He's finished and the sooner he stops at that level the better for his future year health.

Re: MURRAY- AUSSIE OPEN
A set down. 6-4
Misses a break point to go 5-3 up.
Loses next game, then Bautista-Agut serves out.
He just can't do the long rallies anymore.
Sad really.

Re: MURRAY- AUSSIE OPEN
So far we've got Katie Boulter and Dan Evans into round two. There a realistic chance that the players who knock them out in round two go on to win their tournaments. (Sabalenka and Federer)
We've lost, Kyle Edmund to Berdych, Heather Watson to Martic, Harriet Dart to Sharapova (double bagel, ouch)
Murray and Norrie playing now, though both are 2 sets down, and Konta to play tomorrow.

It's a little sad to see Andy struggling.
Still, he's up there amongst Britains all time great sportsman.

Re: MURRAY- AUSSIE OPEN
The drop shot attempts are coming out now. They were a staple of Murray's early career before he reached super-human fitness and needed to shorten points because of tiredness.

But at 4-3 down in the 3rd, he found something, and showed just how good a player he's been.
Some brilliant tennis.
Guess he's earned it to choose when he ends his career.

That stop volley. The hips might be gone but those shots never leave you. Pure class.

All over.
Superb effort.
Given me some of my greatest sporting memories.
He's getting a hell of a send off by the Aussie crowds too.

A shoe-in for life-time achievement at SPOTY at some point in the future.
Re: MURRAY- AUSSIE OPEN
I don't think this was his last match. He'd have been in tears during that interview if it was.
He'll be back.
He'll be back.

Re: MURRAY- AUSSIE OPEN
I'll never relate more to a piece of commentary than when Henman (i think) said "i feel sick" when Djokovic came from 40-0 down in the final game of that Wimbledon final.

Re: MURRAY- AUSSIE OPEN
Sorry to derail the Murray love-in but I don’t agree with him doing that, although I already think that’s his plan, hence the announcement.dsr wrote:Possibly take a few months off and come back for a last Wimbledon?
To play at Wimbledon where he is unlikely to get past the first round just to get a send-off, making it a media circus around him and in doing so denying someone else the chance of playing is very egotistical of him.
Re: MURRAY- AUSSIE OPEN
It's a fair point. But on the other hand, what do the public want to see? Murray's last hurrah, or the world number 128?TheFamilyCat wrote:Sorry to derail the Murray love-in but I don’t agree with him doing that, although I already think that’s his plan, hence the announcement.

They’re a rum bunch if they want to see him hobble around the court in agony before eventually losing to a virtual nobody.dsr wrote:It's a fair point. But on the other hand, what do the public want to see? Murray's last hurrah, or the world number 128?
