Did Taylor feel that he had to give the 94th minute Penalty?
So that he could get off the pitch safely?
Still totally incensed about the Barnes booking for a blatant penalty!

I was convinced we were getting nothing from that ref today and left 2 minutes into injury time, so missed the pen.
Cannot speak as I lost my voice screaming at the shocking ref

Me too. I can fully understand Ash's response! I'd have been given a straight RED !Lowbankclaret wrote:Cannot speak as I lost my voice screaming at the shocking ref

Yea I know along with the hundreds of others who all thought it was a pen to Saints and small roar convinced people Saints had gone 2 up.
Was only the announcer that cleared it up.

I haven't seen it, but apparently it was the most blatant of handballs. That being the case even a ref on the take couldn't not give it without being sussed out. (not saying the ref was on the take before any weird internet lawyers come out of their slimy shells)

Ash was going mental at the liner, I think I would have been sent off too.

Fair play to Barnes for tucking it away.
Some pressure on it given the circumstances.

Ashley Barnes doesn't feel pressure. Pressure feels Ashley Barnes.

One of my first thoughts after celebrating the goal was how many doctors on call, people starting work at at half five, traffic beaters etc missed it!

Taylor has history of evening it up, Swansea away, Burnley pen when replays show it was Vokes who actually handballed, 90 something minute he ignores Llorente going through Mee in the air for their winner. Cue the dancing idiot.
Re: Did Taylor feel that he had to give the 94th minute Penalty?
It was a clear handball, no evening it up involved. The first 45 minutes was the worst display of refereeing I’ve seen at the Turf for a long, long time.claret wizard wrote:Taylor has history of evening it up, Swansea away, Burnley pen when replays show it was Vokes who actually handballed, 90 something minute he ignores Llorente going through Mee in the air for their winner. Re: Did Taylor feel that he had to give the 94th minute Penalty?
Yes he did feel he needed to give it.
The first one (that he didn't give) was one of those where he (Barnes) could have stayed on his feet, but it was a penalty.

If he plants his foot and stays on his feet he could end up being injured, if he tries to hurdle him and again stays on his feet it is a penalty as the keeper impedes him.Bin Ont Turf wrote:Yes he did feel he needed to give it.

Contact doesn't mean a penalty just like no contact doesn't mean one shouldn't be awarded.
Once to keeper comes out and misses the ball it is a penalty.
Stonewall penalty in my opinion.

Re: Did Taylor feel that he had to give the 94th minute Penalty?
He could have got away without giving the 2nd pen for handball by claiming ball to hand, but the 1st one was 100% and if he and his lino dont get reprimanded for that then VAR needs to come in now.

On seeing Match o't Day I've changed my mind.
The way Barnes' legs were when their goalkeeper went into him, he could not have stayed on his feet or couldn't have hurdled him.

Yes he had to give it because it was a blatant penalty, even though it wasn’t as blatant as the one he didn’t give.

Stephens arm is in an unnatural position so has to be a pen but there are pictures showing Crouch pulling the defenders shirt which could have changed the decision if seen by VAR.

1 was a pen (Barnes) the other wasn’t due to the shirt pulling, you’d rather have the 1 that was earlier on as it potentially changes the game, rather than hanging on till the last minute never knowing if he will even it up but by then when he did it’s far too late.

Re: Did Taylor feel that he had to give the 94th minute Penalty?
He probably felt he had to make amends for his 1st half faux-pas,and giving the decision so late meant he couldn't unduly influence the result in either teams favour,i tend to agree the 1st pen was more stonewall, the 2nd was 50/50 sometimes they are given but not in every instance.
