Re: Joe Jackson
Hello Steve... Yes I saw Joe Jackson live in about 1982/1983 at Hammersmith Odeon, he was pretty big then..it’s a while ago but I remember it as a good gig.
I liked ‘its different for girls’.

Re: Joe Jackson
One of my favourite artists when he first started out. Like a lot of artists he had an early creative burst and his first 2 albums were released within 12 months of each other. They sound very similar and I always felt that most of the songs from the second album were written at the same time as his first album.
His 3rd album 'Beat Crazy' in 1980 was bit of a departure and is the archetypal 'difficult third album'. There weren't any hit singles on it and it didn't sell as well. I think it's his best album but I'm very much in the minority on that one. You got the feeling he got fed up of the conventional band format and he split up his original band after 'Beat Crazy' except for the bass player Graham Maby who's still with him now I believe.
I saw them on the Beat Crazy tour in 1980 at Nottingham Rock City. The gig was filmed for a TV programme called 'Rockstage' by ATV. There's footage of the band performing 'Fit' on Youtube.

Re: Joe Jackson
Just saw this thread and had to log on.
Saw Joe Jackson at Manchester in my student days in 1978/79 - great concert with about 300 people tops.
Loved a lot of his early stuff and still have Look Sharp on vinyl.
It's different for girls;
Is she really going out with him;
Fools in Love;
Steppin' out etc
The sadly missed Tony Wilson was boppin away and we exchanged a few words. After that it was always "How's your mate Tony doing"
