
With regard to the Peterborough MP she could still, technically, remain an MP depending on the type and length of penalty. This needs to change.
